first I was looking at 5820K or 6700K.
May wait for Broadwell prices will drop .Hell no they didn't
then we had 5820K vs 6800K vs 6700K and I was more confused.
Now its 5820K vs 6800K vs 6700K vs 7700K

I do not edit videos or audio files. I play games and the usual desktop crap.

What should I get???

Ps I picked up a corsair 110gt cooler for dirt cheap during Christmas sales now I find out the radiator is huge, what case?

thanks for advice

6700k or the 7700k since it's newer and has a better memory controller.. grab a z270 mb for it.

No idea on the case.

More then 4 cores would only be needed for video editing and crap. Games need fast mhz and that's the 6700k or 7700k.

For a case I'd say the 750D from Corsair. I have the H110i cooling my i7 5960X (X99 platform).
I don't like the stock fans however, one case fan died and one for the H110i was making a bunch of noise.
I replaced all 5 fans.

I looked at their chart and its not a true recommendation at all.
I have a 500R and it says it will fit 240 radiators but mine won't even fit a 100 cooler with a full size atx board.
The fans won't fit because of the top 8 pin header.

Look at something from nzxt to phantek.

the i5 version of the kaby lake.

Just saying, I doubt you'd notice a difference in your tasks. Put that extra $100 into video card.

My case Vote is for a Phanteks Enthoo Evolv. It's smexy.

As for CPU? 6700 or 7700, depending on pricing.

7700K.

The case is subjective, and will be influenced by what motherboard and graphics card you end up with. Assuming normally sized components, this is a good option.

There are plenty of other options. Look at Fractal design if you're more of a "plain black box" man.

get at least 6-8 cores , star citizen best game of the decade

Damn just checkes that out. Pretty damn nice looking game!

Can one play it with a quad core 6700k at 4.8ghz and 1080 sli?? Does sli work with it?

i guess you didnt look at the developers hardware requirements. If you want to take full advantage of the game get broadwell-E or have more than 4 physical cores

This game aint no console port

Wait for zen see how that plays out maybe it could trigger a deal to get a discount i7 or a price cut

Get an E5-1650 on ebay or maybe a used SB/Haswell box for sub $300 & plow all the rest of the money into a videocard.
