You’ll be able to pre-load Andromeda on March 17th. That’s just a little over two months away, which is interesting because I still feel like the game hasn’t been properly demonstrated yet. There is also talk of controller support (which were absent from the sequels), but I have found that keyboard and mouse works perfectly for the series.

…the game can be pre-loaded on March 17 at 10am PT/1pm ET/6pm UK. That will definitely save you some time downloading files on launch day. EA Access and Origin users on Xbox One and PC, respectively, will also get to play Mass Effect: Andromeda early for a limited time. Usually, folks who pre-order the game can play EA titles through these services early, sometimes up to a week. Bioware hasn’t stated how early folks can play it, as far as we are aware, but we suspect the same time frame – or close to it – will apply.

I can't believe how much EA care about saving my time! Really thoughtful of them.

Does anyone still pre-order games?

After all the flops, there's no way I'd buy early.

If Doom had offered Arcade Mode, a real map editor, and a dedicated server option on ship day, I would have paid more, but pre-ordered, no.

Never played the ME series until last week when Origin offered ME2 and all the DLC for free, pleasantly surprised but I still wont be pre ordering this. Christmas sale next year may be.

Everyone who is against pre-ordering either doesn't understand that you're under no obligation to buy the final product, nor pay more than $5 down to do it, which can be transferred or refunded no questions asked at every store I know of. There is really no downside - you get a guaranteed copy on disc (so it can be resold or given to a friend later), it's WAY cheaper than the digital versions in almost all cases (I never pay over $45 for a new boxed game that has MSRP of $60... often less, like $35), gives you some sort of minor bonuses or additional discount offers, and helps the publishers and stores predict the demand at release so that people who DON'T pre-order still get a copy too. There is NO DOWN SIDE if you use it in a simple, logical way! I have never ONCE pre-ordered a game that I eventually bought and regretted it, because I cancel or transfer the money i paid down for it to another game or my wallet if the initial rumblings on a game are mediocre or bad.

(I AM against the effect it had on the industry for a while in the first few years it became the cool thing to do, but now it's generally a good thing for all involved unless you use it irresponsibly - like when it first was around, the exclusive bonuses for different retailers sucked and made everyone feel bad no matter where they bought it, or when it was missing out on significant features or levels in the game if you didn't pre-order. But now it's generally early access, a small discount, or cosmetic items that eventually can be bought as DLC or come out for free after a timed exclusivity period).
