MSI GTX1080 Seahawk and DisplayPort cable issue?

I finally got my office set back up along with my desktop...and my 1080 I bought nearly two months ago.

Anyways, I'm having problems with DisplayPort Cables not working with the card and my LG 95UM monitor. I have no display what so ever...monitor goes blank and then shuts off. I previously had a displayport cable to a mini-display port cable hooked to the monitor to my 295x2 and had no issues. I dug up the DisplayPort cable from my collection of wires..so I have no idea if its the cable or what.

I'm currently using HDMI with the monitor...works fine outside of the 50hz refresh rate on it. I'll order a DisplayPort 1.2 cable from amazon to see if that takes care of the issue, but was just curious if anyone else had an issue.

Supposedly all Display Port cables are not made the same.
Similar to the HDMI cable debacle if you remember / are aware of that back when. A majority of them actually aren't certified.

If you go to the Display Port site they have a list of cables, the manufacturer and part numbers that are certified.

This has fixed some problems for some of the people. Essentially it boils down to not enough bandwidth, signal loss / interference, etc.

I have a weird issue with my monitor. Some times the image will double over off center slightly. I believe it's a driver problem as it's improved with subsequent updates. That being said the issue was on the desktop that I don't use as much anymore.

Could be an issue with the card or a port on the card. Try some compressed air up all four ends.

The new cable fixed the issue...I heard about the problems with DisplayPort, didn't know it was an issue with HDMI...then again outside of HDTV's I never really used it with video cards, just Xboxes and cable boxes.

Yeah, it was a similar problem where 480p was just fine, 720p was mostly alright, and most cables didn't work right for 1080p. As you push up the resolution and particularly the refresh rate with these new monitors it uses drastically more bandwidth. Right now, this 165hz display for instance is utilizing 2.75* the amount of the same display at 60hz at the same resolution.

Glad to hear that it's fixed. Do keep an eye on it. Sometimes things creep back.
