If the "likes" versus the "dislikes" on this video are any indication, people don't seem to be too thrilled about YouTube's Heroes initiative. I guess the big problem here is that people think there will be an army of incentivized volunteers running around mass flagging everything in order to earn "points".

All we need is the rabid fans of a few popular YouTubers deciding things because fan(atic)s are the best judge of what should be tolerated.

I don't see the issue, if YouTube want todo crowdsourcing to enforce their EULA/TOS then its up to them. Individual YouTube communities can't violate the EULA/TOS anyway so this imo has minimal impact on them other then those channels that violates the EULA/TOS and slip through the cracks.

However these communities should still be allowed to police their own domains within the YouTube agreements limits, but I hope that the "Tools" available for these heroes would still be available to channel owners and moderators. If they aren't and that they would be only available to these Heroes then its seriously messed up.

The problem is, a handful of top level executives at a few mega-corporations can use Blockleiter systems like this to directly impact what billions of people can and can't see, and create a false sense of herd mentality.

People may think, "ah, look, this is what the majority think", except that's not the case at all when only a politically correct Google approved viewpoint is allowed to exist in online mindspace.

Sure, you may say, "well, its a private company, they can do what they want", and while that is true, the problem is what are the alternatives? Say I'm Immortan Joe, and run a private water distribution company, and obviously I'm not the ONLY one with water, but I do have a lions share so almost no matter what I do people are going to flock to me for the water, not because of my policies. So it isn't really plausible that any random schmo can become my competitor, because very few would have the capital to invest in a Youtube competitor, and even if they did, Google would just end up buying them out or impacting the market in a way to drown out competition (like altering search results, so that a Youtube competitor is on page 22 of a google search and of course won't come on any Android devices preinstalled, etc).

Is this the reason why all of these videos are suddenly getting restricted ratings? Too many cunts that think they're a hero. Hey, I think I just figured out social media...

I don't understand. How much does it pay? How is the medical? The video doesn't talk about any of the most important parts of the job.

Heroes don't need money or doctors. All of that isn't important. Keeping Youtube clean and streamlined to increase ad revenue is what is important.

Flagged the video for promoting bullying. Hopefully this is the first step for me becoming a Youtube Hero™, I can't wait!

Oh, good. The Ministry of Truth is now here to make sure everyone keeps the narrative. It's not like the system will be abused to kick off competitors our people these heroes don't like, no siree.

Google has obviously never seen Megamind.

So I can go flag every video using the N word and be a level 9000 Hero within a few hours? Awesome!

The whole concept of mass flagging videos shows you have not watched them. Fuck that SJW bullshit. It will just empower them and the hasbara/psy ops crowd to further bury stuff that doesn't fit the media narrative, e.g. if you don't say bad things about Trump or fail to support mass immigration.
If you have never tried, go on youtube domains for native countries in other languages. It's as if SJWs don't exist there.

Except
#1) YouTubes EULA/TOS is incredibly vague to begin with. It hadn't been a problem because of the minimal enforcement.
#2) they don't call out EULA/TOS violations. They specifically call out "negative content". WTF is that. That's a free fucking hand.

Mass flagging was so abused it became against their TOS. Now after careful curation YouTube will grant that power to some select few. Who will abuse it for the right reasons.

Paid political campaigners and advocates are all basement dwellers in a sense.

In a sense but not really. I know it's nice and comforting to imagine everyone you disagree with as the nastiest thing there is but in reality things are not like that. Governments and special interest groups are employing huge numbers of people who shit on news articles and forums for a living. It's a legitimate business these days and it's gotten to the point I no longer read news articles about politics.

But that's implying basement dwellers are the nastiest thing there is, which isn't the case.
