R9 Fury 4gb $240AR

240 bucks after rebate for that card does not seem hot to me at all. The Fury is only 10-15% faster than the RX480 4GB which can be had for for under $200 with no rebate and as low as $170 after rebate.

Not to knock on your find but 240 before rebate would be a "hot deal". The lack of HDMI 2.0 though makes me Furious. Did you see did you see what I did there?

You're reaching pretty hard.

20% for $40-50 is a substantial gain. That is the same difference between a 1070 and 1080 except they are $200 apart. This isn't even taking into account the bottom of the barrel cooler a $200 RX 480 has compared to the Fury's that rarely breaks 1000 RPM undervolted.

IMO for people looking for something to get by until Vega drops, Fury Air is a no brainer but they've been priced lower than this.
Oh so I guess your link supersedes anything I could come up with so that means I am reaching hard?

The Fury is under 14% faster than the 480 here. Even going by your link of 20% the 480 is the better buy for 170 bucks AR. So as I said, for $240 AR it does not seem hot to "me".

Unless you have another Fury already and really, really want to try (and likely be disappointed by) x-fire, I don't really think this is a hot deal at this point. That said, there's nothing really this good in the $240 range and I'd take this over an overclocked GTX 1060 6GB (which tend to cost a bit more than $240).

If you win the lotto and get one that unlocks, then I'd say it's very hot.

Thanks, in any case, for passing along.

What do you mean by "unlocks"?

thx

What games disappoint in crossfire? All of mine have worked that I've tried.

Doom
Shadow of mordor
Witcher 3
Dirt rally
Depth
Shark attack

I think that's about all I've tried so far. I've only had crossfire a couple weeks but everything I've tried has worked flawlessly on my Fury X cards. Performance gains range of course but everything has been positive improvements that I've tested. I think crossfire has come a long way from the opinion some people formed years ago.

Seems like crossfire performs exceptionally well even 1.5 years ago in these tests.

I've had good experiences too with crossfire and I'm even using 2x 7970 still going strong. Most major titles support crossfire and if they don't you likely don't need it to drive to high settings anyhow.

I've had Crossfire solutions every gen since 1900xt (and SLI further back before that), my last being dual 390xs. I finally gave up, moving back to a single GPU. Like SLI, I'd say around 40-50% of games in my xp have some issue ranging from annoying to being completely non-functional... and the support seems to have gotten markedly worse over the last two generations. Of those titles alone, the first three of them had major x-fire issues for months after release (with some still existing): Doom, Shadows of Mordor, and Witcher 3. Then there's microstutter... something I realize not everyone notice - I do. Further, there's the invariable waiting for support of new tech e.g. Freesync, VR during which your investment is wasted if you want to adopt.

The only time I'd suggest going mGPU is if you absolutely can't reach a mimimum FPS with a single GPU at the res/IQ you want to play at.

My locked fury does 8350 on GPU score in Firestrike extreme. I think op will be fine with a bit of overclocking.

Doom has no crossfire support at all.
