Loving the support the devs are giving this so far.
That's why I'm still interested and haven't given up on the idea of buying this at some point.
Here's something else positive for this thread: The 15 most stunning photos people have taken in 'No Man's Sky'
lol @ photos
Like the game was meant to be photo-realistic.

So, before it was released, I was interested. Than I heard all the farce and lost interest. Now after watching it a bit, hearing my nephew praise it and a few other people, I guess I am finding myself getting to a point where.... while I wont pay FULL price, I might wait till its $40 or less.
There's a lot to be said about the stuff surrounding this game. And it's all fair too - the sheer hype, the missing features, the misleading advertising, small indie teams, bad PR management, and so on. There's the "don't pre-order" bit that gets trotted out every time something like this happens, but... I've got to say, things haven't gotten better yet. We're still in a world of shitty launches, crucial day one (or day zero even) patches, and poor PC support.RPS is one of my 3-4 go-to trustworthy PC gaming review sites...like you said they are usually fair and balanced...
"This likely reads as an overwhelmingly negative review, and it’s deserved – No Man’s Sky is massively flawed, and systematically poorly designed. But it’s also a massive playground of potential and opportunity, and its sheer ambition, for all its massive stumbles, is rewarded in play"
and a follow up article from them about the early gameplay trailers that turned out to be a massive bait-and-switch...why this doesn't get more press is beyond me...it's along the same lines as Watch Dogs or Colonial Marines in terms of showing footage that was never in the game
The Broken Promise Of No Man’s Sky And Why It Matters
What's so evil about a day 1 patch? You have to download the game anyway the first day. There's a lot to be said about the stuff surrounding this game. I didn't say it was evil, but there's the sense you always get an unfinished product. What's so evil about a day 1 patch? You have to download the game anyway the first day.

Also kinda crazy this game is only a 3gb download
Well, after todays latest patch, I have to click the shortcut 2-3 times to launch the game....
What the hell is going on here lol
no .kkrieger link? That's procedural generation for you. It's not pre-created; it's being created on the spot. Which is why the CPU is being hit so very hard by this game.
What you can do with just 64K of procedural generation (that's 64 kilobytes of code).
Thank You!! DualShock 4 Buttons instead of XB360 Controller prompts FTW. I really don't know why this wasn't an option from the start given Sony is a backer of the game.

Maybe that was the thinking but it was a mistake on their part. They already had the resources created for the PS4 version and other indie devs have put it in as an option (like Rebel Galaxy) who weren't even associated with Sony in any manner. It really should have been there IMHO.Because the DS4 isn't officially supported on the Windows Platform, maybe?

Nah, no tech support necessary, it would be just like the ones that can show the Dual Shock button layouts now, an option under controller that has a check box called "use dual shock 4 button graphics". They aren't going to support the controller in a hardware sense or even change any controller code, they are just going to display the graphics for the dual shock buttons instead of the XB360 buttons on screen if that option is enabled. It would have taken them maybe 5 minutes to add it. But it doesn't really matter anymore since the mod will do it for us.Yes, but then they have to provide technical support for a controller that's not officially supported and uses software not made by Sony to function.

I've only done one refund through Steam and it was probably the easiest one I'll ever do. All it took was experiencing the terrible console/controller controls in the menus for me to be done with the game. 8 mins total play time.player base is falling fast...no surprise...I think most people saw this coming...those huge Day 1 Steam player numbers were inflated because it was just released plus with Steam's new return policy people were going to return it...like I said then, wait a month and lets see those numbers...

Closer to $20 for me, but...same sentiment.
Apparently they're adding something major, but nothing has been mentioned in detail.
Anyone have any idea what they're adding to the game this week?
