no mans sky pcgamer review

I'm not sure what players expected for less than a million dollars.

For less than what I pay for dinner it provided more entertainment for a week.

Not great but not a waste either.

I think players expected more because of the trailer and the devs made some promises that they didn't fulfill.

I'd agree passing grade.

The problem with millenials today is they got a blue ribbon for even ninth place.

This game though not earth shattering is passable fun

I think these young kids were expecting to somehow get handjobs from the flora.

The dev cost is irrelevant when factoring in the hype, marketing, and cost to the consumer. They whored this game out like it was going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, marketed it with features that were totally unrealistic, and then had the audacity to slap a $60 price tag on it like a AAA title. I've said it before and I'll say it again, had Sony stayed out of it, the devs kept their mouths shut, and they sold it for $30 like most quality indie games, NMS would have been the darling of the gaming world. An unexpected gem from a no name developer that people loved and clamored for more. Instead, we got a one way ticket to on the hype train with a $60 price tag.

Sadly Spore was more memorable than this game. At least you could take responsibility for the abominations you made in Spore.

In NMS the abominations are not in your control, and sometimes even more abominable.

This game's fun is seriously short lived, it works for a game you play to just 'chill' but nothing more involved than that.

Nothing in this game even remotely suggests the developer sat down at any point and questioned whether the core game loop was fun or not...

Your dinner costs you $60 a meal? Do you ever get tired of truffles and caviar?

Costco does $7 I think for two 67oz Pregos along with a few $1 boxes of angel hair and some cheese, comes out to about $2 a meal per tupperware container. Just a pro-tip now that you've been fleeced of your hard earned cash.

Ok, sorry man. I guess i was grumpy when I posted that.

I've given the game some more play time and grown to dislike the graphics so much, I'm permanently shelving it.

The first time I landed in a space station and walked around....I actually felt a little sick. That awful looking black floor....

This is the first time I've played a game where the graphics physically make me sick.

I have more than a few friends who put 40 to 50 hrs into this already. I'd say they got their monies worth.

Yes, but it leaves you dissatisfied because you played 50 hours trying to reach something that isn't there. Once you max out your gear there's no agency

Hard to talk about a game like this right now before we get patches and more content.

After we get more content, and its still the same finishing, than yes, we can have that argument.

And no, I didn't purchase it, but will once meaningful content is released to make it a full experience.

The problem isn't content, it's the concept of the game . It very quickly becomes monotonous and you're pulled into a cycle of farming for upgrades and things like that. It's too much work for too little reward.

That's a passing grade :D

You are forgetting the modern gaming review scale:

Why isn't he calling it a brother site instead of a sister site? Sickening!

Xer can't help it. Such are the rotten fruits of the sexist, racist, xenophobic and mysoginistic Western so called culture.
I'm sure xer'll beg Gaia's forgiveness after xer realizes the grave error xer has made.

The fuck are you even talking about?

I have no fucking idea. I went to Jezebel.com to see what that site is even about and I still have no fucking idea.

Posting random inflammatory pictures just to go "HURRRR FEMINISTS" is really dumb.

Decent game but not for the price. Got it for $80(cad) and sold it yesterday for $50, game was worth $30 I played lol

Why do people keep saying we have to wait for patches/dlc? The game that was released sucks.....it should be judged on what was released, not what's supposedly coming, especially not after all the lies that have been told so far. The game is nothing like what was promised.

This game would really benefit with some type of multiplayer aspect and colonized systems....

Pre bought it close to the opening window. Wasn't excited or anything, was neutral and just wanted the extra ship you got for the pre buy.

Played 2 hours. Liked the first hour, realized by the 2nd hour I couldn't stand the game.

Submitted a refund request via Steam today and they approved it within 2 hours. Got my 60 bucks back via PayPal.

I don't hate the NMS Devs. I think they had a great idea that works out best for the gamer who's playing while sitting on a bean bag, with a controller (not a mouse and KB), and high on weed or enjoying an acid trip.

For the average adult gamer who's not under the influence, I think they missed the mark.

Don't give two shits what anyone says, this game is exactly what I thought it would be from 3 years ago. And I'm okay with that.

Go look at the other Hard No Man's Sky thread, look at the beginning of the thread. That was three years ago. What was said then by Sean Murray is exactly what we have now. An infinite sized universe to explore. The first and the only promise that matters here, has been kept.
Blame your selves for being over hyped for 3 years, which probably killed your own experience with such a simple game.

If you watch Angry Joe's review, you will realize what everyone is upset about and the feeling of being lied to. Sean Murray is a joke and so is Hello Games. The ultimate troll of the last 2 years.

It is long, but its all true:

So if he keeps one promise but lies about dozens of other things it's okay?

I was a pre-buy (just because I wanted the extra starter ship) and I dont even feel I was lied to; I just feel the game really sucks.

1. The graphics are to the point they make me physically ill in some situations. That first time I landed in a space station, and saw that hideous deep black floor, I felt like I was in a really bad version of 2001 and couldn't even look at the screen.
2. The graphics glitches dont help with this either. I'm playing on an Ultra high end system (see sig) and there are still off pauses and glitches that matter to me with respect to immersion (I'm an adult and dont play games to pretend Im not in real life anymore) but they just annoy frustrate me
3. There isn't much to do in the game.

I appreciate that STEAM accepted my honest request for a refund.

This video being used to explain anything, never gets old, especially when done well.
