According to NVIDIA's blog post, it looks as though the company has teamed up with AxonVR to create a full body haptic feedback system that allows you to "feel" virtual reality. Check out the full body rig concept art in these images.

AxonVR is bringing lifelike touch to digital experiences through advanced haptic technology. The heart of AxonVR’s platform is HaptX, a haptic textile that lets users feel the physical properties of virtual objects. This includes texture, shape, motion, vibration and temperature. HaptX can bring the sense of touch to any surface. You can integrate it into wearables like gloves and even full-body suits. These wearables can be paired with the HaptX Skeleton, a lightweight exoskeleton that applies physical forces to the wearer’s body. Together, these technologies bring digital experiences to life with unprecedented realism.
 
Glad to see they are hard at work putting the Matrix together. Looks good. Plug me in.. as someone famous... :D
 
Does it have a self sizing (large for me, small for most of you) GSM?



Genital stimulus module? With both the innie and out-ie variations?
 
They aren't even remotely taking into account the stresses on those parts in those concepts. The rotation bearing surface for the hip mount is going to take a brutal beating in short order unless it's a lot beefier than that. The base unit will need to be H E A V Y also. It's going to have to be built like an industrial CNC machine to support a person suspended at any angle and rotate them rapidly. Which would make it very expensive $50k-100k and very dangerous because of the extreme motor forces it'll need to support and move you quickly.
 
Screw that shit, I come home from work to game in a comfy chair, not flail around like some fucktard.

SO not New . . . In fact this was the original vision of VR. Before Matrix (that was to side step the physicality), Assassin's Creed (WAY before), even lawnmower man (they had the multiaxis ball because of budget) and that s 1992!
a Hanging exoskeleton is the easiest way, effectively a VR Waldo. And never thought to be of home use.
Also, they are not as hard as people think to make. (short of the Assassin's Creed's version) TO get a very high level of immersion, just general feedback like touch and solidity need to be addressed. This could be easily done low tech with air blaters and resistance/locking joints (no motors needed) Effectively just limiting and resisting motion. (also you never leave a vertical attitude for safety) This has been done and works amazing.
The next step beyond is the environment pushing back . . .that takes a lot more work and NOT what they are proposing here. SO this proposal is VERY doable (and HAS been done in lab not commercially)
