Am looking at doing dual 4k monitors with my current card which is evga 970.

Card has
1 x Dual-link DVI-I
1 x Dual-link DVI-D
1 x DisplayPort 1.2

specs show as max resolutions
Analog: 2048 x 1536
Digital: 4096 x 2160
the monitors im look at have HDMI and DP only. My issue is I have have both PC and MAC and want 4k on both.

PC i would wire up as
1x DP @ 60hz
1x HDMI @ 60hz

The Mac is the issue
1x DP @ 60hz
1x HDMI @ 24hz

questions.
1) would the 970 be able to push 4k out the HDMI port?
2) how can i get both devices to run at 4k? From what i see, the DP is HDMI cables do not do 2k let alone 4 @ 60hz

DuaL 4k monitors will take a lot of GPU power to run games. You'd run at half the fps shown for 4k in EVGA GTX 970 SC ACX 4 GB Review
thanks! I typically run games on a single monitor - in window mode - and browsers on the second monitor. im thinking of upgrading to ASUS GeForce GTX 1070 which has dual HDMI and dual display ports thus making the monitor selection a non issue.

Thoughts?

Maybe a 1080 for 4K games. Not a 1070 though.

was looking @ some youtube video's and the 1080 @ 4k was 10-15 frames more than then 1070. The most intensive game i play ATM is WOW, which i run on a single monitor in window - full screen mode. I was thinking the 1070 should be able to handle this without issue.

Thoughts?

At 1080p Max setting in-game FPS meter reports between 55 to 100 FPS outside (have not gone into dungeons or raids yet). For 4K I would expect the 1070 to not keep up (I plan on going to 1440p at some point and the card should be adequate with most details turned up but not all.).

i have a 970 currently doing 2k without issues. was doing raids in the last x-pac was never dipped below 30fps. I can only hope the 1070 will do a bit better. You may have other issues going on or what you consider keeping up my differ than mine. mine.. goal is 60, happy with 30 under heavy load.

card arrives tomorrow, new monitors are in already. will update tomorrow.

Legion is a bit harder on the machine than WoD...

Totally agree however I'm getting 60 fps in dungeons, between 30 and 40 in city's, and 60 in open world. All settings set to max, on 4K @ 60hz. Considering my monitor maxes out @ 60... I'm good using my 970. Fully expecting more with the 1070 tomorrow
