Dude, you just need 2 1080Ti's....they should be out by the time the game is released officially. ;)
 
Game is Free to Play this weekend on Steam I think I might check it out.
Downside is download is 44 gigs.
 
It is a fun game to play with friends. So many lets try this....running, screaming and cursing, moments :)
We are playing pve with a small group. Sure pvp is fun but I don't think I would like it in this game.

I got it during the steam summer sale and was worth the cost. Almost 200 hours in it.

Yes playing with friends is the best. My friends are about to get back in to it after playing at launch. I still remember getting jumped by a Carno at night by a river when we first started, was trrrifying and amazing.

I found a great server today w/ no offline raiding & logs monitored by the admins.

I also joined a tribe w/ these guys on STEAM - CaotcAftermth & Fear6991
~ I'm AMA_King on STEAM & "Dude" on the ARK server

Server = UNOFFICIAL: RideTheArk TheCenter PvPvE (5x multipliers)
 
Have they improved performance?
I had horrible performance on 980Ti SLI at 4k. I could either tune down the details or quit the game. I chose the latter.
 
Yeah I tried SLi fixes, they don't fix anything.
I know it has issues, that's why I ask if they have fixed the problems :)

Are you still playing on this server? I saw a comment on Ark-servers.net saying that the mods have all but abandoned the server. Is that true, or just somebody whining?
 
Not really - I'm a sporadic player, but I dropped by last weekend & my tribe guys were not online, so I bailed...

If what you heard is true, that's sux - it was great thinking you would not get raided - or - if you raided others you'd get banned.

Tried it just now. I lasted about 10 minutes before chat started up and I realized that there were a bunch of 12 year olds on the server.
 
This game is getting killed on Steam reviews via their store page! A lot of folks seem to be unhappy over their releasing of DLC while the game is still listed as being "Early Access". Seems like a money grab to me...

Then there is this too which I came across. Apparently a player got ripped by a Dev on Discord.

I can understand the disappointment, they should finish the main game before working on DLC. It does looks like they put a lot of effort into the DLC. So I wouldn't consider it a money grab.
Doubt I'll buy, was getting bored with normal ARK. I'd like to play it, had fun with ARK and would love to get some dragons like that. If I didn't have a backlog and hadn't just jumped back into WoW I might have picked it up.
 
I see some people think the DLC should have been rolled into the base game as free content, which I think is ridiculous. The game is $18, how much content do you need before it justifies a 'complete' product?
Of course the DLC probably shouldn't exist in the first place -- they should have spent their time and resources finishing the base game (whatever that means).
 
I decided to stop playing Ark. Every time I play, 4 hours passes and I don't even realize it. Can't be doing that anymore, lol.
 
Just picked this up finally. Absolutely loving it. Made a tribe on a pve server with a few friends. Boy oh boy does it pay off to upgrade everything. From weapons, to your hatchets to whatever.

I'm level 40 and I still am having issues taming dinos.

Bola them, knock em out with the sling shot and then put appropriate food in there with some narco berries. Right?

For some reason it takes days and then it never goes through.

I want a raptor so bad!

Long as you have the right kibble it shouldn't take long. Under two hours for a 150 rex. Make narcotics and force use them to handle the torpor.

I knew I'm missing something here. I see from that site you use the cooking pot. Ha, I didn't make one of those yet. Didn't see any recipes to unlock so I figured whatever. Now I know. Thank you.

Wow this game can be frustrating. Lol Time spent taming, crafting, farming, and building dino homes, you'd think a nice quick adventure on your new raptor would be fun. But no, some sort of fish was stuck to my back, thought it was a glitch or something, five minutes later I die from this shit and I can't find my body or raptor. It's times like these that make me question if I want to keep playing this game.... And then I think of all the good times that I've had adventuring, finding good stuff and getting it all back home alive....

Wow. They killed ARK. The game is currently unplayable for me. I went from around 45fps and up to maybe 25 at the top end. I didn't change anything, but the new patch definitely did change something.
 
I'm surprised there isn't anyone posting about the TEK tier patch. Anyone playing this still?

Well I haven't heard anything about a new patch but I should have a new frame ready in about 20 minutes...

Besides the TEK Tier Sci Fi addons, the new beard/hair growth system is what I find most interesting. When you trim your hair, you can use it as an alternative to Pelt. Which is awesome!
 
The guys at work I was playing with moved on. I'll probably wait until full release and then just setup a personal server and bump all the settings so I don't have to grind again. Looks like a good update.
 
Looks good. I will keep an eye on it. I guess this is a paid expansion right? They put some work into it. Completely different looking. Hope it is optimized better than the original.

Edit: yup. $20. I would say worth a try if you are looking for something to do this weekend. I spent some time in the original. It was fun with friends.
