Fallout 4

While I'm waiting on the Far Harbor DLC to be released I started goofing around in FO4. Figured my character needed a new hairstyle. :p

Comixbooks - are you running that mod? What sort of performance hit does it cause?

Looks pretty cool. There should definitely be some lush vegetation, especially in Fallout 4 where it's been 210 years since the area got nuked. Hell, it's only been 30 years since Chernobyl, and there's been quite a bit of vegetation returning to that area...and it's got a slightly cooler climate than Boston. It would be cool if the vegetation peaked in the northeastern part of the map and gradually diminished (and/or got more "mutated") as you get closer to the Glowing Sea.

And yeah, also curious to see what kind of performance impact it has.

I'm Mod Free no way am I going to screw up my game =)

Ugh, really? Not a single mod? Played through once relatively quickly, then hit up a bunch of mods. Why not just backup your saves and start trying out some mods? If you're smart about it, it shouldn't mess anything up. Geez, not even a settlement placement mod like Simple Intersection? Dealing with vanilla settlement limitations would make me rage.

I'm going to hold off on that Resurrection mod for now since it's still technically a beta and Far Harbor is about to come out but it looks fantastic.

May 19th for Far Harbor. Midnight.

Strange request:

I have a friend who purchased Fallout 4 pretty cheap.

They like it but they are the kind of gamer... I think they wanted this game to be more like Skyrim in the sense that things would/could be more laid back if they wanted them to be where they could explore...get into combat if necessary.. and what their complaint is, basically, is: Let's say you are in Sanctuary trying to build and take your time and do something...and then roaches or something like that suddenly attacks you. You get swarmed even when you aren't looking for trouble. They really dislike that sort of thing.

Is there a mod, a setting, or something else that can be done to take down the "excess aggression/agitation" or... I don't know how to put it... I guess make this game more like Skyrim, broadly speaking?

I would have thought a high animal perk would have at least made it where nuisances wouldn't attack you but I went around in my game and that isn't the case. It isn't something I really took notice of because I'm a fan of these games and I don't mind the "FPS aggressive aspects."

They definitely don't like "twitch gaming" at all.

I hope this post makes sense. I'm hoping I can get this game dialed in closer to the way this person would like. Yes, they have it on the easiest difficulty. ;)

Are their mods that at least make it where every stray animal and nuisance like that doesn't attack you? Anything like that?

bah, i tired everything. uninstalled and reinstalled all those mods, different versions of them, etc etc.

cant have a 21:9 UI because it goes off screen to the right, but if i constrain it to 16:9 it just looks weird.

zooming in on scoped weapons is really strange as well.

I really wanted to play fallout 4

I guess it comes out Midnight does anyone know how to start the Far Harbor dlc is it a radio frequency again or something?

check your missions?

as for enemy aggression, the best way is just to crouch, get the espionage mags and associated talents.

Getting a Clue

I just read you need getting a clue quest needs to be done with the Cigars and Dog Meat in order to access the dlc. I did that months ago....

Have you tried to use this? It has a custom resolution option. What happens if you try and force the correct custom resolution that you need? Make sure you set it and then set all your .inis to read only after you have made the changes you want.

20 minutes til Far Harbor. Can't wait to see the new "strongest armor in the game", but it will have to wait as I'm dead tired. The new mirelurks will be terrible I'm sure.

Yay! I'm no longer under an NDA!

I very highly recommend bringing Nick along, you don't have to, but when I did my playthrough with Piper as my companion, she had no new lines.

I built a modern-style penthouse above Hangman's Alley for my new playthrough. Originally, I was using Conquest to create custom settlements but it seemed to have issues with supply lines.

edit: See my next comment for photos.

Something tells me it'll be a week or so before I play Far Harbor. Gotta wait for a mod or two to catch up.

Wow.. that looks quite nice, wasn't even aware you could make something that clean looking in the game. Though I do wonder: how do you get up there? Is there a staircase somewhere I missed or do you just use the powersuit jumpjets?

Yes! Fallout 4 just updated with Far Harbor. Time to get explorin'! :D

So what do you think...now that you've surely got a couple hundred hours into the expansion? :p

Console gamers upset about PC modders not porting their mods to the Bethesda app.
Things are heating up...

Dear console players. Please stop spamming modders to port their mods. • /r/fo4

Ha, fuck 'em! E'erbody knows you don't play Fallout/Elder Scrolls games on consoles.

I noticed the update today. Only had time to play for about 15 minutes before getting called away from the pc. I plan on hitting it again tonight. Black Desert Online pulled me away from FO4 for a month or so but its time to go back. Heck, I havent played the last DLC release with the robots. LOL So much to catch up on.

With 11 hours under my belt I'm loving Far Harbor. Haven't completed the main quest but I'd guesstimate I'm only halfway through.

I give a thumbs up to the expansion. I've had Nick with me and he has a lot of dialogue in the main quest, but I just got his perk so I want to switch it up.
I'll use Longfellow for the sidequests and Nick for the main quest line I think.
Also, being able to have a supply line to the Commonwealth is a godsend. I just had my first creature raid where I set up camp, and holy hell there were 20+ creatures wrecking everything, several legendaries among them. The three temporary heavy turrets didn't do much there. The new combat armor is awesome!

One thing I wasn't sure about was the option to tell BOS/Railroad about Acadia. I told the BOS, but nothing has happened yet. I assume I'll start seeing Vertibirds everywhere eventually.

All finished (still needs some furnishing though), probably the most fun I've had in this game.
I'm actually scared to start the DLC because I think it'll break my mods lol.

I'm very happy with the expansion. The only thing I saw was a bit of structure and texture flickering and in and out at the Nakumra's residence when starting the thing off. Did anyone else see that?

Yes, I did but it was only for a split second. Wasn't able to replicate.

And, my character has done the unthinkable...

Yep, he banged a robot. :p

Just wait til y'all find the new vault. It won't be during the Far Harbor main questline btw, you will have to do some searching for it as far as I can tell.... :D

Jesus Christ man, let us know where you are when Nuclear Holocaust happens will you? We will gladly be your labour slaves if you can build us THAT kind of accomodation...

Seriously though, you and your mods make Fallout 4 look like a Pre-Nuclear apocalypse game, not Post-Nuclear.

Friggin' sweet work. I wish I could build stuff that looked that good.

I want to run my load list as it stands by everyone... see at bottom of post.

I'm still running 1.8 snap build and so forth... I am having some slowdowns and anamolies in building related menus and I want to spring clean whatever I need to, update whatever I need to, and if there is any flotsam I need to get rid of I will:

What's safe to update...what should I leave alone...

I remember Ace said he was holding off on SnB 1.9 because of some issues so I never went for it. I'm still using 1.8 as an example.

I still wouldn't mind some better loading times with the game in general but I suspect there is nothing to be done about that.

I finally bought the game. I'd appreciate suggestions on what mods would be good to start out with.
