Team 33 [H] DC T Shirts

As far as shirt color, if we had a dark color and light color version of the graphics, we should be able to do any shirt color. As long as it is the same order, i don't think that color should matter to these places - maybe I am wrong though.

As far as a pocket - design the front so the graphic fits on a pocket, then it would work on either.

They layouts and logos could work with any color, what would you suggest?

I'm open to criticism and suggestions, that's what this thread is for!

How a about a dark grey or charcoal? They are dark, but not black. Like musky said, we should be able to do a dark and a light colored shirt (most places will let you mix things up). Also, going with a "print on demand" company may useful for that. Choose 2 or three colors for shirts that the design would look good on.

Also -- second musky's comments on the text.

Anyone know of a font that looks like the actual HardOCP logo?

Kyle has told me that the [H] logo (owned by Kyle btw) is Arial Black font.

Personally, I thing that the "[H]" needs to go - it means nothing to the rest of the world. I'd rather see something like this for the breast pocket area:

Team [H]ard|OCP
Distributed Computing
Home of the [H]orde and the DC Commandos
dc.hardforum.com

I personally would ditch the Horde and Commandos line, as again they mean nothing to the outside world.

The [H] (logo) I think is indicative of both Hardforum and Hard|OCP, but it can be dropped. I feel like something like a Logo would be good to have instead of just blah text, as it draws the eye more (Read: I have no idea what I'm talking about, these are thoughts). but we do need a DC subforum address to put on there.

As per the color, anything would work, I think we could/should stay with red for the lettering/ logos.

Not even close...

[H]ard|OCP

[H]ard|Forum

Verdana looks closer, and may actually be what is used for the Hardforum logo (although the "a" is wrong.) It is still way off for HardOCP, though - that is almost a square font with rounded corners.

I'm just restating what I've been told is the font for the Trademarked [H] logo its self, not the text that follows.

Maybe for HardForum, and I'll also buy the [H] when it stands alone, but it is not the font for the HardOCP logo:

Again, I'm regurgitating what I've been told, I don't claim to know anything, quite the opposite actually :D

Quite frankly I thought it would be cool if we went with the wing ding's font on the back?

A nice tank top would be good. Maybe even some khaki shorts.(for work)

I think we were looking for some more designs to vote on.

Come on, I know y'all can get creative!

Yerp,

I have surgery tomorrow and will be laid up most of weekend recovering from initial pain. Come next Monday if we dont have any more traction Im going to gather what we have, throw it on some sites and post it up here to vote on. After a couple days for votes, I'll speak to a few places about what it will cost us.

Note that Im going to be throwing these on a regular T-Shirt, nothing cheapo but I dont want people paying $60 for a polo with an H on it.

As far as bannana hammocks go, we do have females on the team so that isnt gonna work :D

Are you saying they don't have boyfriends or husbands? .... so many ways to run with this... must control childishness... :D

Edit: I have a co-worker in another dept. that orders clothing from http://www.4imprint.com/tag/97/T-Shirts that have the company logos on them. I haven't ordered any yet and she is on vacation, but figured I would share. Bank employees get these, so I'm assuming they are decent quality. They also say that they can send free samples to see the quality before ordering.

m33pm33p, how did surgery go? Hopefully they didn't remove the part of the brain that had all of our t-shirt ideas... :D Just bumping it up from page 4.

Ive had a lot of stuff on my plate lately, sorry guys. We didnt have too many (if any) solid designs submitted and I was really too busy to try and get a decent one done myself. Ill try and see what I can do here in a couple weeks when things should be calmer.

Thanks for popping in m33pm33p. We don't want this one fading away. It is too awesome of an opportunity... LOL

I'm glad you checked in m33p, otherwise I might have had to come find you to see if you were okay!

I still wouldn't mind throwing in a few designs, just got a lot on my plate at the moment :) If no one's in a rush I can probably pitch in a few designs by next month :)

Yeah sorry, im a bit behind and backed up myself. I will fire up the ol photoshop sometime tomorrow night.

Bumping this thread since we are discussing t-shirts again. Too bad most of the image links are broken.

I have two tye-died FA[H] shirts from the Horde. Really quite simple... they only have three letters, FAH, with the "H" in brackets "[H]" making it very large on the front of the shirt.

NOTE: My browser at least loses the spacing I wanted on the shirt text, and it colors the URL. So take what you actually see with a grain of salt. The text blocks were supposed to be more or less centered, and the URL is supposed to be red like the rest of the text.

So, I'd say forget all of my project-specific stuff - that will just add cost and no one cares. I suggest black shirts, bright red font:

Front pocket:
Team [H]ard|OCP
Distributed Computing
www.hardfolding.com

=========== Or ===============

Team
[H]ard|OCP
Distributed Computing
www.hardfolding.com

Then the back would either be blank or would be:

[H]ard for [H]umanity
www.hardfolding.com

Someone would need to point hardfolding.com to the DC forum landing page or something - maybe we could get that done, since we obviously can't actually get a working web site going again.

Keep it simple - if we get bogged down with funky graphic, 50 different shirt styles, etc, then we never get anything done. This thread started in 2013 and I still don't have a shirt.

Pocatello, can you find out what [H]-related stuff we can and can't use for a DC team t-shirt?

waderunner, 33 is specific to Folding@home, and is not something we want to mention if this is to be project-agnostic.

It seems to me, and feel free to correct me, I'm definitely not privy to much of the information, but there seems to be an order that things must happen now.

1. Get permission from Kyle to form a committee in regards to creating a distributed computing group.
2. Elect members of that committee, voted on by forum members, created from volunteers that are either staff or staff-approved.
3. The committee decides on a logo, t-shirt design, or any other swag that would be DC related.
4. Again, approval from Kyle on the logo and items to be produced.
5. Committee decides on awareness/funding/distribution/awards, etc.

This is a VERY rough draft of the process, of course, but I repeat committee and Kyle because it seems that the flaw in the last thread was that there were so many ideas, no way to collect them, and no way to ultimately decide the fate of the thread. There are just too many voices to get a solid agreement across the board. In my opinion, nothing goes forward without approval for a committee and an election.

Thoughts?

Sounds good. Need tank top options!

For the purposes of this thread, we just need Kyle's input on how we can use the H logo. I would be shocked if this "committee" ever happens, so if we are going to wait on that, we may as well just let this thread hibernate another 3 years.

Listen guys and gals,

I understand that there are years of disappointment and negativity in these threads. That many have been let down by ideas that never took shape. But please, if it's not constructive criticism, please keep it to yourselves. Negativity for the sake of negativity is depressing and not a constructive way to use these forums. Negativity for the sake of eliciting another negative response is called trolling. Please, don't bring that here. This has been such a positive experience for me over the years. I've learned a lot in these forums, and the general feeling I get here is that there are a lot of people trying to make a difference in the world in their own way. I myself use this as a form of charity, because I'm paranoid about the corruption of many of the charitable organizations that exist today. It is my way of contributing and sincerely trying to find a cure, while at the same time building a sense of a team and a common goal. Let's focus on those common goals, that spirit that brought us here in the first place, and leave whatever past negative experiences in the past. This idea about team building, logos, and t-shirts keeps coming up because it's a good idea. We just need a way to make it materialize.

We can.

If you are referencing my last post, it was not negativity for the sake of negativity. I was simply pointing out that there is only one thing we need to make this happen and that this proposed committee is not needed to get a t-shirt made.

I'll stay out of it, though.
