BATTLEFIELD 1

I'm already running one Fury X. Used to have two 290x in crossfire. Waiting for the next big thing here.

^^^ Had my fill of sli/xfiah rigs and theassociated issues with each. As long as I can get a single card fast enough to get me 60fps I'm sticking with that.

The only reason I entertain the thought occasionally is because I'm running 3x 27inch /60hz panels in eyefinity. I played the campaign on ultra setting with no problems, but I dialed settings back to maintain 60 fps in multiplayer.

It's more like a $300 luxury than a necessity, so I can't make myself pull the trigger. /always wondering about the next gen.

I was trying to get my assault class to level 10 yesterday while playing the new map. I ran out of ammo with my Automatico, so I picked up an MG15 Suppressive from a corpse. Man, DICE was kind to this one during the buff.

And, Omfg.....

Doing my bi-weekly check in on BF1: any news on updates to the rental server program to give admins actual control over their servers? Kick/ban, map cycle, auto balance etc? Or is RSP still completely useless.

Nope. Supposedly you can add more than 6 maps now and they possibly lowered the minimum number of players to start.

The LMG buff was pretty substantial. The BAR and mg15 Suppressive are nasty. The BAR can hip fire with the best of the assault weapons and the 15 is ridiculous on its bipod.

Edit: Meant LMG

That's good to hear, I shouldn't have more luck pushing a capture point as a scout with a Martini-Henry than support imo...

I think my fps has gone down by about 10 from either the last two nvidia driver updates or the game updates.

I've been spending a fair amount of time with the fighter variants pre and post patch. It feels like I now have equipment which lets me win fights I should win, and lose fights I should lose. Pre patch I didn't see much use for the dogfighter variant. Post patch I've been tearing it up with the dogfighter (when I'm in the correct state of mind while playing. If not, I'm my own worst enemy. :ROFLMAO:).

For me, altitude has always been life in BF games. I'll will typically fly up until I hit the ceiling, and begin patrolling specific zones of the map where I know there is no AA. I'll use free look in 1st person to survey every potential attack vector and keep an eye on my six, and I'll steer with the rudder because they remain functional when using free look. When I see the enemy, I'll close to intercept and then attack in a near vertical dive. I'll throttle back, enter the gun sight, and fire at the enemy's ailerons. I can usually toast one side's ailerons before it's time to level off on their tail just long enough to fire a burst at one of their engines. With other fighters and attack aircraft I will enter my dive in a nose on attack, and target their engine during the dive.

The trench fighter is still a good load out. It's awesome for defending flags or supporting squads who are capping. The bomber killer is also very good post patch. I'll wipe out a bomber's ailerons with the guns during my dive , then pull up just in time to fire the entire rocket volley at their engines. The surprise is that the bomber killer is almost as good at killing infantry as the trench fighter. I use it to take out anti air emplacements, snipers, cavalry, motorcycles, car, and any other soft targets. Just kill the throttle in a steep dive and fire the entire salvo. Cha-Ching!

I've decided this game is so good I've gone back to BF4. If I use the population of the online servers as an indicator, so have a lot of people. The game overall still feels like a huge step back as far as actual gameplay. The 5 clicks to open whatever unlocks you've earned is nearly as annoying as having to save war bonds + grind out levels in each specific class to get weapons that are not complete shit. I thought HC might make the game a bit more fun.. I was mistaken. BF1 will be added to a stack of games I unfortunately have purchased and regretted spending the hard earned smack on. Honestly.. I had much more fun online with the original BF and the DC Mod. Guess they cannot all be winners.

I agree with some of the things you have said, the loadout deal is annoying as hell, the content does seem limited, I mean why the fuck do I have to grind out separate pistols as well, that's just fucking stupid imo lol. Other than that I'm still killing time playing the game, we will see how long it holds out, you can already feel like population dwindling as you have said.

I skipped bf4. I might as well pick it up, its only $6 on cdkeys.

This feels more like an intermediate off shoot of the series than a main entry. It is okay, but the menu design and the like is horrible. The grind is real to.

A poorly done knock off at that. BC2 was the most recent release on this franchise I really liked to sink time into. BF1 reeks of "we ain't even trying any more... have fun grinding out the gear suckerz". The only upside to the suckage so far is BF4 servers will be up for some time.

This is how I rank the BF games I've played:

1. BF3
2. BFBC2
3. BF4
4. BF1

This is how I rank the BF games I've played:

1. BF3
2. BFBC2
3. BF4
4. BF1

For me it's prolly something like this:

1) Original BF 1942 (thats with road to Rome and secret weps)
2) BF 1942 Desert Combat mod... played this until I could not find servers.
3) BF2 Bad Company
4) BF3/4.. tossem in the same bucket.

Went back to BF4 last night as BF1 lacks entertainment value for me at this point.

BF42 with Desert Combat and POE mods were amazing. BF Vietnam, the original, was incredible. Choppers with music broadcasting like in Apocalypse Now? Just sick.

Bf1 could be good, if they allowed mods. Which they won't. So yeah. Frustrating. Going to die the cod death on pc at least. It is now almost entirely a console game.

Let us fix your crap ea. Or take those dicks out of your ears and LISTEN to us.

So many people fell for the game trailer. It was as if a lot of COD players bought it just because BF1 trailer was better than theirs. I ain't buying a game based on it again.

This is how I rank the BF games I've played:

1. BF3
2. BFBC2
3. BF4
4. BF1

I'd go with:

1) BF3
2) BF4 <-- Because of horrid launch bugs and felt similar to 3, but was the better game overall.
3) BFBC2
4) BF2
5) BF1

I have a tough time ranking them, but BF1 would definitely be bottom for me. It reminds of Hardline in a way.

Hardline overall wasn't horrible, but the execution was. They had some interesting MP ideas that they didn't think all the way through. I actually enjoyed Hardline more than BF1, but BF1 to me isn't the game they teased or advertised. At least Hardline stuck to its concept for the most part.

I would have to go with the rose tinted glasses approach.
1. BF2
2. BC2
3. BF3
4. BF1
5. BF4
6. MoH

BF1 feels way too much like a free to play game, that I unfortunately had to pay upfront for; battlepacks, obvious lack of content and progressive grind for essentially the same thing on multiple classes etc. IMO BC2 wast he biggest leap when it comes to innovation, it brought destruction and the Rush game mode, I didn't play BF4 long due to the shitty netcode and bugs at luanch.

In BF2 I could name my squads, "VOIP PTFO" or "VOIP Attack". I never played a single game without the benefit of being in a squad that communicated intimately on the in game voip, or lacked close squad play. It didn't matter if it was a pub server or clan server.

Then, with BF3, some genius of a colossal asshole at DICE removed the ability to rename squads. Maybe it was the same asshole, but they also removed in game VOIP completely. Then when BF4 was released, they put VOIP back. But you still can't rename squads. What a flying fucking asshole.

We had airfields. We could steal aircraft. We could sabotage aircraft. We had command assets to sabotage. All gone.

We had a commander mode with air drops of vehicles, supplies, surveillance, you know, things that enhance teamwork, communications, and situational awarenes.

DICE claims it's a fucking team game, but I get squad assist points when I'm on the other side of the map ignoring them completely.

What kind of assholes remove VOIP from a team play based game? It fucking kills me. They create a situation where VOIP was common, and it enhanced gameplay. Then they fucked it up so bad that I'm shocked when my squads communicates on any level, let alone by voip, and I'm shocked when my squads PTFO together. They literally created an environment that was optimal, then destroyed it completely.

MF'er, that shit pissed me off so bad at the time. Now I've just grown to accept mediocrity from them.

Now, BF1. I like maybe 3 maps, maybe 4. I like maybe one weapon from each class. I know I'm strange, but I have to like a weapon to use it. If I don't want to own a certain weapon in real life, I don't give any fucks about using them in a game. I don't give any fucks about most of BF1's weapons.

I don't like the medic class being forced to use semi auto rifles with no access to any form of smg. Maybe it's an attempt at period correctness, but all it does in practice is make it so medics are few and far between on the battlefield. I'm shocked when my squad has a medic, stunned when it has more than 1. Medic was once my preferred class, and now I don't even want to play it. That's not to say the medic weapons are bad though, but they force you to be at a disadvantage in cqb.

I don't like BF1'S vehicle repair system. I have to hold X for an entire individual repair cycle, can't maneuver while repairing, one repair cycle only repairs a minor portion of damage, and every new impact from something as weak as a sniper's K bullet stops the repair cycle. Once you get in deep shit you have no chance of getting out, so they have become stand off weapons.

I could go on and on.

Basically they had a GREAT game with BF2 and abandoned it completely. They should have built upon that. But as you know with any business people get moved to other positions in companies, managers change, and people come and go. Somewhere in that mix the person with creative power for BF2 left the scene or was put in a position to not be able to make decisions.

I am still enjoying this game. The only BF game that I haven't liked is 2142. I do however wish they still supported mods...DC was the shit and really paved the way for BF2 and beyond.

Some things I think they could improve:
-Make people that you're in a vehicle with able to hear your mic even if they're not in your squad
-1st or 3rd person cam view of the squad mate you're thinking about spawning on
-Medics able to carry shotguns again
-Make flag captures slightly shorter in conquest
-FIX THE DAMN MEDALS. So many times I should've completed a medal yet I don't get credit. WAY TO OFTEN
-Allow for more then 24 players in domination, TD, etc
-Bring back bases
-It should auto spot someone if you are shooting at them long enough...seems like im the only guy spotting and it's frustrating

I agree with all of your points. Medic class is a shadow of it's former self. Armor play is very generic and watered down.

Game overall is very shallow and the games virtually always play out the same.

Game is beautiful. I want to like the single player campaign, I appreciate the concept of the multiple viewpoints of the war and the locales are cool.

But the AI is original Doom stupid. Seriously, at what point did devs just decide to completely ignore AI and think it wasn't completely immersion shattering for 5 guys to stand there staring straight ahead as you crouch-walk by 10 feet away in broad daylight, at a ~90 degree angle to them?

The greatness of BF2 is mostly attributable to Trauma Studios which isn't all that surprising given that Desert Combat was the sole reason many people bought BF1942. Not unexpected that everything subsequent has been a disappointment in one way or another, its a shame that after being shuttered the devs failed at producing anything else worthwhile during their time as Kaos Studios.

From the wiki,
"Battlefield 2 is a 2005 first-person shooter video game, developed by Digital Illusions CE, with contributions by Trauma Studios."

Thanks for letting me know. I didn't know there was outside hands on it which explains why the greatness suddenly disappeared.

The game is so shit I lack words to describe.

Just got banned from the BF1 forum for a week for posting this. The usual no name and shame bs. The game is shit and it comes from a guy who can go 3.4 k/d, flags, all weapons over 25%, teamwork, objectives bla bla bla etc. BF1 is a pointless game, basically killing people with no hands. I never thought I would like Overwatch when it came out and it took me a while to like it. Blizzard does have people with brains while EA monkey with tools and such are their respective games.
