Normally when you take a picture, you get a photo of whatever you aim your camera at. That's not the case with the Le myope. This Raspberry Pi camera uses Google similar images to give you a "photo" of something that resembles what you are actually pointing your camera at.
 
Bahahaha - I can see that being quite effective when shooting wood or skin coloured scenes.

Lets just say google reverse image search gets confused with that sometimes.
 
How long before it matches to something racist?

How long after before someone flips their shit and overreacts to a computer program that matches things that look alike? I'm guessing nanoseconds.

Isn't this already a thing on the phones? Maybe I'm thinking of something else...

Le myope is French for "the myopic", or someone that can't see well (or more accurately, is near-sighted). Think of it as the camera version of:

I understand the essence of it, but in practice it seems to invite insanity.
 
Not only does it suck (both the idea and the implementation), it sucks real slooooowww.
