Small Expandable 10gbe Switch + Large Expandable 1gbps Switch?

I am about to add 3 new servers into an existing network, which is currently all on 1gbps ethernet. All of the new servers are SSD-based and to me it makes sense to go with 10gbps coming out of the servers into a switch, and then 1gbps out to the workstations.

The new server location is about 200 feet from the existing networking equipment/old server location, so using Cat 6A/Cat 7 copper would be REALLY nice/economical.

Where I am hitting a jam is any 48 port gigabit + 4 10gbps switch is $$$.

I am trying to find a small 10gbps copper switch, say an 8 port, that is expandable, and compatible with a 48 port 1gbps switch. Does such a thing exist?

ubiquiti edgeswitch 16XG and an edgeswitch [lite] 48 port....

prebuilt 200ft single mode LC->LC... might even be cheaper than running cat6a.... cat7 isn't a real standard
 
That is a great suggestion - I ended up ordering premade 100M fiber cables....I would say the cost with the transceivers is probably comparable or cheaper given that I would have had to buy a 1000ft box of 6A.

I also ordered the ubiquiti switches, hopefully they work out.
 
Benefit of fibre is latency- much lower than copper

Don't forget the power consumption. Waaaaaay lower on fiber then copper. Causing the switch to run cooler (less noise from the fans) and the airco to be happier...

People installing 10GBps over copper in a server context need their head checked.

My racks are almost all 1/10GbE fiber.
