Steam Winter Sale starts on the 22nd of December.

Good.. gotta bit of time off anyways. Last winter started the 300 hour jaunted into Fallout4. Time to find a new game to ravage. Sleeping Dogs maybe? That middle earth/shadow of mordor? We'll see.

I used to get so excited for these, but since they started the refund program its been meh.

I'm hoping for some VR games to go on better sales than the Autumn sale, but other than that... Yeah, not holding my breath.

Same. It used to be fun watching for the flash sales and playing community games. Ever since they dialed back their efforts I just check my wishlist on the first day and ignore it the rest of the time.
Agreed, I really liked the format with a focused 10-12 games per day at heavy discount as it made you actually look forward to checking the sales on a daily basis. And usually at the end they gave you a 2nd chance offer on the most popular sales. The flash/limited 4 hour or 8 hour window sales were a bit tedious to keep track of, but the community offers tended to be a pretty good coin flip choice on solid games.

Anyways, now it just seems like all of the "Sales" are their typical % off ranges for entire publisher catalogs, which used to be the base canvas of a Steam sale anyways.

People still getting exited about Steam sales? Have you been in a freezer for the last four years? Between humble bundles and international sales gaming sites these sales seem rather pathetic.

Yeah, that's how i feel too. Nothing to get excited about with Steam sales anymore. At least with removal of flash sales they removed my superpower of impulse buying shitload of crap i'll never play. I dont think i played even half of games in my library.

Conan Exiles is the only game I want on Steam which isn't out for two more months.
Styx Shards of Darkness is also up there
Tyranny if it's cheap and Jotun is always on sale but I think it's kinda shovelware.
I'm sure Jotun is a good game though the company making the game is working on a hand drawn side scroller. Which never go over well on Steam

How many people here will buy more games just because they are cheap, when they have games from last time they haven't even played yet...

Me.

Tyranny if it's cheap

+1

But, I don't necessarily blame the sale. There's just nothing interesting for me to buy. I used to buy a game a week back in the day. Now, it's all cross-platform, DLC infested, connect to get anywhere average.

If not for the VR game sales I am hoping to see, I don't really plan on buying much. There are only a few small games I kind of want like Salt & Sancturary and DariusBurst CS if they get discounted to a price I find attractive.

I have to agree that with the removal of the flash sales I don't have much incentive to actually impulse buy stuff and it saves time. You really only have to check steam once then make a list and you can just buy it on the last day if you are still interested. The flash sales were always a daily check to see what was on sale and if a title popped up you were only sort of interested in I generally had a tendency to buy it cause it was cheap and if I waited till later it would cost me more. Funny thing is a lot of those impulse buys ended up not even being tried for months or years at a time lol (GTAIV installed from Winter 2009-2010 sale and has not even been started once yet).

Same here.. I have added all the VR games I an interested in to my Wishlist so when the sale hits I can just quickly peak at the prices

I wanna hook up my nephew w/ a $100 GC. Anybody know if Steam gift cards ever go on sale? Online, at BB, or Frys or something? Need it for xmas obviously.

I used to get a 10% discount on them at work but they took it away last year.

There is a guy in FS/FT selling Steam cards. I think he has some $50 cards left at a slight discount...could save you a bit over 10% IIRC.

And Steam is getting hit up harder than an intern at the White House. Timing out left and right currently.

Yeah, Steam ditching the flash sales goes hand-in-hand with the refunds within two hours of gameplay (within 2 weeks).

I enjoy these long sales windows, because I get to wait to buy until I actually have time to try the game out. And the last game I bought sucked hard, and I got a refund easily.

I'll have a look when I get home tonight. Got plenty of time to browse.

Tyranny is not on sale damn though it might be.....

Backlog is too big to care about the sale

Actually, it seems that Steam is so slammed that the deals haven't populated in my wishlist yet.

Sorry
The Steam Store is experiencing some heavy load right now. Please try again later.

Pretty disappointed with VR game sales...mostly like 10-20% off, if at all.

There are a few titles I might pick up but...meh overall
