ASUS ROG 17.3" Gaming Laptop in $994 (New Egg Black Friday)

Wow. God damn this is definitely the one time of the year I'd love to be in the US.
All that with a 980m. Sweet

Yeah I paid 150 dollars more for the version with the 970 in it about 6 months ago :(

Great laptop, heavy, but powerful. Has been a fantastic desktop replacement for me.

How is Asus for laptop quality these days. I'm really loving my MSI GE72-2OE and it's quality. I owned an Asus A1 back in the day and it had an issue with the video card getting to hot and de-soldering, so I've stayed away from them since.

I got that exact model 5 or 6 months ago and had to return it. All but 1 USB port stopped working and I couldn't boot or restart with AC power plugged in without it going into a boot loop. Lasted less and a week, but I think that I was just unlucky.

However, it IS a very powerful laptop, and with overclocking the 980M is essentially a desktop 970. It's a big laptop. Finish is nice. Cooling is fairly good, and is rather quiet. The Gsync screen is AWESOME. RAM upgrade is difficult as 2 of the 4 slots are beneath the keyboard. The DVD tray's end (the lip) tends to come off if you aren't careful, and one of the tabs might break so it won't snap back on completely.

I'm more curious about this laptop: https://www.amazon.com/GL502VS-DB71-FullHD-Gaming-i76700HQ-Windows/dp/B01K1INYD0

Obviously it's quite a bit more.

Really not a good deal. The new 1060 is faster than the 980m and only a couple hundred more.
