I am able to max out GTA V with all effects to the max, including all of the Advanced Options (sans the downsampling/resolution scaling), and get 80fps+. I am able to max out Witcher 3 with HairWorks and get 80fps+. Overwatch stays at 144fps fully maxed out no matter what's going on in-game. It's perfect for 1440p.For single 1440p I'd do the same. At least you can play DOOM.

Happy sli loves fps gaming! If it wasn't for that I'd save tons with consoles and casual gaming.
Saying "if I can't have SLI I'm just going to console game" is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
It's like saying "If I can't have my ultra fragile Alfa Romeo, I'm just going to buy a Yugo", when there are perfectly reliable high performance vehicles out there.

So you'll go from 4k 60 fps Ultra (single Titan XP) to 900p 30 fps Low (consoles) if they take away the ability to SLI? That don't make much sense to me but different strokes for different fokes lol.

I want to add something to this SLI discussion.
Yes, SLI sucks when it doesn't work (which is too often), but IF you're going for mGPU then dual Titan X is the way to go. mGPU works best when you buy two of the best, primarily because you have no other options for that performance class.
An overclocked Pitan will match SLI 1070s and trail SLI 1080s, and that's when scaling works well. It's a no contest. SLI 1070/1080 has been obsoleted.
Obsolete is a bit harsh.
I'd say the usefulness of 1080 SLI has been surpassed by a Titan X in most applications, but it would still be useful, albeit frustrating.
Obsolete means that it is no longer of any practical use.
Absolutely I would go to consoles. Playing games and having fun is the main goal, the tech info behind it (frames, settings etc.) doesn't matter.
We make the tech info matter because we are enthusiasts. Removing SLI will lock users into price/performance tiers. SLI allowed users to reach higher levels at a lower costs of entry. Those doors will be shut.
$1K cards with 50% value losses within a year aren't for me.
Having the option to add or remove a card depending on where I am with my build is a huge plus.
That means I will need to have a back up card laying around unused when a upgrade cycle hits because I only game on a single card.
Now for the higher user, there a people in this thread with Titan X SLI. They feel that one isn't enough. At some point you will want more power, and then you will have to wait until Nvidia decides to release the next big thing, and we will pay anyhting for it because there's no other option to get more performance. Eliminating SLI would be right up there with Windows 10 shenanigans.

You didn't wind up liking the hybrid solution?
The option of buying two 1080s right now is of no practical use, you're much better of buying a Titan and an Accelero IV. I guess if you already have a 1080 you might want to get a second one down the line

Nice man Question though, what did you put heatsinks on on the right ? You slapped heatsinks on the inductors and capacitors of the VRM stage they probably didn't need it, but what's that on the right ? Post temperatures

You guys are all [H] as fuck.I put heat-sinks on all power phase FET's, power chokes and output capacitors. The only thing I couldn't get heat sink's on are the Phase driver IC's, they are too small. Basically, everything that was touch the stock thermal pads are cooled with these heat-sinks. On the far right are more output capacitors.
I prefer the simple air cooling of the Artic over the Hybrid. This system is going in my Airstream so it will see some vibration. Not overly confident in those inexpensive AIO coolers. When you have a $1900 CPU and two $1200 GPU's, $600 MB and $700 SSD, cheap water cooling is not a good mix.
As for the shunt mod, you paint all three R50 resistors with a thin layer of CoolLabritory Liquid Ultra. This lowers the resistance and lowers power target reading giving you more amperage headroom.
I'm not so sure. It can't have half vram this time, and the Titan X already uses a cut GPU.
Will they cut it down to 24 SMs and keep the 12GB or will they replace the Titan X with a full GP102 config and the current Titan X becomes the Ti, who knows?

You can still SLI cards using them if you have an E-ATX motherboard like Vega does and still have enough room for adequate airflow.Personally I have plenty of confidence in AIO solutions. I've never used the EVGA branded ones, but everyone in the industry use the same two suppliers so they should be of equal quality to the Corsair ones I've been using for 6 or 7 years thus far without an issue.
That cooler looks awfully large. Does it allow you to install the two cards in SLI properly?
Ahh, so all it does is make the card think that it is using less power than it actually is, so the 120% power limit doesn't kick in?

If anyone is interested, a user on Overclock.net installed the Kraken G10 with a Corsair H90 on his Pitan without issues. The OEM backplate just doesn't work with it. I haven't seen any official response, yet.

I think I'm going to go with a G10 and X41 based on this information, and upgrade my case to either a be quiet! Silent Base 800 or NZXT Phantom 530. My original Phantom doesn't have any good radiator mounting options.Cool! That's probably the minimum radiator size (140x140) you want to go with a Titan X P too if you are power limit unlocking and OCing. A 1080 gets up to about 55-60C with a 120x120 OC'd and power limit unlocked.
