The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt: Official Thread

Well just completed Blood and Wine.

Twas good, was great seeing Regis in this DLC as he was perished in the last Witcher novel. I think they nailed Toussaint as a very French country that I had pictured in my mind when I read the books.

The additional characters was a nice welcome whom of which were not in the books.

The Fairy story quest gave me a few laughs.

There was some annoying bugs not sure if its because of 1.21 or BoW, seems I'm not the only person on the web with localisation text errors popping up for some gwent games and battle against enemies. Hopefully they patch it up. Also some bugs with my sword scabbard from HoS.

Pity it was the end, because I played from an unfnished NG+ on Death March difficulty save I didn't unlock BoW until I had to quickly travel to Novigrad to do the Poet under Pressure quest to save Dandelion.

I think BoW goes after the main story. Went through walkthrough for decisions to get the good ending.

Finished my 2nd play-through of TW1 and finished TW2 last night! Now I'm ready to start my second play-through of TW3 tonight! Can't wait! Planning to do HoS & B&W as I go through it and choose the story-branches I didn't do last time. This time I sided with the Order and Blue Stripes, so it should be different than last time when I sided with non-humans.

It wasn't easy but I also managed to consistently neglect Triss in this play-through of TW1 & TW2, so now I feel better prepared to side with Yenifer in this play-through of TW3. Should be interesting.

You have to complete the main story before BoW to unlock one last quest with your chosen romance.

Hmm this is strange, in Novigrad my CPU usage drops by about 20% when switching from windowed to fullscreen.
It also eliminated a lot of sub-60fps framerate skips.

I totally agree. Everything is better as far as I'm concerned.
Yea I'm loving the shit out of this. Only a few hours in and barely scratched the surface.

Only complaint is the filter/shade they used for B&W. Not only does it make everything a piss yellow, it seems to remove all detail from textures and makes everything blurry. Thankfully SweetFX fixes things. How can anyone actually like it stock?

PISS Remover for Blood & Wine - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The quest in bank, where Geralt tries to recover his account is epic. Feels like home :)

Oh, and there are so many things taken from classic literature - Dulcinea's windmill with a monster in it and knight-errant fighting it. So Quichote. There is even an island of dr Moreau :)

And the Lebioda Witnessess, who sound like Jehova Witnessess as well as the quotes of followers of prophet. Or some banter from streets.

It's an epic DLC worth every single penny. It's fun, action packed and is better than full versions of shit released recently (yes, Homefront and Mirror Edge I'm talking about you :p)

Now to avoid the tax man...

The Heart of Stone has a very tough boss (Iris' Greatest Fear) but alternate mode Quen plus Leshen concoction goes a long way since I've focused on signs exclusively. Fighting conventionally with a sword & bombs didn't help at all, which meant I kept dying & reloading way too many times. I'm glad I got through it by figuring out what I had to do. I'm driving hard to get to the Blood & Wine quests since HoS isn't all that fun for me.

Is that the Super Turbo Light Mod (I think that's what its called)? I'm running that mod, which makes the game look great.

Can't seem to get mine to look like that with that mod lol. Although it's hard to tell with YT quality. Tried reverting back to stock and then applying, but everything still looks blurry compared to my custom cfg + sweetFX.

Only been able to spend an hour in Blood & Wine so far (busy with work and life) but it's been a great start. Graphics are amazing and I like the UI changes. Plays great on Steam Controller still.

Third one looks best. What's the performance hit?

The SweetFX profile has 0 impact. That is the beauty of it, it just uses different filters or something. Don't know the technical jargon. Stock B&W is horrible looking to my eyes. Here are two screenshots of the game at ultra 1440p, sweetFX on and off. You can simply press a key in game to toggle it on/off at will.

My tweaked cfg costs around 5-10fps. Just increases the draw distance/density of grass, textures etc. so you don't have that horrible pop in. You can make it more or less demanding depending on your hardware. I've tweaked mine to give the best IQ while maintaining 60fps minimum. Nvidia did a pretty good write up on all the settings to tweak and their impact.

What settings do you have it on? Cuz tbh, your ss don't look great. I remember it looking better when I was playing.

Those last two are the game at ultra via the menu. Just with silliness like motion blur and DOF off. No custom settings. Only difference is SweetFX on/off. Games always look better while playing than in ss.

Take a ss and post it. Did everything I could think of to revert back to stock to do a comparison.

Oh, forgot to add this is B&W only. The main game didn't have this piss yellow filter, at least not nearly as badly. That's why I immediately sought a solution upon starting B&W.

Here are a couple quick ss from the main game, 100% stock at ultra. Looks fine to me as far as the shade/lighting.

So whatever they did to B&W looks like ass without mods imo.

Huh, those screens look way better. Does B/W look aht bad? I know trailers are "enhanced" but that seems a bit much. Everyone else seem to think it looks great too.

Shrug. All I know is it looked like crap to me, and I googled "blood and wine sweetfx." When I saw the result of "B&W PISS Remover", knew that's what I needed.

That's an overly image with just a sweetFX profile toggled on/off. These are not mine and I didn't make the profile, so at least some others had the same experience as me.

hey, so going back and playing hearts of stone, I am getting a lot of billboard notices and other types of text in polish. also at times some characters have the PL thing before their name. It is not a language problem, that is set to english. Most things are in english, just a few in polish. Has anyone seen this, know how to fix?

yes, the expectation now is that they should be able to fully dedicate themselves to their cyberpunk 2077 game

welp, its a game, I would not expect weapons and ammo to be portrayed in a realistic fashion :)

sort of like the terminators, guns do nothing, so lets shoot them with.... guns

Wow 13gb patch today? Had to replace all of B&W or what? Pretty close to the end I believe, did every side quest/POI available and just working on the main. Haven't had a single bug in B&W.

Do you have to download each of the updated DLC files as well or just the main patch? (not using GOG Galaxy)

To be honest 1.21 update broke a lot of shit in this game. The localisation error messages put me off during fights in B&W and regular non expansion game quests. Glad they released a 1.22 follow up patch to fix things up.

And.....

It's about time they released a standalone Gwent game. I saw this coming a year ago when CDPR made the guys on reddit who created Gwent online to pull it down due to IP and trademark purposes.

I just finished hearts of stone expansion and started the blood and wine expansion. hearts of stone is mostly story content with a few new areas on the map and some hard bosses. blood and wine however is a completely new map with about 6 cities. It has missing enemies from the first game and everything is a lot tougher requiring more than just the rinse and repeat quen strategy. My build is based completely on signs so it has been pretty interesting

Sounds like my build. I'm still using the Griffin armor (Grandmaster now) and I'm fairly high level, but some of the enemies were still challenging. Not quite the difficulty spikes that Hearts of Stone had I didn't think, but still needing to be respected. They seem to have reigned in Igni damage some with this last patch, but my intensity is so high most enemies still explode. I love Sign builds!! Wish the Griffin armor wasn't so pot belly looking however.

I went through Blood and Wine during a NG+ run, so I was level 68 when I started; ended at level 82. Thoroughly enjoyed it! Like everything else Witcher, it left me wanting more. Can't wait for Stand alone Gwent to come out, and to see what they do with Cyberpunk.

Griffin school all of the way. I am mostly using igni & quen to get through the game with the occaisonal splash with aard & axii.
