Following this also on SFF Forum, and looks interesting. Pretty much a Hutzy XS, just even smaller due to the different PSU support.

EDIT: Saw your post there saying it will be laser cut. The hexagons look very close to each other, so hoping that the metal in between won't become warped and weak.

Today I received PicoPSU-160-XT. PicoPSU is lower than Noctua L9i and it will fit great in my case. Look at the photo.

G-Unique Plug&Play Unit (up to 400W) have the same height (36mm +-2mm). Look at the photo. 99% probability, G-Unique will fit easy in my case too.

How about HDPlex 300w?

HDPLEX 300W is not compatible - very huge for this case.

You have 3 another options:
  1. PicoPSU 160W (65W CPU + 75W GPU)
  2. Best option. G-Unique Plug&Play unit. Not expensive, powerful, compact. For $90 you will get G-Unique Unit with 6+2 GPU connector and 300W power brick. This setup can handle 95W CPU and GTX 1070.

This is a pretty cool looking chassis, and the smaller size is a definite attraction…!

I realize the argument can be made towards overall volume with the external brick, but the chassis itself is so tiny…!

I really like the M.2 SSD only approach as well; hoping to see some dual M.2 slot mITX AM4 MBs for Ryzen CPU, and a shorty Fury Nano style GPU would be nice to see as well once they get around to unleashing info on the Vega lineup… Maybe something that does not have power spikes like the 'original' Nano had…

Today I received and tested Moddiy Premium Gold Plated 16x PCI-E Extension Shielded Cable Riser (30cm). Very long name :)
First impression - good quality and flexible enough.

Test Environment & Equipment:
- GPU: Zotac 1050 Ti Mini
- M/B: MSI H110i Pro
- OS: Win10
- Games: Overwatch
- Benchmark: Catzilla 720p

Results without riser:
- Bus Interface: x16 3.0
- Overwatch, fps: 161
- Catzilla, run #1: 14764
- Catzilla, run #2: 14766

Results with riser:
- Bus Interface: x16 3.0
- Overwatch, fps: 159
- Catzilla, run #1: 14796 (record :))
- Catzilla, run #2: 14718

Verdict: excellent, recommended!

So when are you taking preorders? ;)
First case will be ready next week. I'll post many photos and maybe video. After that I plan to produce 10 cases (for sale and for my friends). They will be ready in early March. I started to collect pre-orders.

How do you power a 1070 with G-unique? it does not have any Pcie connectors

They have option with custom cables (+$15). They can easy make unit with 4+4 CPU, 6+2 GPU and without Sata cable. More info here.

CustomMOD Mini 3.96L, technical specifications:

DEFINITE interest…!!!

Info on how / where internal PSU (assuming HDPLEX NanoATX 160W AC-DC & 300W HiFi DC-ATX combo…?) component(s) fit…?

I would think 300W HiFi DC-ATX next to MB (vertical orientation) & 160W AC-DC (horizontal orientation) under GPU…?

Full-tilt boogie, the following comes in at 350 watts over on PCPartsPicker…

CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9i CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z270i GAMING Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3200 Memory

HDPLEX 160W DC-ATX and HDPLEX 160W AC-DC are not supported.
CustomMOD Mini 3.96L works with HDPLEX HiFi 300W DC-ATX and external power brick. Yes, 300W HiFi DC-ATX is next to MB in vertical orientation. Your setup without overclocking can easy work with 300W.

So, no room under the GPU for the HDPLEX 160W AC-DC unit…?

That is a bummer, would be awesome to have an all internal PSU solution…

Not enough room under GPU. But I don't understand your requirements. You need 300W for 7700K + 1080Ti, not 160W. Or no?
Maybe you need something like Hutzy XS (Flex PSU under GPU and M/B) but longer? 4.84L (220mm height, 100mm width, 220mm length). We can do this project for you.

For some reason, I am reading the HDPLEX 160W AC-DC & HDPLEX HIFI 300W DC-ATX combo as providing 300w of power, with a peak of 400w… I guess I am thinking the DC-ATX board is somehow 'stepping up' the wattage…?

If an external brick is needed, I guess I would need to source a Dell 330W DA330PM111 external power brick (recommended by HDPLEX)…?

And, of course, I would have to source custom length cables…

If so, then going with the G-Unique unit & G-Unique modded Dell brick (400w version) might be best solution overall…?

I would have no plans to OC at all, just picking the 7700K for maximum GHz in stock form…

HDPLEX HIFI 300W DC-ATX needs external power adapter. HDPLEX 160W AC-DC doesn't need external power adapter, but needs HDPLEX 160W Pico-Style DC-ATX.
They don't have HDPLEX 160W AC-DC & HDPLEX HIFI 300W DC-ATX combo. They have 2 options:
- HDPLEX 160W AC-DC & HDPLEX 160W Pico-Style DC-ATX combo for configs like 65W CPU + 75W GPU
- HDPLEX HIFI 300W DC-ATX and external power adapter for configs like 95W CPU + 180W GPU

For your requirements you have 2 options:
- G-Unique unit & G-Unique modded Dell brick (400w version)
- HDPLEX HIFI 300W DC-ATX + Dell 330W DA330PM111 external power brick

First option is not available now (only preorders), second option in stock now.

CustomMOD Mini 3.96L is great for both options (G-Unique and HDPLEX 300W, Zotac 1080 Mini).

First option (while not available immediately) gives me more watts, custom length cables & an overall lower cost…

Second option gives me less watts but fills (some) of the dead space caused by having a longer chassis…

The question now is; go with the shorter chassis and stick with a top end of the GTX 1070 (and hope for an equally if not more powerful Vega card) and not have to OCD fret over 'wasted' space…

Or go with the longer chassis giving the ability to use the Zotac 1080 Mini; but have that constant nagging about the empty space in there…

I am pretty sure Skylake-X / X299 would be a no go in either chassis, as I am in doubt of anyone coming out with a 37mm or shorter HSF for the 2066 socket…

But a 6 or 8 core Ryzen CPU could be doable, I just wonder if any AM4 / X370 mITX MBs will be released…?

Question towards the power input on the chassis, are options going to be available…?

The G-Unique solution calls for an 8-pin connector, but the HDPLEX solution would call for a barrel connector…?

I think, at this point, I might be leaning back towards the shorter chassis with G-Unique set-up & Kaby Lake i7 / GTX 1070 combo (but hope for Big Things from Ryzen / Vega)…?!?

Thank you for taking the time to wander thru my meanderings…!!!

Could you do 220mm x 125mm x 180mm at 4.95 liters? all width gained on the mobo side? Which would allow a big shuriken 2?

We can make something like this:

Both connectors will be supported.

AMD plan to release special chipsets for Mini-ITX - A300 (without OC) and X300 (with OC). I'm sure, you can use Razen in CustomMOD cases and in any other SFF cases. I'm sure some of Vega video cards will be supported too, because AMD plan to use HBM2 memory (allows to use smaller PCB).

BTW, the ASRock H270 & Z270 mITX MBs BOTH have front mounted M.2 slots…!

And bonus, they are NOT mounted on top of the PCH (like on the Asus ROG Strix Z270 mITX MB)…

Agreed, the matte black finish makes a world of difference in the overall looks of the chassis…!

Some questions towards smaller details of the chassis…

1 - Power button, is this something that will be included with the chassis? If not, specs for the end user to source one…

2 - PCIe riser cable, how is the GPU end of this attached to the MB tray…?

3 - Feet on the chassis… Are these included, and if so, more info on the same…

4 - The hardware to secure the PSU input bracket (be it the 8-pin for G-Unique or barrel connector for HDPlex), and the bracket itself; will this also be included with the chassis…?

Also, thoughts towards overall airflow / temps between the stock hexagonal (more open, better airflow?) vent pattern & a Hutzy XS style (less open, more restrictive?) vent pattern…

Thanks for any info you can provide…!

All in all, this chassis is really looking good…!!!

gotbass, CC Ricers, thanks guys

Boil
1 - Power button will be on the top panel (rear right corner).
2 - PCIe riser cable attached with two bolts. The same way as Dan Cases. I'll share photos in a few days.
3 - Feet included. I'll share photos too.
4 - If you need - both PSU input brackets will be included (8pin for G-Unique and 4pin for Mini-Box PIcoPSU, HDPREX is not supported). If you don't need - only one at your choice.
5 - I'll share temp tests on weekend.

So with the CustomMOD Mini 3.96L (HDPLEX + GTX 1080) I'm unable to mount the hdplex PSU and plug? Or is it just the PSU doesn't mount and you need something like velcro tape and the barrel connector is mountable?

updawg, hi.
In CustomMOD Mini 3.96L (HDPLEX + GTX 1080) you will have all that you need to use HDPLEX 300W - mounting holes/bolts and PSU input bracket.

Thank you for the answers…!

Looking forward to the forthcoming pics…!!

Really excited about this diminutive chassis…!!!
