I hooked my Omen up alongside my HP ZR30W and did the clock test. Average over 12 different samples was 3 ms faster than my ZR30W. Which puts the Omen in the 8-11 ms range, depending on where you find the input lag of the ZR30W. Either way it's faster than my ZR30W which I do not notice input lag on.

Awesome, thanks. 8-11ms is pretty great, considering this thing is currently $309 at hp.com. Was this at 1440p?

What video card? what mode?

Thanks for testing.

Decided to keep the Omen as my main monitor over the 27 Fast 144 Crossover.

Yes, the Crossover is a bit smoother at 144hz+Freesync, Shadow Warrior 2 as the demo, but 27" looked tiny now compared to the Omen. The Omen was still smooth enough to not be a huge distraction or issue.

Great buy. Next year maybe we'll get a 34" 144hz Ultrawide Omen with HDR for a good price :)

During the PWM test, should the line stutter back and forth a little as it moves across the screen?

Mine was built in September 2016 and it seems to be pretty good to me. I'm no monitor expert though. I played some BF1 and thoroughly enjoyed the monitor paired with my 1070 in 1440p @ 75Hz.

For those of you who own this monitor, how is the black crush that VA is known to suffer from? Has HP done something to minimize it?

I just received this monitor and am unfamiliar with BLB, but I think mine has a bad case of it. There is a really blue hue in the bottom left corner on black backgrounds. Should I be exchanging this?

I went to HP since I bought mine from Jet.com on a coupon. I would recommend returning to your reseller before going to HP. You will get a reconditioned model.

They give you a reconditioned model? Dang, that sucks.

Could you take a picture from a few different angles, or even a video showing the change in gamma/black crush from different angles?

Haha, I'll see what i can do, not sure I can make a video worth a damn with a camera phone. There's definitely black crush on the monitor, but it's not horrible. I'll try some pictures later tonight.

Ok thanks! Also, how is the anti glare coating on the monitor? Is it a light AG coating? Medium, heavy, etc.

No, not the size of the screen but the PWM flickering of the Omen was problematic for me. When the PWM (pulse width modulation) of a monitor runs at too low of a frequency it causes eye fatigue and headaches for many people. Info here: http://www.flatpanelshd.com/focus.php?subaction=showfull&id=1362457985.

As far as 49" being insane you aren't looking at it the right context. If you consider there are many people with multiple monitor setups that match or go beyond the real estate taken by a 49" screen it makes sense. A large 4k screen is like having multiple high res monitors on one screen without bezels. You don't maximize windows to full screen you work with multiple smaller windows.

Example here: http://www.ozone3d.net/public/jegx/201412/geforce-gtx970-4k-tv-monitor-hdmi2.jpg

As long as you have a big enough desk it's wonderful for productivity and gaming is very immersive. I could never go back to a 32" or 27" screen as a primary monitor now.

I just can't see it. Your head would become unscrewed by the end of the work day.

Got mine yesterday on the $299 Costco deal. I must say I was excited to load up BF4 and BF1 on it but really the newly crispy hardforum and all other webpages look great. Granted I have always used lower end TN panels less about 6 month used of an Asus p278 which looked good but not near the level as this monitor. I'm still using my trusty Asus 7970 DiCU and games are very fluid at 1440P. It is unfortunate my 7970 doesn't support freesync but I believe I'll hold out till AMD releases their new cards.

This was a jam up deal @ $299.

I wish I got lucky. My panel has some issues.

Edit: Fortunately, I called up Costco and they are sending me a new one for exchange. I'm glad I bought from them.

Seriously, why not. I got mine yesterday. I love it except for what I think is some pretty bad backlight bleed.

Your monitor looks just like mine. You're going to get some BLB with this monitor it seems, unless you get lucky. It's up to you whether you take the chance on getting a worse one when you RMA or return/exchange. The monitor is quite large though and you'll notice the BLB seems to lessen the farther back you are from the monitor or from different angles. This BLB almost feels more like IPS glow to me.

I have 2 other VA panels (Acer 27 inch 1080p) and they all exhibit some type of BLB, although the HP takes the cake. Then again it is substantially larger than my 27 inch Acers. My LG 29 inch Ultrawide didn't have BLB, but had IPS glow..which annoyed me in the same ways.

You're going to be stuck with something.

I do also notice some banding on the HP, but nothing that would show up unless I'm looking at a gray screen or a blank word document.

I'm gonna try another one. Costco is pretty good about returns. I think I got a little banding, but not serious. I know some folks have gotten one of these displays without any backlight bleed. This one just was too annoying for me. A bit of glow I can live with, but a constant blue corner on dark screens, I cannot.

Looks a bit worse than mine but not much. I have very minimal glow in the four corners of the screen. The display is edge lit, so glow in the corners is normal.

I'm pleased to report after setting up all three HP Omen 32 screens tonight they are all completely satisfactory. No visible backlight bleed on any of them. No quality control issues. They all look similarly great!

I am not pleased to discover I need a new power supply. I neglected to verify my PC Power and Cooling 750 watt PSU had 4 eight pin pci-e cords. It only has 2 eight pin and 2 six pin. My Fury X cards each require two eight pins. (4 total)

I'm going to admit the three are bigger than I expected. They are nearly 81" across even curved in around the center and bezels overlapped. They hang off my desk a bit on both sides and I have a very large desk.

You sir must be the luckiest man in the world. I received 3 BAD units in a row.

Here's a good power supply you won't be disappointed with and its a pretty good price. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...8062&cm_re=EVGA_1000GQ-_-17-438-062-_-Product

I picked up three from Amazon. Only minimal backlight bleed or banding, nothing I can notice in use. Nothing like the bad example pictures here.

My nvidia card does have them frame skipping at 75 Hz, not noticeable outside the test though.

Archaea, I haven't been willing to commit to twin furys yet, please let me know how they work out.

Anyone use a colorometer? What are your favorite color/picture settings?

Got about 10 hours on mine now and I love it. Barely fiddled with the settings at all.

I think I may do an online return as well. Bought it at Costco here.

I have a stuck pixel and Costco has no more inventory to do an exchange at this point. only a return.
But I was town anyway. I currently have a hp zr2740w, which I for whatever seem to like better.

I doubt hp will exchange it for that one pixel and I am afraid to go through the hassle and receive one with a different issue.

Stuck pixels can sometimes fix themselves if exposed to rapid color changes. Here's an app to give that a try.

If any [H] NYC folks missed out on this deal and want to buy one at cost, shoot me a PM in the next 12hrs or so. I picked up a couple from Costco that I'm going to send back (since I subsequently purchased from HP)... just as easy to pass along the savings.
