EVE Online Is Now Free To Play

I may dive into Eve Online now that it is free to play. Gotta keep my studies up though. Challenge accepted! :D

Not wrong at all. I played EvE for a long time. it is by far the most Hardcore MMO there is, I'm talking universities studying the economy in it.

To anyone who hasn't played it before I'll just put this.

Skills train in real time using books. You're going to be against some people who have 13 years of training under their belts, you can't catch up.

A new character with no implants and skill training boots and such gains about 1800 skill points per hour, you aren't close to being decently combat ready until around the 18-20 million mark. And you'll be up against http://eveboard.com/fullranks/1-skillpoints/p1/

Note, if you want to be a miner, effectively, in low sec space, you will need 3 accounts, and the ability to play them all simultaneously. Or REALLY patient friends.
OR...

If you got a big fat wallet, you can actually buy skillpoints all the way up to the cap. You have to buy plex to sell them to get ISK to buy skill injectors.

Interesting. Still can't be interested in going back. Too much of a time sink. Was fun years ago when you didn't have to have capital skills to have fun.

Always wanted to play this game but don't do subscriptions for anything so now is my chance to check it out.

I didn't know that, I got out before skill injectors were a thing heh. I quit right as Dreads were coming out

Actually I kind of wonder how much my main char is worth now, too bad they disabled non-active account skill training.

Yeah I did a double-take when I saw Skill Injectors/Extractors were a real thing. I thought that was an idea shot down a million times over the years.

Nah...I played it during a free trial when it was fairly new and just couldn't get in to it. I prefer single-player sims with a mix of story-based and open-world elements, which is why I still play Freelancer.
