DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

ryan mildiner: I don't let DHL come for one palette. So from packing on the palette to pick up from DHL it could take 7 days. if iam 7 days ill you have to add 7 days (14 days) like now. Today I will be done with all EU shipments and DHL will pick them up on monday.

I was fine on tuesday and since this day i made 280 parcels ready. Next to the A4 project I have a normal 8h job, so currently I work 12h-16h every day.

Thanks for the update. Don't overwork yourself. Becoming computer case famous doesn't sound like fun specially with a full time job.

So we can assume all down to Luxembourg will be shipped monday? :D

If we are in one of the countries on the list and we didn't get the e-mail should we contact you to ask for details?

Thank you so much for your hard work so far, and i know that someday all this hard work will payoff and Dan Cases will be world famous, even after getting the case i will follow your company looking for more and more great ideas like this.

Just got my confirmation email!! I hope it will arrive in no more than a week from now, just in time for my b-day!
So excited!! :D

Dan lives! So turns out he didn't sell our cases from the back of a truck in an alley somewhere. You guys all can rest easy. (Kidding. ;) Thanks for your hard work Dan, looking forward to getting the case!!)

I recieved shipping confirmation to Czech Republic several minutes ago. I am looking forward to this case so much!

dondan : thank you for making this case real. I will definately watch your future projects (hint: smallest ATX case possible, maybe?). Just take some time for "vacation" after finishing with this case. And thank you once again!

If anyone is interested in the Z170i Pro Gaming, I have one listed for sale in the marketplace.

Finished, haven't ran temps yet. Definitely need to get custom cables for the nest. Very easy to build in. For the fan at the top there is a frame up there don't think you will be able to do to it.

I dont know whats wrong, but i dint see any image. I tried to see it on pc and on phone and still nothing. Can you just post direct link please?
Thank you

Thank you.
Thise cables from PSU look quite messy even with modular psu, so maybe a custom cables can help it.
Question: is there a chance, that you could fit a slim fan on the top above the motherboard? Is there enough space for it?

Edit: like this one: https://www.quietpc.com/kaze-jyu-slim-2000

I plan on doing custom, but I was just trying to get the build together. As for a fan I don't think a fan will fit. The space is very limited and the riser card touches the top of the case with its bend. And I wouldnt recommend bending it more. My temps for CPU is 49c on heaven. But I'm rocking a 6500.

Does anyone have a photo of the a4-sfx and the Ncase M1 side by side?
I sure do, as a part of my very poorly done pictures (was more excited about starting it up) Please note "poorly" also reply to image quality - my apologies.

Asus Z170i Pro Gaming
i7-6700K (undervolted, no hyperthreading)
Cryorig C7
Corsair SF450
G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 3000
Asus GTX 1080 Strix A OC
And a little old Samsung 850 EVO 1TB
I can certainly see the appeal of custom short cables for the PSU now, but that is a whole new adventure of which I know absolutely nothing.

Stress tests normalised around 79 C for CPU and the short test for GPU around 65 C, but take that one with a grain of salt.
For more real life situations I'm about to fire up some VR fun with Vive and Battlefield 1 - I'll make sure to note temperatures along the way if anyone should be interested.

The corsair cables are hard to deal with in original form.

IMO it's more then worth it to buy the tools/parts to shorten them. They come out much better.

Thanks for feedback.
Fan is just 15mm thick, so if you atach a small metal cover (for example http://www.gratingpacific.com/images/round-hole-patterns-img1.gif ) on it, then riser cable could touch it so you could bent it a little more. All its needed is a gap of at lest 20mm to fix a fan to the top.
But its just my thinking. I dont have the case yet so i will see when i get it.

Nice build! Did you have any trouble fitting that gtx1080 inside? I just ordered exactly this gpu and i was a little worried about dimensions.

Really interested on CPU and Gpu temps in game as BF1.

Im afraid aftermarket Gpu increase CPU temps

Ran some Time spy in 3dmark

Screenshot of EVGA precision showing temps min and max of GPU and CPU.

better score that i had with my i7 5930 on the X99 board by a few points pretty happy with the results.

Specs:

MSI Z270i Gaming Pro Carbon AC
i7-7700 (non K)
16gb Corsair Vengeance 3333mhz
EVGA GTX 1080 (ACX cooler)
Cryorig C7
Corsair SFX 600
Samsung 960 Pro m.2 512gb
Samsung EVO 850 1TB Sata

That GPU temp is pretty high for an ACX cooler. I know EVGA keeps their fan profile to a minimum, but still disappointing nonetheless. I've got a 1070 ACX, hoping the lower power consumption and more aggressive (yet still largely inaudible) fan curve I set in afterburner keeps temps more in check.

as long as it doesn't thermal throttle no problems for me. Fans did not go over 40%

With fan set at 60% temps went up to 59 degrees running same test.

The 3m riser cable was made to bend. You can bemd it flat together. I'm going to do that and try fitting a fan there.

Do you have a link to someone that sells an affordable crimper?

I have a few questions I hope someone can answer.

If not overclocking, is it worth going for the 7700 (65w) instead of a 7700K (91w)? The 7700K is still a higher base clock but considering the Cyrorig C7 is often the loudest part of the system, keeping the CPU cooler would help reduce the fan noise. Even with a GTX 1080, it would seem the 7700 would match it well and the benefits of the 7700K are outweighed by having lower CPU temperature under load.

On the GPU front, which model is the quietest GTX 1080. I was initially looking at the ZOTAC GTX 1080 AMP Extreme however it seems like this card won't fit. I want a GPU which doesn't spin fans at idle, and is relatively quiet under load. It seems like the ASUS Strix may be a good choice, but what other options are out there?

Nearly every review I have read which compares the Corsair SF450 to the SF600, rates the SF450 quieter. Is this the preferred PSU choice since even a 7700K & GTX 1080 won't exceed 450w? I am basing my information mostly on this video:

Are there any plans for the some experienced member of this forum to come up with custom cabling for Corsair SF450/600 such that the MB and GPU power cables are just the right length? Since the Corsair PSU and ASUS Strix Z270i MB are going to be a popular component choice, it should be possible for someone to come up with the exact length necessary for a perfect cabling run. This be very beneficial for the community to just be able to buy a known configuration that would be just right.

Thanks in advance for any information that can be provided.

Funny enough it popped right in, zero hassle. I must admit that surprised me a bit, as it took some time to get it in the Ncase.

I would not worry at all Jonas Mellkvist.
40 minuttes of Arizona Sunshine with high supersampling = CPU 78 C, and GPU 71 C.
60 minuttes Battlefield 1 = CPU 80 C, and GPU 72 C.
Bear in mind this is with a very high room temperature.

The vast majority of heat seem to emanate from out the top at the back end of the case, i.e. approximatly over the CPU. Could be interessting to see if some sort of small fan could alleviate it in any way.

Trust me bro, DO NOT get an affordable crimper... been there already, and it's just not worth it...

Get a GOOD ONE from mainframe customs, it's expensive though, but you won't regret...

That's the one that did work great for me after 3 (yes... three!!!) cheap ones from ebay...

How long is that? 150mm or so? That's about what I was thinking should be enough considering the 24pin plug is right next to the PSU, taking into account bending etc. But cable mod only goes down to 250mm and I'm not super excited about buying stuff to mod one cable...Wish there was a retail solution.

Yes there will be new products :) I have two new project in my mind will start with them after i am done with shipment

I get that youre going to play it Coy for the time being on new products, but could you just clarify if the new projects are brand new cases or is one a V2 of the A4. I get you probably can't say, but we are all so eager for information. lol

Brand new cases. But there will be also a V2 (more a 1.1) of the A4-SFX but only with tiny ajustments.
Great! Thank you so much for the honest answer Dan. One more thing, lol. Can you say whether the July batch be the V1.1, or a re-run of the V1?
