Excluding certain MMO's that didn't come with finite endings, do you have games that you occasionally go back to that you've never beaten?

I've owned Mario Brothers 3 for the majority of my life ( I think I was 5 when my cousins got it.) but I only beat it a few years ago. I just glanced over my minted copy of Wizardry II is staring at me like "Happy friday dude you got 72 hours lets do this!"

I've got a few games I'm guilty of talking up but never actually beating like Front Mission, FF9 and Morrowind. I'll put like 60 hours into some of these, got distracted lost my save and just never finished. Multiple times in Morrowinds case.

So owbout u?

ArmA 3 if you count the campaign. Never finished it, mostly because wrangling the friendly AI can be a pain in the ass.

Never actually beat the original Super Mario Bros on NES.

I also never beat Skyrim despite getting to max level and doing just about everything but finishing the main quest (DLC included).

Final Fantasy IX and Dark Cloud. Dark Cloud I think I made it half way through. Then the original Xbox came out and I never touched my PS2 again. Final Fantasy IX I made it right before the final boss and a few weeks after that I joined the Air Force and never gone back to finish it. Eventually I'll replay and finish it on steam.

I've beaten all Elder Scrolls game, from Arena to Oblivion but never Skyrim. The game just does not want to behave on my system and I just got sick of the constant CTDs.

Elder Scrolls Oblivion - I have taken a run at doing it by power leveling 3-4 times and get distracted before I finish

Elder Scrolls Skyrim - still stuck in my backlog

Titan Quest (with the expansion) - I completed the based game when it was first release but have yet to complete the expansion

Grim Dawn - granted they only finished it recently but I am now making a run at it (in Act IV currently so it will fall off my list in a week or so)

Path of Exile - haven't played all the way through yet

Civ V - haven't played a game to completion yet

Pillars of Eternity - I started it when I was having computer problems and then didn't come back to it yet now that I have new computer

oblivion, skyrim, zelda wind waker, mgs5, many more
I tend to play story mode, get distracted with multiplayer, then move on to a new game before I finish.
But when can you really say youve beated oblivion/skyrim? There's so much side shit to do in those games you're never really done...

I think I did pretty much every quest I could find in Oblivion.

Same with Morrowind.

Of course I did use the editor to be able to carry unlimited items and also be able to get money very easily.

Also made it so I could learn skills more than 5 times per level.

Games are fun, but the super tediousness of leveling up, etc. just make it not worth the time... so I make it more fun.

In morrowind, I even made a set of flying boots of blinding speed. I could run and jump and then switch to the map and watch as my character flew across the map.

Full invisibility garb is awesome as well.

Technically at this point I've also spent like 100+ hours in Fallout 4 and haven't finished the main story line...

recently I can only recall Windwaker, and the Witcher (1st one) and Borderlands 2, of those three I guess its the Witcher that I liked best.

007 Golden Eye for the N64

I've been thinking about getting another N64 to play it and a few other games. That was a pretty good console all around. They had a lot of good games.

Super Mario is another one that I'd like to finish. I spent so much time playing it as a kid and never hunkered down to finish it.

Morrowind, Oblivion, and now Skyrim
Dark Souls
Mount & Blade

I've spent so much damn time in these games yet have never beaten any of them!

I finish almost every games I enjoy and am very careful anymore because I LOATH not finishing a game. That being said...
  • GTA Vice City, on PC (kb/mouse), couldn't get past a remote-control-copter part... easier on gamepad? meh, I liked GTA3 way more...
  • Xenogears... stopped half-way due to boredom, but wanna keep trying due to the OMG story/ending everyone talks about
  • Kingdom Hearts, this was an Xmas present so I felt obligated to play it... hated it, Donald was kinda funny I guess
  • King's Field II... not bad as I remember just a little frustrating...
  • Evergrace (PS2)... kill me, now...
  • probably some megaman games, but maybe not I was pretty good back in the day...

I think the I got the prison sewers or whatever it was in xenogears and walked off for some reason. I heard that part drags a bit but I think I genuinely just lost my save or something. I really need to give that game another shot.

Xenogears is verbose as fuck

god fucking DAMN once you hit the 2nd disc though.

enjoy reading page after page after page of all the cool shit you did but didn't really do.

I've also never beaten Morrowind, I don't think I beat Tribunal either although I did complete Bloodmoon.

I never even started Shivering Isles in Oblivion.

Haven't started Lonesome Road either for Fallout New Vegas.

Haven't gone through the Skyrim DLCs either.

Theme going on here o_O

Metal Gear... a few of them actually.

I've played 1 and 2 to completion (several times). MGS3 I did not care for, and only played it very little. MGS4 I enjoyed, but never did finish, and MGS5 is still a work in progress.

Lunar 2. There was a boss (the final boss I think) that I never could beat. I almost wonder if the game was glitched and he was unbeatable.
I played through the game a couple different times and leveled up a ton, but never could win.
Other than that, I've won all of my other favorites.

Another one for Final Fantasy IX. It is technically my favorite in the series, but I have never taken it to its conclusion. I've gotten to the last area on several occasions, too. Final Fantasy XII is another FF that I really like but never finished.

Odin Sphere (PS2). Got to the "Armageddon" book, failed over and over to beat the Cauldron (with Velvet), gave up "for now", never went back.

For me FFXII I played probably 1 or 2 two hours max. Then stopped because I couldn't tolerate 480p, I had been playing the 360 too long. Then I tried it on an emulator and not having inverted camera controls bugged me so I stopped playing. If the remaster has the option for inverted controls then I think I'll finally get to finish that one.

I love xenogears. Verbose is the word though.

I never beat odin sphere, I made it to the end and just stopped....

As for mount and blade... I think I beat it... I mean, on one of m runs, I destroyed every other faction but the lords hated me so much they won't join me. I may have hit a glitch then, because they kept on leaving a faction to join another faction but both factions were gone, and had no property.

Blaster Master
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Those are like my favorite games of all time. I've beat those games twice both on the original hardware and on using an emulator. Using the emulator IMO is much easier cuz you have savestates and can load cheats.

Perfect Dark on N64:
I played it all the way through the 'last' mission, but I never did beat the 'Final' bonus mission that you unlock by beating the game on the hardest difficulty.

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil:
I've cheated and gotten to the final boss, but I've never actually played the game legitimately to completion.

Cybernator:
This game is SO HARD. Really fun, though.

No One Lives Forever.

I played that game and loved it. Still do. It is, however, incredibly long.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

I need to get back to that one day...I was really enjoying that game

like this
Transistor: Seriously about an hour from finishing it; just can't bring myself to sit down and play it.
Skyrim DLC Packs: Haven't touched the game since the DLC was released, even though I own both packs.
Final Fantasy XII: Lost my save years ago and was about 40 hours in. Good thing the remaster was just announced.
Killzone Liberation: Very pretty looking game, but the story is just so 'meh' that I can't be bothered to load it up.

Skyrim: Still didn't beat either the main story, either of the rebellion plots or either of the DLC plots...

Fallout 3: Never finished Broken Steel, finished off everything else except that.

Fallout New Vegas: didn't complete all of the possible Hoover Dam outcomes, only for 1, maybe 2 of them.

Fallout 4...

Deus Ex HR is another.

Made next to no progress in FF7, 8 or 9, nearly finished 10's main plot, never killed Long Gui or Vercingetorix on FF13 (I don't consider an FF game complete unless I kill everything killable).

Dungeons of Dredmor. I love that game, but it has some seriously messed up RNG that screws you over at all times.

I don't think I've ever completed Quake 2, its a fun game and one of my favourite shooters, the reason I never completed it because I got stuck and didn't know where to go so I never bothered with it, unless I use the console to skip levels.

Still need to complete Middle Earth: Shadow Of Mordor, I got stuck on one of the main missions and it was annoying and time consuming so I simply gave up. Same with Far Cry 4 as well.

Oblivion: Got burnt out doing side quests, closing gates and getting XP before I even started on the main quest. Ha.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. : Game was giving display errors after an upgrade and had to patch and lose my save games. So I stopped playing.

Doom 3 - Got pretty far in hell and once again, somehow it didn't save my progress after a certain point, eventually did a new build and never got back to it.

Half-Life 2: Was fun for a while and then I got bored. Side note: Also bought Episode One but never ended up playing it.

Mega Man 1: For some reason that one was the hardest, always made it to the end and died. I think even with Game Genie...

Skyrim; Have hundreds of hours and every time I restart the game to try to 'finish' it I just end up getting lost on side quests and eventually tire of the game.
