RIP Newegg, you weren't good lately anyway

thought it was always owned by them. since the main office has always been filled with them.

I still order from Newegg once or twice a year for computer parts only. I don't see the point of their marketplace since I can buy off ebay for cheaper from often the same companies. More of my non PC tech purchases have been Amazon though since I don't upgrade my PC much.

I never understood why America allows foreign students to come to colleges/universities in the US. They obtain their BA/BS, MA/MS, MD/PhD's etc and then we send them right back home to the countries they came from so they can compete against us... We're pretty retarded about our immigration policies. White America will fade away soon enough... and that's a good thing. Wait, how did I get here? lol

Allow it? I'm not sure you could ban students unless you halt all immigration and movement between countries. Anyway, allowing foreign students is a good thing politically because when they go back to their native countries they tend to be friendly to the US interests both economically and politically.

There's a whole ton of import/export business in City of Industry where they are based that are Chinese American owned and have close ties back to Taiwan and mainland China manufacturing.

I can't even purchase from newegg or their ebay deals. My account password got stolen, CC card company dispute and now newegg blacklisted my name with my address. They accept the payment, then cancel the order the next day. I have spoken with several representative and cannot get it resolved.

BTW: Making another account doesn't help.

SCREW NEWEGG.

You must have had a keylogger or the person who used your account guessed the security code on the back of your card.. or your CC company was hacked and they got all your card info including the security code.

No other way for somebody to use your account and stored CC card.

I had my original account hacked and somebody tried to use it to buy some SSDs and ship them to California.

The charge was declined because they didn't enter the correct security code.

I should have never informed Newegg because they promptly permanently disabled my account that I had since 2000 and I had to make a new one.

It really depends on who you let into the country. The 9/11 Islamic terrorists took flight training in the US.

But the way things are now, we can't "ban" anybody now because it would be "unfair", "Islamaphobic", "Racist", etc.

What a revoltin' development! I built my last 3 rigs with components from Newegg. Time to start looking elsewhere, I suppose.
Why would you look elsewhere. Your parts are all made in China. I'm thinking that maybe just maybe, the prices might go down and secondly the profiteering of the N American middleman might just go down also.

Must be the same as here. The foreign students pay 2 to 3 times the tuition fees. Colleges/universities are a business and need to make a profit to get the best and brightest proffs.

Hopefully this means they will start stocking all products in domestic warehouses. There's some good stuff on there, which you've had to wait a month for, on shipping.

I dunno I still buy all most of my pc stuff from the Egg, I always know what I am looking for when I go there so I type that in the search box and no issue.
I have used NewEgg since they opened shop and have never had a problem they did not quickly rectify. Guess I'll keep giving them a try unless they fail.
I generally only buy books from amazon and I still don't like them, no paypal and taxes.. bugger off.

No biggie.

Got a local Microcenter...that plus Amazon and occasionally ZipZoomFly, and things are covered.

Haven't bought from Egg since the socket-pin scandal.

Why are a lot of you even making a big deal over nothing when Newegg is still has the best search site in the world for browsing through their catalog with fine-grain control and of options that is unmatched that is all most 100% perfect unlike with Amazon which is fracking god dame mess and users review forum is joke when they started cramming all same product series in to one forum which I hate and like other here one other reason is have PayPal which I had 15+ years.
I agree the marketplace crap need to go

I do the same, except I've got a Frys here too and a BadBuy. I only begrudgingly buy from newegg if forced to and luckily with B&H ramping up their gpu sales, has not been an issue.

I thought they were already owned by a Chinese company.

Anyway, I buy from them a lot still. Their warehouse is in my town, so will-call is way better than driving to Frys or Microcenter most of the time. I hope they survive... (disclaimer: didn't RTFA).

I really can't stand Amazon anymore since it takes them a week just to get something out the door.
Hi jwcalla, you probably getting things taking forever to ship because you are buying things that aren't on Amazon Prime, ideally you want stuff on Prime that is shipped from and sold by Amazon LLC.

poor choice of words on my part. i didn't mean they shouldn't allow international students.

what i meant to say was, they're allowed to stay in the US for schooling but is then is almost forced to go back to their native countries, unless supported/sponsored.

Anybody familiar with this kind of thing know how this will impact the company? I am... Heavily invested in Newegg (not stocks).

I had stopped buying from them so long ago I do not even care. Last thing I bought from them was a 7970 at launch.

Dude what? You realize they let us study over seas as well...White america will fade away?

"CHYNAH" is buying up so many US businesses and property lately, its insane. People make fun, but if we don't do something soon, we are going to be just like the fallen British empire and China will be the new United States, leaving us behind like a forgotten once glorious relic.

thank goodness for most of the world that the British empire fell.

Still try to buy on Newegg since they don't charge tax in my state.

You do know you are legally bound to pay that sales tax on your tax forms for the state.

It's amazing the number of people on here who admit to breaking the law.

I coulda swore it was a chinese company already, no idea why.

Yep, That is what I thought too since they are flooded with chinese knock off.

I havent use Newegg for a long time since their price isnt any better than what I got from Amazon, and Amazon I can get it free of tax, while Newegg charge tax in my state (CA).

stopped shopping there when the tried to become walmart. You can find women's clothing, to chainsaws on there now

Why? Britain was the Roman Empire of its day, and brought civilization, trade, and stability to the world.

Everywhere Britain colonized was ultimately far more successful (or at least productive) than it ever was before (out of self-interest, just like the Romans, but a civilizing and unifying force nonetheless).

They colonized Singapore, which went from an ultra-impoverished small fishing village to one of the most prosperous trading ports in the world. The same can be said of the small city of Hong Kong that the British transformed into a world powerhouse for trade. South Africa likewise went from various stone-age technology tribal villages without even a written language to having a GDP greater than the entire rest of sub-saharan Africa combined, as they brought with them massive investments in modernizing the land building rail and ports and factories, etc... North America, again British colonies, have been tremendously fruitful, and likewise Australia went from a barely populated mini-continent with a few boomerangs on it, to a major world player. Lastly, while the Indians may have rebelled like us Americans when we no longer wanted to share the fruits of our labor, but India went from a clusterfudge of fighting little impoverished (at the time at least) lands with a cruel strict caste system to an actual unified country which before that it had never been, and British rule was far more benevolent than the previous Islamic one, and they brought a language to unify the people and got rid of many backwards Indian practices and brought about a modern British way of thinking and building and infrastructure.

The world would be quite a mess without the British, and we wouldn't be speaking English now if it wasn't for the greatness of the British Empire.

Like most empires though, they rested on their laurels as things got too good and easy for them, future generations became soft and self-defeating, and ultimately became irrelevant. America is next on that route, ready to hand the torch over to China if we don't get our shit together, get hungry, get unified, and work together to make America great again.

It's always been run by Chinese. The founder and upper management is Taiwanese. So now it's owned by mainland China. 99% of their products are made in China anyways..

I don't think the Fall of the British Empire can be attributed to "Future generations going soft." They lost the US when they were at the peak of their power (or just a couple of decades before the peak of their power). The others were mostly lost after the massive moral, military and economic exhaustion of fighting the 2 world wars.

While it's true that, if you're going to be subjugated by anyone, being subjugated by Britain is one of the better alternatives, I know I surely wouldn't choose to be subjugated by anyone, not Britain, not China, not anyone, even if they were to kick-start the economy and increase the GDP multiple times.

I can't complain about Newegg since they've always been good to me. Lately I've been buying most of my computer parts from Microcenter in Cambridge, MA. though. I did buy a cable from Newegg earlier this month just because I didn't feel like driving into Boston to get it and I didn't need it THAT quickly.

I'll still buy stuff from Newegg if I need to but I'd rather give my money to local shops anyways. I'm lucky enough to have Microcenter and a few mom and pop computer stores in my area that I can get parts from. My only gripes with Microcenter are that when you buy high dollar items they make you wait in a special line to check out and it always moves at a pace slightly slower than molasses going uphill during a New England blizzard. :D My other gripe? The constant push to get you to buy stuff you don't want or need. That's a whole other story best saved for another time though.

that strategy never works in civ v.

Lately? Uh hoss....It has been going on since the 1980s. If you're curious on the history of the sale of American businesses to Chinese interests....it all really seriously started with a fellow named Romney and a company name BAIN Capital.

CEOs don't mind as they love to cash out big. And after all no one should care but about themselves and how large a personal fortune they amass.

Oh great. There goes all my personal information.

Sold to the highest...and lowest bidder.

Somebody's going to be running around with my identity.

How new is China at any rate? Pax Britannica of post-Napoleonic age came on the heels 150 years of stable Manchu rule when China alone had higher GDP than the world at large. Never mind the Chinese age of sail during early 1400s.

Having said that, I wouldn't want to see USA as the sick man of America.

I haven't bought from Newegg in a while also. Amazon is much better.
The only great thing about their website using it with Hover Hound to compare prices.

I like Amazon, but I absolutely hate their search system, and it's "fuzzy" results.

When I search for something I want exact results only. I can't tell you howany times I've almost bought the wrong thing because Amazon showed me similar items along with my search results.

Only once did it slip by me noticing on a very small ticket item, but I always feel I have to double, triple and quadruple check when I buy stuff on Amazon to make sure that I am actually buying the right thing, and I absolutely HATE that.
