Hello, I am posting hoping for some enlightment for a purchase decision...

Right now I am usinga 1080p 144hz benQ monitor, its fantastic for gaming but I also have a fully maxed out mac pro 5,1 tower that I use for music production. I REAAAAALLY want to get 4k going for that mac tower. And I would love to have 4k desktop resolution on my PC too, but I really don't want to give up the high refresh rate that I have with the PC gaming.

Like most people, once you get a taste of 100hz+ refresh rates its hard to go back. I don't even care about gaming in 4k much (would be nice to try but no big deal), but if I buy a 4k monitor I am basically capped at 60hz refresh rate no matter what resolution I am in.

Ideally, I would love a 4k monitor that can do 120hz at 1080p, and 60hz at 4k. It would serve both purposes as a gaming monitor and music production monitor. Any suggestions what I can do to get the best of both worlds ? its almost like I need two seperate monitors but I simply do not have room for two monitors here.

Its annoying having to wait for 120hz 4k monitors when I have no intention of doing anything at 120hz in 4k resolution.

Any advice/help/ideas appreciated.

I can't see any of your post history for some reason... all I can see is your post in this thread here...

The forum is limping along on temporary server hardware - I've noticed lots of stuff isn't working as it should of late besides email notifications and searches... Hopefully this will be fixed up soon.

Quite a few TVs will run 4K 60hz and 1080p at 120hz. This thread is just proof you didn't research.

I don't think he is looking for 120hz via frame interpolation.

I am most certainly not.

I have done some pretty good research in monitors but admittedly I haven't delved into the TV land very much. I'm checking out the SONY TV that is mentioned in this thread...

Edit: looks like its just frame interpolation... is their actually a TV that does TRUE 120hz refresh rates @ 1080p + 4k @ 60 hz ??? I'd love to see it...

Edit 2: seems like anyone that does has really bad input lag of 25ms+ , meh...
