Is Windows 7 still nagging for Windows 10 upgrade?

Hey folks!

I've got a couple of family members who hate Windows 10 and brought me their machines to put Windows 7 on this weekend.

Are there any steps I need to take to prevent an automatic upgrade to Windows 10 or even any nags about it, or is that all over with now that the 1 year deadline has long since come and gone? I just want to make sure when I send these machines back home they don't try and upgrade to Windows 10 at random. :D

I have not seen nor heard of it popping up so you're probably good to go but GWX control panel is so small and takes ten seconds to click the gizmos it has for insurance because at the rate MS feels that it can push out updates, who knows what could happen.

I have a few 7 vm's and they don't get nagged anymore. Should be perfectly safe.

I did a clean install of 7 a week or two after the free upgrade expired (cough) and downloaded every available update. I didn't get any nag screens. I checked the C:\ drive and the Windows folder and there were no GWX remnants. So they did remove it for new installs. You still get all the telemetry crap though.

There are some lists of KB updates to avoid downloading. Maybe even on here - let me know if so. I don't trust MS to not nerf Windows 7 in one way or a dozen. I haven't updated my 7 in months <<<paranoid>>>

The descriptions on Windows Update are not very good but you can click the link for more info. The telemetry updates are clearly labeled and easy to avoid.

if you keep your windows up to date, then no, there was a update released to disable the nag.
