What a shocker, Apple's stock has fallen after yesterday's iPhone 7 event. This should come as no surprise, it's not like the company launched a revolutionary product yesterday. On the other hand, the $160 AirPods will be a money maker. Not because they are extremely expensive, but because of the sheer amount of replacements the company will sell when people lose one of them. ;)

Apple stock was down about 2.84% at market close on Thursday, the day after the company revealed its new iPhone models. Apple shares closed at $105.52 as compared to $108.36 at close on Wednesday. At one point during the day, the stock dropped to $105.41. Apple stock is down about 15% from its 52-week high at $123.82.

i think those airpods will sell really well just because of the apple name. Co worker wants them because he thinks they are going to be the greatest headphones ever because apple is making them. I'm sure other ppl will think this way.

Usual for Apple launches. They sell after the announcement, then buy after the launch. That's been the way it's been for several cycles.

The haters don't even know how to type these things into Google, but don't worry this is the year that Apple fails ;)

For anyone who missed it, Nintendo's stock spiked over 25% when they showed up at the Apple Event.

I think Apple has enough cash that they could close all their stores and the web store, shut down the warehouses and halt all shipments and they'd still keep operating for years.

Apparently Super Flappy Bros is what people want.

The Smartphone growth era is winding down. Most folks that want one, have one. Apple will sell millions of the things, but probably at a slower pace then the past. So the stock traders will say near zero growth = less valuable stock. The company will do fine, the stock price will probably go nearly sideways until Apple can create the next great thing.

I love how you click on Tech specs, and they still don't list the amount of RAM on the damn thing! :D

Oh tech specs! You mean like how magical it is, what colors it comes in, how many accessories I can buy for it and how well in integrates with an Apple watch? :D

I just love how the lack of a freak'n standard 3.5mm audio port is being touted as "courageous". Bwaahhaahahahaha!

Seriously though, bring back the audio port, fatten it up by a couple of millimeters to actually provide enough room for an internal battery that lasts more than a day and add a micro SD slot and I might even be tempted!

Didn't you know? Less is more! I dislike the fact they got rid of the physical home button too. Guess I'll be skipping iPhone 7 and hope the 8 is worth buying. I'm kinda stuck with Apple since all my family and gf use iPhones, especially FaceTime.

*looks at Samsung and LG phones from past two years* Yeah, no. Apple has head firmly planted in ass.

No it looks like an iphone 6s and the one before the iphone 6.
How the hell can a company rehash the same design twice?

Sounds like they are taking a page from Intel.

That was quite underwhelming. The camera upgrade is probably nice. Slightly faster processor, bit better battery life, no headphone jack.
I read that Apple is not going to announce numbers the first few weeks of shipping like they have done for years. I think they are expecting poorer sales than normal...
I was also a bit surprised Apple included the lighting to 3.5 headphone jack as standard. I think they were expecting some pissed off people so decided to throw this in to appease them.
The other problem - smartphones are just boring nowadays. Faster processor. More ram. Maybe a better display. Rinse and repeat.
Off topic...Anyone else surprised they didn't announce a new Macbook Pro? The current version is like 4 years old now. Still selling for the same top dollar price. I know most on here don't care about Macs, but I have to work on one for work. I would like to get an upgrade someday.

They are probably waiting for Kaby Lake to pair it up with Mobile Pascal, if there is any sanity left in that company.

They won't use Pascal, they're sticking with AMD because they likely get super low prices for the gpu which helps their margins. Nvidia loves margins as much as Apple so neither company would really compromise. Get a razer blade if you want something similar to MBP but with better hardware and toss hackintosh on it if you must.

Yeah I know it is a stretch, but with Apple neglecting Macbook community for so long it would be very helpful for them to go bleeding edge and maximum battery life this round. If not, Samsung will happily fill the gap.

You can use Google Duo on Android and video-conference with Apple users...

They always do alternating for each generation, most likely pascal for this round.

I hope so, because Pascal is light years ahead of whatever AMD has right now in terms of performance/watt. Especially w.r.t mobile.

I wish hackintosh worked better. I've had it set up before several times. It will work for a while, but eventually stuff starts failing on me. I gave up. Once, I had a killer multi-core system that blew away anything that Apple sold. It was fast and a lot cheaper. Maybe others have better luck than me...

Meh, I still think they should have the "courage" to put two lightning connectors on the phone if they were going to remove the 3.5mm. Though that would have been a pain in the ass to design internal traces around that board if they were on opposite sides.

Wall street underestimates a typical Apple loyalist's willingness to buy an upgrade they don't need.

They never like anything Apple does. They'll panic sell if they make $45 billion in a quarter because it wasn't $45.1 billion and was only a 30% increase from the previous year instead of a 30.674% increase like they were hoping, so they go buy Tesla instead because they might sell a few cars sometime in the future.

Wait until people find out they removed the SD Card slot as well.
Joke would be funnier if apple had EVER used a sdcard slot... Android users are dealing with a sd card removal on many devices samsung gave some bs reason as the onboard emmc was not compatible with it but Android is very much linux based so it can have separate memory spaces and they could have made it work....

The only time in history, to my knowledge, that Apple stock didn't sink a bit after an event was the initial iPad. Then again they skyrocket shortly after.

So I guess it's slightly different, wallstreet loves these releases.

Also if the ear buds fit my ears well, because standard buds do not, I'll get a set.

No it's down because they said they would no longer provide sales data after the first weekend. Had nothing to do with the event.

You guys really fuck up the news sometimes, especially stories about the market.

Who the fuck wants to tote around a god damned headphone adapter?

Innovation at Apple halted after Jobs died.

Why are we talking about this?

I remember the reasoning was connecting a SD card would cripple the UFS 2.0 speeds.

Well you're wrong too.

yeah but that was 1 design they could have fixed they even ended up fixing it with the gs7 and gn7

I've been following AAPL stock for a while now and they typically hover around the 115 mark so this isn't anything new.

i havent been able to use wired ear buds for longer than the iphone has existed. i gave up around 2004 because the cords were never long enough to reach from my ears to my device in my pocket. ive been using bluetooth for over a decade for phone connectivity. this missing audio jack doesn't bother me at all. my vehicle doesn't have an auxillary jack. but if my next vehicle does, hopefully they offer an adapter that i can keep in my vehicle.

Well, it doesn't surprise me really. People are still stupid enough to buy it.

That being said, Older Windows laptops, up to about 6 years old are still plenty fast for most people. Second gen i5/i7 laptop stuff is just fine for anybody doing anything but high end gaming on a laptop. And even then, if you have one that has an MXM 3.0b video card slot, you can upgrade to a pretty sweet laptop video card.

I have an old Dell Precision M4600. Once the FirePro 5100m (same as a Readeon 8870m - Slot is only MXM 3.0a, so it can't take the nicer video cards) arrives, it will have all the fastest available hardware that will work with it. Only thing it will lack is a second SSD, which I plan to add at some point IF I need it.

They don't typically announce desktop or laptop upgrades until after the iPhone event each year so, one might expect to hear something between now and late November with respect to that side of their hardware division.
