Elite: Dangerous

Been playing this pretty hard the last couple nights, started working on trade routes with my lowly sidewinder, after an hour, had a cobra mk 3, 40T cargo space, upgraded weps, power supplies, etc.

If anyone is ever looking for me in game, its under jaredsan, Im somewhere around Ch'i lin and fly around to Karid here and there, where my trade route is.

When you get sick of bubble grinding come join me out in the black.

:D

happily

I am still in a stage of learning the game properly.

I just came from a dry cargo run, crop machines to Bessel Gateway in ORANG, someone tried to interdict me while in supercruise, was very lucky I could follow the escape vector out, and even though I am in a cobra with upgraded weapons and hull, I knew if someone could afford an interdict device, they would most likely be in a much more upgraded ship, and I wasn't really in the mood to lose 100K worth of crop machines. Still happy I wasn't on the reverse and running slaves instead which would have been my current 650K on-hand. So not a trip I plan on taking fully loaded, alone.

I tried the whole trading thing, but I sucked at it. Just said fuck it, got my Gamma Freegle and went out exploring. Took that thing as far out as the Pelican Nebula and then upgraded to an ASP and never looked back. Love finding Stellar Forge extremes like huge landable planets and crazy systems.

Awesome

I haven't done horizons yet, but i will later, after I get a full handle on this part.

This for certain. I'm out in the Eagle Nebula now checking things out and hoping to find a semi accurate view of the "Pillars of Creation" that I've seen in the NASA composite images. Love the exploration aspect of E: D, and hope to get my Elite ranking in Exploration upon my return from here.

I did my first run out in the black in a Cobra, eventually bought me a DBX for my second and third adventures, then finally broke down and picked me up an ASP Explorer. Absolutely the best ship in the game to get out and discover with!

EDIT: FrEaKy - sent you a friend request in Elite...

Loved the game until I got an Anaconda and about 11 other ships all decked out, then everything just suddenly turned boring. Combat, trading, exploring, didn't matter, it all felt recycled by that point. I started saving for Horizons thinking that might help revive my interest, but the world still feels empty to me.

Honestly haven't played much since Horizons was released, but hopefully when the game actually has people in it you can walk around and interact either, it will regain its appeal for me. I'll have to relearn about everything by then I'm sure, but whatever. With 360+ million in the bank, you'd think you had a lot, but outfit one ship the size of the Anaconda and you're broke. The grind just kills the game over time.

I blew an hour w/ the keyboard & another hour trying a joystick & game pad & gave up.

I bought the $40 Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Flight Stick & did some tutorials.

I did target practice, launching, dock & travel in a few more hours (paused a lot to watch 'tube tutorials).

HOTAS makes it MUCH easier, but OMG - millions of menus, different dashboards left right center& it is almost overwhelming!

I almost liked the 'tube vids more than flying around... this guy was my favorite so far:

Tutorials - Elite: Dangerous - YouTube &

just got my fed drop ship. a bit different than my maxed out Cobra. for what i do, i think i will get into a vulture until i can buy a python. thoughts?

I wish I could just use my G27 wheel & pedals...

You can use the G27 pedals and just unplug the wheel. Very cool for throttle up/down etc.

A Vulture with dual gimballed pulse lasers is incredible. If you want a build I can point you to one that will deck it out.

i always find it funny in elite dangerous when people say "massive" and yet doesn't even remotely compare to what we consider "massive" in Eve. maybe one day elite dangerous will get to that point though.

I find it funny when people start comparing Eve to Elite...

pulse verse beam? would have thought beam would be king in the class C section.

HELP! I have 7 hours to complete this mission called HUSH HUSH.
I flew to 2 systems to gather secret info & deliver to a 3rd system / station.
However, this station (Ackermans Market) does NOT have a bulletin board.

How I get paid for this mission?

Oh, I did... I saved my game, exited to Windows - searched google & youtube.
All the vids show the typical menu I've seen everywhere else w/ a bulletin board.
I even used a 2016 filter on youtube assuming it was a version revamp.

I flew to another system, docked, read those BB's & returned to Eravate / Ackermans Market.
It still has the same short menu...

Because these are "secret docs" I am wondering if I need to join one of the political parties?

did you try the contacts menu?

Yes, the Contacts on the main screenshot above + the left side panel & every other item on every menu screen I found - except GALACTIC POWERS.

I never noticed the GALACTIC POWERS button at the lower left of this screenie: HUD/Left

That is why I'm wondering if I need to join the Federation & maybe the AI will ask me for the docs.

Do you guys have that button? Have you picked a side in the game yet?

I bought the Warthog and it took me a good 2 weeks to iron what I wanted bound to what. I found a .pdf online that showed the layout and allowed me to type what I had assigned to each button. Very useful when you're coming back after a break.

as a new player can you buy horizons without having to buy elite dangerous? steam says ED is required to play horizons. But I've seen post where folks are saying you don't need ED to play horizons?

I think initially they made Horizons a product that included base game but it seems that is no longer the case.

Wow- did this game die?

I was just going to drive-by and say that they have officially made me want to play, as a Reaver...

Spiky Ships

Its gotten to the point you don't need to play private to make sure you can avoid PvP because humans players are scattered to the stars and if you want some "action" go to alliance space (hunt people who don't know any better).

Still my favorite and most played game ever! Two and a half years after purchase and Triple Elite! Mostly play in a private group (Hutton Truckers) and having a blast with all my ships.

I'm debating, and don't have too much more time left to do so. :D I barely have time as it is right now. I played the base game closer to release a bit, but found I didn't have much time. Now I'm thinking I'd like to pick it up again now that it has more going on with Horizons, the recent alien contact, etc. Then I have to weigh that against my trickle of game time. So tempting though at the current prices.

Just saw this game for 60% off Frontier's website. Roughly $24 for the deluxe edition, and I think $12 for the expansion and $12 for the base game. I figure I'd give this a shot- my friends with VR setups seem to be enjoying this title. I just wish the download speed for installing was a bit faster. :(

Steam or direct?
