I recently got a legit copy of Windows 7 Pro, which I plan to use to downgrade my current Windows 7 Ultimate install. While there's nothing wrong with Ultimate, it has a ton of features I don't need, and the only thing I need Pro for is Windows XP mode.
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the tool mentioned in this blog post (which was also mentioned in a thread at Microsoft's forums.) The post is from four years ago, so I don't know if it's still possible to do this.
The download page for the tool also mentions that I have to use a version of the install discs that matches my current OS service pack - in this case, SP1. If that's true, then where can I download it? Does Microsoft offer an ISO download with the service pack already installed?
And don't worry, I plan to make a complete restorable backup of my main system drive before attempting this. I don't want to end up bricking my system. (I have OEM Acronis True Image 2015, I'll just clone my system drive to my old SSD.)
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
