I've been trying to find a good X79 board, but the reviews ive seen are rather dated, like the board, I'd rather have some actual recommendations from real people

I am no expert, but I imagine the gentlemen here who are would need some more information. What do you plan to couple it with, your planned use of your system etc.

I've used a lot a X79 motherboards over the last few years and i haven't used one i didn't like. But if i were you i'd just avoid Asus for the X79 platform, they seemed to have the most issues for me.

The most up to date ASUS x79 board is the X79-Deluxe.

Mine works well, and is very simple to overclock with.

The only thing about ASUS, is that you better hope you never have to do an RMA.

Older boards from pretty much any mfg are going to have very iffy USB 3.0 as ASMedia controllers tend to be utter trash.

If you don't need working onboard USB 3, then there are a lot more options.

I would be coupling it with an i7 4820k, (got it for free, wouldn't have paid for it) a PowerColor R9 380 4GB, and 8 Gigs of DDR3 1600Mhz Kingston HyperX Fury ram, Essentially this would be replacing my FX 8320 @ 4.0 Ghz and Gigabyte 970A-UD3P Motherboard

Go for Sabertooth or Rampage, you will not be disappointed, also support the dirty cheap E5-2670

I know I am just n=1, but my Asus P9x79 WS has been flawless since I got it at launch

msi x79 gd45 plus is what ive been running for a couple years now i love it no issues what so ever doesnt have an m2 slot though

None that I've experienced other than the USB 3.0 header for the front connections stopped working. But that seems to be the one problem the boards with the Asmedia controller have. The rear USB 3.0 still works.

On some boards uninstalling that driver fixes USB as windows will put its own driver and it acutally works much faster..

As an Asus Sabertooth X79 owner I too would recommend it. The vanilla P9X79 and Pro also. One caveat if you havn't already figured it out is that YOU WILL NEVER FIND ANY OF THESE BOARDS !......and if you do find one that's been taken care of or a piece of shit for that matter, be prepared to pay $225 and up for one.

Ironically enought I found an x79 sabertooth ebay, paid 222.50 for it only to have it come with bent cpu pins, I got a refund, bought a 480 and now I'm trying to figure out who the hell near me will repair the socket for me

X79 RVE Black Edition. I loved mine when I had it. If you can find one in good shape. I'm sure they are around.

I had zero issues with my Intel DX79SI... slot placement is not the best, but not the worst either. The board ran very well.

Resell it on eBay and note the bent CPU pins. Believe it or not people that can fix them will buy them, fix and then resell. Use the money to get another x79 board.
