Pascal Titan-X Thread

So, a third more CUDA cores and 2 extra teraflops.

I was really, really expecting HBM2 memory on this....

Seems like this Titan variant came a little early.

And $1,200??

The Nvidia gouging is getting a bit out of control IMO.

I think this may be the quickest turn around new GPU re-sell ever. I'm sure some will upgrade their new 1080's for the new TItan.

Is anyone going to mention the elephant in the room? Uhm... The Titan X has been out for over a year...

Why? This card isn't going to get near that performance.

I'm not in a rush. I'd buy two Titans but SLI and Surround have been giving me fits with this new rig. It's really the only fault of an otherwise system that's been kick ass for three weeks at least.

No doubt. Honestly one 1080 is working very well, will probably sell one and keep one for the old rig and buy one Titan.

Did anyone see this coming? No leaks, rumors, or anything.

August 17th came up a couple of weeks ago. I really wasn't expecting at least until Q4 just because why? Other than they can sell it at this price because there's no competition.

It's a good strategy, like I mentioned before. If no one expects it, everyone who wanted the best GPU will get the GTX 1080, now they'll have to get the new Titan X.

I just got a 1080 not too long ago so it's funny that it's already getting knocked off its perch as the fastest video card. Then again the price of the Pascal Titan X makes me not feel bad at all.

I wouldn't be mad either. The Titan X costs twice as much as the 1080 and probably won't be more than 30% faster at most. Heck, they said "Up to 60% faster than the original Titan X" so it probably beats it by that margin in a very specific scenario.

Well, with a modified BIOS the previous Titan was quite a beast. It depends on how well this new one will overclock. I wonder how long it will take for aftermarket coolers to hit.

That falls in line with the other Titans in comparison to their X80 counterparts. It's better for most people to wait for the 1080Ti. I'm probably going to stick with my 1080 until Volta or until it's time to start a new build altogether.

What name do you think will catch on. Titan-PX? Titan-XP?

Read elsewhere this isn't a fully enabled chip, so leaves room for another Black down the road, at least potentially. Honestly not sure how the math works to determine that though.

But putting my serious face on: I'm surprised to see such small memory stats. 'only' GDDR5X, and 'Only' 12GB... I'm also wondering what clockspeeds will be like. If this thing doesen't clock like the 1080, It may not be as monumental of a leap as people are thinking...

Either way, we are looking at a new king.

I don't think anything in the gaming realm will approach more than 12GB of VRAM use anytime soon. Do some certain professional applications require more?

I'm pretty sure 12GB is a decent amount of VRAM that modern 4K gaming isn't going to touch any time soon, however Professional applications will use as much RAM as you give them.

I haven't paid a lot of attention to the Titan cards as a whole, but why has resale been so good on the original Titan X when it has had FP64 stripped as compared to the original?

will be around 25-30% or so faster. Boost clock 13% lower than 1080 and shader count +40%. Not impressed for the price they are charging.

Is it really worth selling your 1080s for this?

I have no idea. As I've stated many times I would love to move to the simplicity of one card. But then I've already looked into budgeting for two of these. Was getting ready to put up one of my 1080s but I'll sleep on it. Honestly I need to eBay the shit out of my office but I REALLY hate dealing with that. I'll probably just sell one 1080 locally for $500 and be done with it, get one Titan and put the other 1080 in my old x58 system. Or I'll totally do something else.
