That Romanian hacker guy that hacked celebrities, former presidents and dislosed Hillary Clinton's private email server was sentenced to 52 months in prison today for unauthorized access to a protected computer and aggravated identity theft.

According to admissions made in connection with his plea agreement, from at least October 2012 to January 2014, Lazar intentionally gained unauthorized access to personal email and social media accounts belonging to approximately 100 Americans, and he did so to unlawfully obtain his victims’ personal information and email correspondence. Lazar’s victims included an immediate family member of two former U.S. presidents, a former member of the U.S. Cabinet, a former member of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff and a former presidential advisor, he admitted. In many instances, Lazar publically released his victims’ private email correspondence, medical and financial information and personal photographs, according to the statement of facts filed with his plea agreement.

Of which he'll serve half, with time already served taken off, so about two years. How much money did he make?

This guy has no respect. They should send him for a short stay in gitmo.

"dislosed Hillary Clinton's private email server"

How much you want to bet he never makes it out of prison alive, especially if Trump wins.

So did the DOJ just confirm that Hillary's email server was hacked? Until now, they were saying it could have been but there was no evidence that it was. The news release does mention 'former US cabinet member' as one of the victims.

I'm glad they actually were able to go after him. We need more hackers to pay the consequences for their actions.

That being said, his 4+ year sentence highlights the absurdity of the fact that Stanford rapist Brock Turner is already free... Turner should have received a 20 year sentence. This guy, maybe one or two?

Wasn't that long ago that a swimmer from Stanford got 6 months for rape. Priorities be all kinds of fucked up in this world.

She shouldn't even have security clearance, let alone be walking around and running for President.

The same people who don't care about putting a criminal in office as long as it is their criminal all of a sudden really seem to care about the sanctity of private email servers. Maybe that sense of importance will eventually find its way to top secret email servers being compromised.

Meanwhile the NSA employees are free to hack the world. Fuck you, US.
