Someone tell Linus...

(yes i know it was apparently still working afterwards)

Erm... Anyone else hear standing pat... waiting to see how Ryzen shapes up?

Seems like a bad time to buy.

Regardless of how Ryzen performs, it's damned unlikely that the 7700K will be considered an underdog of any sort. If a high-performance 4C/8T CPU is what you need, and you need it now, then here ya go!

Yeah, this 2600K has take a good bit of abuse too already and is a bit "curly." :)

retention bracket will flatten her back out (y)

Got one of these gonna test it and one brought from amazon may the best chip win !!!

How so? I don't the release of something else somehow invalidates the performance of a 7700k at this price...

Not about validation or invalidation. Sure, if one must have a new CPU today... by all means buy it at this price.

But if you have a working PC that's a SB or better, then the 7700k isn't a big upgrade. A 6-8 core Ryzen may be worth waiting a wee bit longer (next month?). No?

Put off that Intel for pricing the Broadwell 8-core at $1800. Rooting on AMD to bring some sanity back to moar cores.

Stop with that drivel. Don't like it, don't buy it. AMD will not outperform Intel. Just get over it.

Building a dedicated Sim racing PC, had intended to use a 7600k, but F it, 7700k inbound. I need to stay out of hot deals.

Thanks OP!

Drivel?

Never said AMD would outperform Intel. Only that I'm hopeful they bring back competition soon. Also said buy now if one must.

But some of us aren't Intel Fanbois. Get over it.

Hmmmm, ok.

Fry's has it for $295 for the next two days if you're signed up for their promo code deals.

EDIT: Correction... Fry's has the non-K version

"Wait for Ryzen they said. It might be worth it they said."

- People who waited for Ryzen
Do we know its not? I thought the leaks were good.

If Ryzen is at all competitive, I'm willing to spend a few extra bucks to support AMD as we desperately need the competition to Intel.

I've been an Intel "fanboi" for so long now, simply because I've wanted high-end CPUs and that was my only option.

AMD needs more than your pity purchase. Like everyone else I want competition but AMD, more than anyone else, should be firmly in the "I'll believe it when I see it" camp. To stay on topic this is a great price for a 7700k and I'm really trying hard to not buy a second one...

Bought one. eBay gave me a $10 coupon. Nice deal and I'm not waiting for AMD to break my heart again. Looks like the wife is getting her C2D upgraded to a 2600K.

Well shit, I was going to wait on this new HT/GPC until next month, but it looks like happy belated birthday to me...

incoming 7700K - good enough price to pull the trigger and not wait for Ryzen. Still in the Intel camp for a few years anyway.

So tempted to get one of these ... even though I'm rockin' a perfectly good DELIDDED 6700k that seems to not want to go past 4.6ghz......

I think they are unloading these because rizen is around the corner and might be real competitive.
