No support for Xbox One wireless controller/PC adapter, apparently. Kind of kills it for me, but seems like a good deal otherwise.

Does this provide any additional functionality over just using another machine on your network to stream games from Steam?

Size that's pretty much it I had when it came out and didn't like it much, it felt like it was lagging a few seconds every time you move around the menu etc and this is while hook up via Ethernet and no more then 5 feet away from my fios router.

Indie games work great with this thing (specially 2D) for other genres it was hit and miss I tested about a dozen or so games (NBA 2K16, Lef 4 dead etc) some games where playable others it turn into a slide show fest.

Same. It's been on my wishlist for a while, just because. $20 is a good price, but then I realized I'd need to pick up a new controller (just have an old logitech PS2 style) and try to get ethernet from the office downstairs up to the tv (powerlink?) and $20 quickly became more. Maybe someday.
 
If you have a new AC router it works great over wireless. I have a 6ms lag because of wireless with my Asus 3100AC. I'm two floors away from the router with the Steam Link. The lag is unperceivable.

You can use a Xbox360 controller.

My biggest pain point with it is if the game encounters an issue the steam link can be knocked off balance. Perhaps a different resolution, perhaps a direct x error, perhaps a minimize or popup. It all jacks up the streaming session and since the steam link doesn't work on the windows desktop I have to go down two flight of stairs to fix an error. That almost makes it worthless. It works great if there are no abnormalities - but we are running windows - abnormalities are a given.
 
It's also $20 directly through steam now as their Autumn sale started.

Steam controller + link is $49.48
 
I have an xbox 360 wireless controller so I'm hoping this will "just work".

Xbox360 wireless controller needs the wireless adapter. (the same one used for a PC) But yes it works.
So does the corded Xbox360 controller.
 
This is a long shot but does anyone know if this works with the controller plugged into the host machine and not the steamlink itself? I have 360 wireless controllers on my pc right now. It's in a central enough location in the basement that they work fine within proximity of my tv's. It'd be nice to keep them bound to my pc and use them anywhere rather than having to buy a new receiver for each steamlink and have to keep re-pairing them when I move to a different tv.
 
I guess I wish I had waited. I bought this for $35 a month ago. Currently using it for rocket league and street fighter V. I don't have issues with rocket league but every once in a while, SFV lags which I'm chucking up the connection on my opponent's side. This is also with with the steam link connected to a small switch which is connected to the 24 port switch for everything else in the house (didn't want to run another Cat5e cable for my fire tv). I'm very happy with it. My gaming computer in the basement is setup for sim racing and doesn't work great for other kinds of games.

Just tried this with my 360 wireless and that does not work. The host machine becomes the active screen and steam link stops responding on the other end.

Over the past year I've enjoyed my steam link mostly for media streaming, but I also play games that don't suffer too much from a little bit of extra input lag. The performance varies from machine to machine though; I have had no luck playing SF5 over the Link with my rig, but it could also probably use upgrading.

If anyone cant find one on Amazon, but want one, it's $19.99 on Steam itself, but shipping to Texas is like 8 dollars for it by itself.
 
Bought one a week before the price drop. Its an incredible machine. Very worthwile when you have a good pc.

One of the best controller is the wii u pro controller. They have support for the dual shock 3 , wii u pro, xbox 360 , xbox one s controller.

It does wok, thats the only controller i use. You have to plug in both controller and wireless adapter at the same time, they will sync and then you can unplug the controller and remove the usb cord. Then when you want to play you just sit on the couch and press the power button on the controller and it wakes up the steam link. I love mine, had zero problems, except one small one, last night playing wolfenstine new order - the sound would stop. The game played fine but the sound would just stop. I figured out it was my USB headphones connected to my PC. For some reason CW new order would switch sound to my headphones. So i unplugged them and fixed it. My xbox wireless controller works perfectly... almost zero lag... i wouldnt play..say counter strke cs online...you would get owned, but i dont play online anyway. For sitting on the couch and having access to you PC...its awesome...even at full price.
