Alright, which one of you perverts lost a drone? If you can answer yes to all of the questions below, the police would like to have a chat with you:

  1. Are you missing a quadcopter?
  2. Did you lose it this morning, in Orem?
  3. Are you looking over your shoulder to see if the police are following you?
  4. Have you been convicted of voyeurism in the past?
  5. Does the SD card in your quadcopter camera have videos of people in their private bedrooms and/or bathrooms?
  6. On the same SD card is there a picture of you flying your quadcopter?
  7. Would you like to turn yourself in before we have to come knocking at your door, maybe on Christmas morning, with a warrant?”

Lol. I'd say losing the drone would be worth not getting caught, but the guy has a picture of himself on it? Good luck pervert.

The cops already know who it is. They just wanted to get the word out this is happening and to save face for the culprit.

Wouldn't serving an arrest warrant on Christmas morning be almost as much a punishment for the police officers as it would be for the suspect?

Ha, there are cops on the Christmas shift. Sucks, but emergency services still need to function year round.

Police should have posted a full defintion "Looking for a Person of Interest" notice on their website with the suspect's mug at the controls. The public embarrassment would probably be worth as much punishment value as whatever sentence the person gets. And his neighbors could get a head start on contacting lawyers about lawsuits for privacy violations.

Of course. I think, though, that the service of an arrest warrant on a peeping tom would be stretching the definition of "emergency" just a bit. :)

So isn't there some law requiring you to register any drone weighing more than 1/2 a pound?

If they're already out there, might as well give them a bit of fun to do. It's probably a good break from the numerous family assault calls/dead junkie retrieval they get to deal with.

"On the same SD card is there a picture of you flying your quadcopter?"
I should hope they have better proof than that, maybe the peeper has a thing for peeping on other drone pilots as well ;)

But it wasn't me.
The drone became self aware and was trying to build an army by selling pictures on the internet.

Glad you found it and shut it down before it was able to complete it's plans for world domination

Pffft... Orem? Really? I wouldn't even waste my time with that porn. I'm totally still working through the 10G file from the Chinese loan scams.

I bet there are fingerprints all over that drone.

I wonder how close that quad copter has to be to get a decent shot. I know when I fly mine (not to spy on anyone). If I'm over 20 feet in the air everyone looks like ants and that is with a GoPro 4 Black.....

Yes, and like many other stupid laws, they are put in place to prevent events like this from ever happening lol. /s

I am not even sure it is 'law' either. I registered when it was free but didn't put the number on any of my drones because out here, no one cares lol.
