Yeah, I know; it's a bit of a longshot. But my need for a low-end system for a tinkering project just happens to coincide with me getting a bug up my butt to do some vintage high-end OCing (because, eh, why not?).

If you've got an old, upper-end 939 Opty laying around (if somebody actually had a 185, I'd piss myself with glee) give me a shout.

edit: I'm good on other components, btw; a CPU is the last part I need. Well, ok, that and a serious heatsink that can handle a 110+ TDP. But I'm assuming I'll have to buy that new...

I used to have one of those. I might still have it around. I will dig around my old stuff and see if I can find it. I moved recently so it may have been tossed.
 
I have the following for cheap if you live in the Cont US:

Dual Core S939 Opteron Combo on a DFI board with some ram.
NO I/O SHIELD

free PCI-E Video card, sound card and IDE drive ( if I can find them in my storage box)

I can also ship it mounted into a case for a few bucks more.

I got to check the model number of the board and CPU.

Right on. Thanks man. Do you happen to recall what model it is? I seem to recall that 165s were pretty common around these parts because they were a really good value, but I'm really hoping to score a 175 or better...

Oh wow. I turned in my old delidded Opti 185, mobo and RAM to the municipal recycling drop off just a few months ago. It was a great overclocker too.

I've got an MSI Master 2FAR with dual 185's (almost positive they were 185's. LOL. Will check for sure if interested in the combo.)

Been thinking about parting with this. It has the I/O plate and rear I/O USB bracket.

It was a 185. I know I really didn't want to get rid of it. I know I kept it in an old MSI motherboard so it should be easier to find if I still have it.
