Howdy all.

Researching LGA 1151 motherboards and am trying to find the best mini-ITX board with support for the Samsung 950 Pro M.2-2280 SSD at full speed.

Google has been slow going. The ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming-ITX/ac board is one of the few that I've found that sounds like it has support for it. Any better boards out there that you'd suggest?

Cases that could support a big 'ol Geforce 1080 or 1070 and a under-the-board M.2 2280 would also be nice to know about, if you have any suggestions on that front too ;)

Thanks!

I was going to suggest the MSI but the 2280 kinda eliminates that one. It only takes the 60mm length cards.

Far as cases go, there's always the Ncase M1 but there'll be a possibly lengthy wait for a new one given that there was just a run of those.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm currently leaning towards the silverstone RVZ02, despite the lack of support for a 3.5" when using a full sized GPU.

The Asus Z170I Pro Gaming has a PCIe 3.0 x4 slot that fits 2280 SSDs. I'm using a Samsung 950 Pro in mine.

I went for the Gigabyte GA-Z170N-Gaming 5 board. That will take a 2280 M.2 Gen3x4 SSD. That coupled with the Corsair Obsidian 250D makes for a nice PC. I've also got an AMD HD7770 which is quite a large card (not quite as bit as the latest ones mind) but it fits with room to spare - the specs say it can take cards up to 290mm. Granted it's not anywhere near as small as the RVZ02 case, but it does have a full size 5.25" bay and two 3.5" and two 2.5" internal bays.

Very happy with the case and board.

Except the problem there is that it's ASUS, the buy it and hope you never have to RMA it brand due to how utterly horrible their RMA department is.

However, you have to have really bad luck if your Asus board fails in the first place. Other than that, ordering on Amazon is FTW since they usually take it back.
