DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

I ended up purchasing the Cryorig C7 cooler could anybody recommend a good Mini-itx motherboard?
I am thinking of i7 7700 and a 1080 Graphics card.
Any recommendations on the Motherboard would really help and be appreciated.

Check out this comparison spreadsheet for the new 270 mini itx boards. You'll need one of these if you're planning on getting a 7700.

If you're getting a 7700k I'd recommend the asus rog strix z270i GAMING, seems like many people are waiting for them to come in stock.

If you're getting a 7700, check out the H270 boards in that spreadsheet.

I've noticed on the Dan Case website that a few things have changed since launch, such as giving info on when a new batch will be available. But my biggest interest is that the case is now being referred to as the A4-sfxV1. So this all but confirms that Dan does have plans for a V2 with incremental improvements, most likely based on feedback from v1 customers. What do you think the chances are that the July Batch will be V2?

A formal apology?

Is the fact that caseking customer receive their case before has any impact on your order?

So you want Dan to say to the reseller to wait 3 weeks, so that you can feel better?
Serioulsy, you should stop looking for product on kickstarter...

Yes Dan didn t manage to send all the case before, now you can deal with it, or, deal with it.
being impatient and frustrated is ok and normal, asking for formal apology is quite outrageous.

If I was Dan, I would gladly put a stop to your wait by deeply aploging that sadly I would not be able to fulfill your order , cancel it and send you back you money.

formal apology for working 5000hrs on a case all by himself and making available....
Yup, I've already stated in my last post. Backing a Kickstarter is not buying a product (if you were buying an actual product, I'd sympathize with him). And this person, seems like they didn't even back the Kickstarter when it was available to back and had purchased someone else's spot. But enough on hounding on about this guy and his outrage, I guess I'm a little bitter about this guy acting so entitled when others have it worse.

And on the topic of motherboards, I'm getting that ASUS either way. The features it has over the others are enough for me.

more ventilation where the ssd trays are could give people the option to put a fan below an SFX powersupply thats neatly cable managed.

Just wondering, if any UK Kickstarter members have received their case?

Got my initial DLH shipping notification 10 days ago, but heard nothing since (know Dan has been ill), but just checking.
Tracking email sent out Jan 23rd, nothing since then, DHL tracking says: "The instruction data for this shipment have been provided by the sender to DHL electronically", and that's all. Waiting impatiently for updates! :)

I think pretty slim. From what I gather, the July batch would need to be in production about now and Dan hasn't shown us any V2 stuff.

More likely, stuff like dealing with the gap above the PCI-E slot (something mentioned by Linus).

As a backer (and someone who has been following this case since 2014), I feel a little let down the people who waited till they were guaranteed a real product are getting theirs before us who backed. Yes, us kickstarters weren't buying a product. We were investors. We put our money on the line, with no guarantee of seeing anything, to make sure this case could be made. Without us, there wouldn't have been enough demand to actually make this thing. I know it's nothing like the awful kickstarter stories like Coolest Cooler, who started selling on amazon while their backers were STILL waiting, but it does feel a little like it.

I'm a little salty, but I'm comforted knowing it's coming soon. I just hope DHL isn't going to be their slow, shitty self (like when Massdrop ships with them) that is going to take an extra 2 weeks. DHL always lets me down

how come there is no B250 chipset here? they are good and cheap alternative for those who arent gonna overclock.

I'd contact DHL when the shipment goes live and ask about import charges, they might shaft you with some really high ancillary fees, also ask them if invoiced import charges are a possibility as well.

Isnt that gap there for GPU's that need extra wedge room to fiddle the bracket in?

I'm guessing and hoping that I can fit the gpu in first. Then fit the noctua a9x14 and then put the mobo in.

As a Kickstarter backer, I'm pretty sad seeing people who ordered today get shipping notifications when I've gotten radio silence :(

I'm a backer too, and after so many disappointed orders from OC & CK, I'm so glad I backed the project, and that's me being in the second to last country to ship.

After this round of moaning about who gets their case first, there will be a round of moaning about why stuff in v2 wasn't in v1 in the first place...
I mean common!!! why didn't Dan include "it". I'm sure it's to sell more cases /sarcasm

Go ahead and add them. It's been a bit of a group effort making the thing. I take no credit.

:( ☹️ :(

My order was canceled from overclockers and this is what I have received in my inbox

"Apologies for the confusion surrounding this case, we had a huge influx of around 300 orders for our 100 cases at the time of release and so a significant number of customers missed out on the case simply down to timings on when the payment came through our system and was printed down in the warehouse. Apologies for this, that's all been cancelled for you and an email should be on its way to confirm this."

I received the same message.

Jup, it needs the extra space before it slots into the PCI-E slot. But it could have been covered with a shroud or something.

To me, it isn't an issue, as i will be rarely looking at the back :p

built mine really need some shorter cables for the PSU. C7 working fine on the i7 7700 so far. It is the only thing that makes noise in the case. The PSU was silent even playing games as is my GTX 1080. its whisper quiet at idle loving it.

I have mine, just need to get a slim fan case, tidy uip the cables and I will then post pics

cpu gets to about 60 degrees then the fan ramps up.

I am running the 7700 (non K) as i wanted the 65w TDP no need for me to overclock

GPU was also mid 60's

I was only playing some Dota will do some more at the weekend

Same here. I messaged Dan about it, he says that all UK orders will be shipped on Monday, should arrive by end of next week.

I'm starting to get concerned that there may be other underlying reasons for the delay, even if Dan was ill for a week. I got the confirmation DHL where expecting the cases on the 23rd, its now 11 days after that. it shouldn't take a whole working week to get some pallets to DHL.

I do understand Dan is a one man band so it may be longer than normal to do this, however he hasn't given a clear statement of when to expect the cases. Even if its taking longer than anticipated he could easily give a conservative estimate of when the cases will be sent to DHL.

This is all starting to worry me. I don't care OC got their cases first. I am just concerned at the lack of communication from Dan. getting these cases out ASAP and keeping us up to date should be his top priority.

If that is the case this is good news (pardon the pun :p) but why doesn't he send out a regular update. im sure he must be responding to a lot of the same emails

Who's saying it isn't his top priority? Providing estimated dates, and then failing to deliver on them could be even worse than not providing a date at all.

If hes in a position where he cant even provide a ball mark figure or a conservative estimate would mean theres certainly something to worry about.

So far officially all I have is that the estimated delivery date has come and gone, with no official explination on why, (only what I have seen in the forums) He could update the estimated delivery date and provide an explination, if it falls back again, he just needs to update and provide a reason.

Its called stakeholder management and managing expectations. Being new is a acceptable excuse for only so long. What im asking for isn't that hard and would take no time at all.

So America here, Ill be receiving my Dan Case today!!!! Not from dan but from another user (shipped from Germany). Ill post pictures as soon as the build is complete this afternoon.

Lucky dog! Make sure to post build pics!!! Also, could you measure the space on the top of the case? Directly on top of the mobo and pci riser? I want to see if I can squeeze a 92x14mm fan.

Again, enjoy the case. I can't wait to dust off my BNIB hardware in my Dan A4.

my wife just received it. I hate being at work and not being able to see it. Ill measure tonight. Ill be rocking a :
Gigabyte h170n wifi, i5 6500, 16 gb Ram. 256 m.2, gtx 1080, sf 450watt.

The bios fan settings on the CPU are often pretty aggressive. You can set a custom fan curve to make it quieter without much sacrifice to temps.

Also you can probably undervolt your CPU as well, which would take a chunk out of CPU temps.

If Dan doesn't want to give up any control, perhaps the success of the first order would allow him to hire some help. Personally i could easily see this case taking off. Its incredibly popular in the PC community. It's no wonder 1500 units moved so quick. I can easily see an 10,000 units selling out in a month too. As soon as word got round the community it was available to buy (Especially if it managed to get a US distributor) there would be a hell of a rush.

ryan mildiner: I don't let DHL come for one palette. So from packing on the palette to pick up from DHL it could take 7 days. if iam 7 days ill you have to add 7 days (14 days) like now. Today I will be done with all EU shipments and DHL will pick them up on monday.

I was fine on tuesday and since this day i made 280 parcels ready. Next to the A4 project I have a normal 8h job, so currently I work 12h-16h every day.

dondan

I hate to do this. But looks like I am moving again. Can I update my shipping address?

Previous address in US. Current address also in US.

I messaged you in KS with my address.

EDIT: Forgot to say please.
