Windows desktop switching resolution automatically when using TV as a monitor...

Hi all I've just purchased a Samsung TV KS8000 (EU) and I have a random issue related to using the TV as a PC monitor. I'm running a Windows 7 os and GTX 1070 gpu, my PC is directly hooked to the HDMI 2 on the One connect box. I like to run my desktop resolution at 1080p because 4k makes everything too small. Anyway my issue is that sometimes randomly when I switch sources on the TV and back to the HDMI 2 port (where the PC is connected) my desktop resolution automatically switches to 4k and I have to change the resolution back to 1080p from the nvidia control panel every time.

How can I stop this from happening? I want my desktop to be on 1080p all the time on this TV not 4k or any other resolution.

Any help would be appreciated.

Why would you use 1080p res? Just set scaling to 200% and it will be like 1080p but text is large, sharp and nice looking.

Jeez guys give him a break.
He might be sat too far away for 4K res.
And a GTX1070 is better suited to 1080p than 4K if you like to up the quality settings.

Op have you tried cloning the desktop to all displays.
If it still plays up, try setting the primary display to your 1080p monitor, hopefully that will make it stick.

Exactly. With the way GPU drivers currently are, all lower resolutions will be blurry. Just use DPI scaling, it looks great on the display.

Don't be silly. He can use 4K res with scaling on the desktop and have whatever resolution he wants in game if the game does not run smooth at 4K.
Scaling makes the text large so he shall be able to see it even at distance. There is no reason at all to use 1080p for the desktop unless he has a GPU that can't run higher res, which is not the case.
