I did one for store pickup for shits and giggles to see what happens. I see a lot of people on slick deals are getting errors or having the product switch to a GTX 1070 when they add it to their car (on the BB website). Also seen some people having orders cancelled through both the BB website and ebay so I would say chances are slim that it works.

I bought on Ebay but it was immediately canceled because the local store was out of stock for pickup. Bought again on bestbuy.com with free shipping which also triggered an Amex offer (Spend $250 or more, get $25 back off)

I bought it on ebay since ive got nothing to lose if its indeed just a 1070. Says my local store has them in stock and ill get a text when its ready. we shall see...

$477 w/tax btw. Still an insane deal if it goes through

Small update, my closest best buy is out of 1080 AND 1070s so my order was canceled. Switched to a store that only has a few 1080s left and NO 1070s. Hopefully thatll force the issue when i walk in there.

Bought one as well, thanks for the heads-up!!!! I bought a GTX 1070 ACX 3.0 that I was already thinking of returning for the VRM issue and this makes it an easy excuse to do so if they honor this. Over 30 days since I got the 1070, but 45 day Elite Plus return window ftw.

Correction, hedged my bets and bought 2 lol, one from the website with free shipping and one from ebay with store pickup, we'll see if either or both comes through.

Screw it, pulled trigger on store pickup. Total with tax was 480, and part numbers show 1080 card.

Ebay pickup order got cancelled due to "Out of Stock", we'll see about the store bought one!

Well I got my order ready for pickup promptly at 9 so I guess I will try and pick it up on the way home from work.

The tread over at SD has been pretty busy this morning with much speculation. Feels a bit hinky to me.

I went ahead and bit the bullet.

I've really wanted a 1080 (mostly for VR; my 970 is OK for everything else), but couldn't justify the stratospheric price.
If I really get one at this price, it'll be worth it.

Though definitely not for the 1070.

SD tread says a few people lucked out, they had 1070's brought out, indicating it is indeed a mistake. Manager overrides needed (and probably some whining/puppy dog eyes) to actually get it. So assume it's indeed a mistake.

It refunded me 15 minutes after ordering:

You order from best_buy was canceled because: "Item was out of stock"

Ordered 2 for store pickup, just waiting for my confirmation email that they're ready.

Anddddd, my cancellation email just arrived lol. OOS bs, they're just realizing the error haha.

bought one off best buy see if they ship me a 1080...will update upon delivery (est. monday 21st)

Gah, the tax is a killer. This is a good deal if you're in the market for a FE for 480 ish. It's cheap but its still nearly 500 bones.

From the slickdeals thread, it looks like best bet is to do in store pickup, and have them price match. If you ship there will be no human to be asked to price match the mistake.

The online listing is now showing "Sold Out" so they've most likely caught the mistake. If they do ship the 1070 to me, I'll just return it anyways, at which point I'll say they shipped the wrong item and see if they'll honor the 1080 listed in all of my order pick-ups/online receipts. Either way no biggy, worth a shot. :)

Same here. Was close to pulling the trigger this morning, but decided to pass. Just spent 750 on an x34 so the 970 will have to do for now.

I'm in the same boat. I have heard that some people were able to get their 1080s and some were not. Looks like it depends on your bartering skills.
if I do manage to get one, my next step will be to look into switching my XR341CK to the X34

Update coming in 10 minutes.... in store

1080 in hand!!! Yes sir! They wouldn't honor eBay's screw up but once I showed their actual website listing, they "price matched". I think the "Sold out" actually helped, showing people were buying them at that price

at best buy now waiting for pickup.. tried to bring me 1070... think theyre gonna price match.. but had to go through a bunch of back and forth about i got what i ordered.. and im like i dont order by skus. i heard them talk override so hope ill be heading out soon

Saw this deal early this morning on Slickdeals. Just got back with my new GTX 1080. I did online pick up and got to the store at 10:30 this morning. At first they brought out a GTX 1070. Told the girl it was for a GTX 1080. She called over a manager. He came over and gave the ok to match the price for a 1080. Turns out they only had one left, got lucky there.

They did make me do another purchase for the card. Told me I had to call a number to cancel my online order. Other than that, it went smoothly.

Well my online order already shipped, still has 1080 plastered all over soooo, I'll have to wait and see when it arrives Monday, it will probably be a 1070 but I'll take it in-store and see if they'll do a swap. For anyone else who ordered online you may want to CYA and do an informal phone camera unboxing video to avoid any potential issues at BB of products not matching.

It took a little back and forth here too but it seems their own website is hurting them. As long as it stays at "Sold Out", if your store has the stock, you should be good.

Sawgrass in Sunrise FL has 1 more FYI.

That's a lie. They can cancel the order right there. He even waited for me to get the email before he rang me up. Lying bastards

Yeah that did seem strange to me that wouldn't cancel my online order there in the store. They didn't give me any attitude about the price match and they did spent five minutes looking for the GTX 1080 in the store. So I didn't push the issue.

"We're sorry. This item is not available for pickup within 250 miles..."
