WoW; 6h expansion Legion

Legion has fully brought me back into WoW, not sure how long it will last though. Have all three sets of artifact weapons on my main paladin (lvl 106) and am working on all the enchanting quests I can find so far. Got another paladin his first artifact weapon and did the same for my DH. Still need to get my shaman to 100 (he's 87) and run my monk through his artifact quest.

Performance wise its a mixed bag. I'm running a gtx 1080 @ 1080p (picking monitors right now) and my fps is all over the place. Dunno if its the drivers or what, but WoW is the only game I'm having this issue with. Everything else I can run super sampled up to 1440p on ultra settings (where it will let me) and get great performance. Saw a few threads about it at the WoW forums already. Guess I just have to wait and see what the next drivers bring.

You can never get a constant 60+ FPS in WoW. Even on the most ultimate gaming rig.

No issues on the machine in my sig. I'm playing at "medium" and get 60-250fps (indoors) at 1440p.

What are the DPS queue like?

I really, really need to stop reading this thread. haha

So I had good PuG group for Dark Thicket, switch my rogue to outlaw more dps, ran all bosses in no time at all. My reward: nothing, nada. I got the quest reward for killing the Shade from Tyrande, that was it! I haven't run an instance in a few years, and this just pissed me off. Actually I had a laugh later. But man, to do that run and watch everyone get something but nothing for me??? I guess it happens to some.

Keep an eye on your loot setup, make sure it matches your spec. It's pretty common to just get Gold these days from bosses, but the occasional blue can still upgrade to epic if you are lucky. It's actually kinda refreshing that loot doesn't just rain from the skies. You actually need to work for it. Also, as a rogue.. keep up with those interrupts. It makes a difference now!

Mine have varied, first one I did was within minutes. I need to go into one for a profession quest. Gave up after 30 minutes. I've been waiting for about 50 minutes today with it saying the average is 12. I don't mind dungeon quest but do not like my professions held back because it is taking so long for a group.

Still one of the best expansions in a long time, so far anyways.

Hrm. Garrisons still an active thing now too? I only ask because any time I resub, I always restart a character. Its hard for me to start where I left off for some reason. I really don't have to have to redo all those garrison missions and unlock the followers again.

Still on the fence for this expansion. This is the longest I have gone without playing since I started a long time ago. It looks decent, especially compared to WoD but I may wait until it gets cheaper.

Do you fall into the cycle of resubbing then hating yourself for doing it ? Last time I resubbed I literally played for 45 minutes before regretting it. Didn't even log in again >_>

Played waaaaay too long over the three day weekend. Storylines are awesome, and I'm enjoying the quests. They have really outdone themselves in the complexity of the scenery and models. Other games might have higher res textures, but the terrain complexity is a different story.
The new android based companion app is pretty handy too. You can do your guild hall missions on it, and when you login, your rewards are in the mail.

Just installed the app. Very nice. I had a laptop setup to check in on the class hall stuff while I'm at work. The app is a lot better for that.
Haven't had time to check but it would be nice if you can use it while you are playing one character to check on another.

How many people here trying out the new Demon Hunter class ? I always play Tanks, my main is a Paladin Tank, and my secondary character is a DK Tank.

So I rolled DH Vengeance last Tuesday. And at first it felt totally alien and uncomfortable to me, but after Level 102, it clicked, and I really like it. The self healing is crazy good. And the wings on the DH class, that allow you to glide off bridges and big rocks is silly fun :)

But not sure how good a Demon Hunter Tank will be come Level 110, and doing normal Raids or Mythic dungeon runs ? Should I go back to my Prot Paladin, which has been my main forever. I have my Paladin Tank at Level 101 currently, but pretty much stopped playing him, while I level up my Demon Hunter, currently at 104. The Paladin is still fun, and has a solid safe rotation I feel very comfortable with in 5man Legion dungeons. Whereas the Demon Hunter in 5man's I am still getting used too, and is a bit less comfortable to me right now.

Or I could do something completely different, use my one free " 100 boost" option, and create a Warrior Tank, 'Boost' him to 100, and level him up in legion. I have never once played a Warrior class before all these years.

But then again, I have only so much time to play WoW, with my busy career, and young kids, etc...can only really handle 1 main character, and maybe dabble into a secondary character a little.

I'm playing a DH but as havoc, I havent tanked since about March 2007. I say give the DH a shot, I'm sure you didnt get fully comfortable with your paladin or DK in a handfull of levels.

so i got a new guest ID in my collectors edition.. anyone want it?

Not sure why I am so indecisive on which Tank to concentrate on in Legion ? Just really torn. I currently have 3 Tanks.

- Paladin Tank = Level 101, always been my main, but he's getting the same old same old it seems, but still solid and good. And I am most comfortable with the Pally, his rotation is rock solid, and he's tough.
- Death Knight Tank = Level 100, been my secondary guy for years, but I'm totally bored with him.
- Demon Hunter Tank = Level 104, like the fresh new play style for a Tank, but leather wearer is a turn off, and not sure how great a DH Tank will be in Normal Raids + Mythic Dungeons ?

I only have time to play 1 character really well and work on gearing them, and maybe a little time to put into a second character, and that's it. I was toying around with the idea of creating my first Warrior, use the "100 Boost" option on him, and start playing and Tanking him in Legion, and get used to War tanking from 100 - 110.

If I can only play two characters, which two would sue choose for me, based on the above comments ?

I'm maining a priest this time around. As a healer, the tanks I really like seeing are warriors and druids, they make me think 'this will be an easy run' and rarely disappoint. DKs and DHs are both about average, both of those can swing widely depending on player skill and cooldown use. Monks and pallies havent seemed as impressive. I think you would be fine with a DH, since they are fun as hell just to play with the double jump/fly thing, and this expansion is based around a DH storyline.

If you have a boost to use and like tanking, make either a bear or a warrior. Druids make great alts since they are easy to use for everything you could possibly want to do, are really convenient to play with travel modes and speed, and have easy rotations for each spec. But if you just want to tank and don't care about the rest, I would go warrior.

45 minutes, and then you get in and get to the first boss and the server crashes, and then you re-queue and it pops after 30 and someone declines, and then it pops again 15 minutes later and you get in and the tank leaves after the first boss and you wait another 15 minutes, and then after two hours you've completed a thirty minute dungeon.

So same as always. :)

Since Blizz went on the "Bring the player, not the class" kick, I think you should play what you enjoy. Remember, everything is tuned to max level, and until then, your character may not feel "right". I know my rogue felt a little off in the rotations, and procs until I hit 110, and then got into a smooth combat flow.

You're a lock then a rogue, a mage then a priest, you're melee then ranged, use mana then rage...

My memories of the early wow days are some of the best I have, back when wow was like a community with its own culture

Figured that was the case. Why I always roll a tank.

With that said, I started off on my 100 Guardian Druid. Doing OK I guess. Made it to 104 and tried DPS. I won't be able to adjust from a 10 second queue to a 45m queue. So I started on my 73 Prot Warrior. Going to make him my go to guy since I can tank far better on a warrior.

Doing OK so far. Not sure how long I'll last though. Hit 110 and do some LFR's. Get bored and quit like I usually do I guess.

I haven't seen a server crash yet. I played nearly 20 hours over the three day weekend and didn't hit a single glitch.

Tanks and healers, you guys are awesome. I did one dungeon back when the death knights first came out, and while I didn't screw up I hated it. I can't stand playing melee in this game. Being that close in and sometimes in the mob and all the effects going off, just way too busy for my eyeballs. I am tempted to try it again because 2 hour wait for a dungeons is annoying.

using raidfinder as DPS is torture. I mained enhancement shaman and i had to play healer 99% of the time, thank god they added the loot options

although resto shaman is really easy to play, and it's kind of fun, especially when your healing rain animation is frogs

The main problem with legion is my total indecision on what class to play.
All looks good and fun to play. Played a warlock last expansion, got 13/13 M HFC, now I'm really on the fence. Rogue Outlaw or BM Gnome Hunter? Decisions, decision.

I still have my character boost too. I may use it on a 'lock. But the DPS queues juts kills it for me. All these years of instant queues, I wouldn't survive a 1h+ wait time.

Just certain servers I think. I am on Stormrage and it's crashed at least three times during peak hours. It often does a rollback, too, so you lose a bit of progress and you're hit with a 2000 person login queue when it becomes available again.

I try not to get too upset about it but the timing of the one yesterday making me redo the 45 minute dungeon queue was lame. You'd think it would keep your spot in the dungeon or at least put you at the front of the queue.

It hasn't been perfect, I'm on Wyrmrest (a high pop server) and it has booted everyone a few times. It's back up quickly though. I've also got stuck in the login servers - not a queue, just no response - as recently as last night. Not too bad though and damn smooth for a WoW expansion launch.

Been playing on hyjal which is a med pop server and haven't had a single server boot/crash

First 6 or 7 days I had little issue. Occasional server lag but it only lasted minutes and cleared up. Was never dropped. Past few days in dungeons and zones has been horrible. Latency has been yellow several hundred, usually green and under 100. Trying to play with a two or three second delay is not fun. I get to Dalaran or the class halls and everything is fine.

Came across some videos today. Leather and Alchemy. Assume there is a way for other profs as well. Making nice gold off of Obliterum. I made about 30,000 gold in under two hours investing about 4000k for seeds for alchemy. Basically you make a bunch of an item from your prof, obliterate them at the forge and get enough dust to make Obliterum. Kinda boring but good way to make quick gold. If your like me and don't play the AH this is a nice method. Probably won't last as prices change.
