Please move if this is in the wrong place.

Can I, or how can I use Gsync while watching fullscreen video from youtube using Chrome? If thats even possible?

Your desktop environment is already in sync, with or without a gsync monitor AFIK, it won't do anything for videos. If you're getting choppy playback it's another issue. If you just want "smoother" motion then the video itself needs to be higher fps.

Video players already have Vsync (in the odd case that playback or your display is not in sync) and Gsync is irrelevant because there's no user input that could cause input lag.

As for Youtube, if you're somehow getting tearing (the only thing *sync would have an effect on), it's most likely a desktop composition issue (e.g. Windows 7 and Aero).

I just thought maybe if the refresh rate (144hz while on my desktop) matched the video fps, normally near 30 on youtube, the video would appear smoother with less judder.

Yes correcting the refresh rate you remove judder, but gsync is for variable framerate and videos framerate remains constant.

Not sure if you can, but don't get why people are saying it doesn't make sense.. would be nice if when play 23.976fps video screen updated exactly every 41.708ms or half that if needed. No fps isn't varying but gsync would let monitor refresh at an arbitrary 'fixed' rate of the video being played, if it happened to not match up to 60hz. 144hz isn't as big an issue, but still every 23.976 ever 40s or whatever it is you get an extra frame. But still if you have 4k 60hz gsync display it'd more handy... but then problem is also the apps, if video app sees a 60hz mode it'll probably try to do its own 3:2 pulldown and then gsync can't really help. Probably better to have video app do mode set to make sure it doesn't do pulldown.
