For a little back story (and pics) see my other thread where I sought advice on the situation

First time I've ever had an issue in 10 years -- advice needed, pics inside

Basically this guy is an asshole who's more than happy to let other people pay for his mistakes and lack of knowledge in general.

Sold him a Qnix monitor, debezeled, and in perfect working order. (ass cheap might I ass for 130ish, 1440p/27" model)

He receives it and had the red tint issue due to him not knowing about ICC color profiles, or the other various things you have to do to setup a Korean 1440p monitor. There were some scratches in the plasti-dip on the metal frame as well due to shipping. I told him the exact steps to do to resolve the color issue, installing a very specific ICC profile andjusting red channel gamma. He said he didn't want to mess with any of that and that "the panel must be damaged". Uhhh okay, someone tries to help you fix a known problem and you are too stupid/lazy to try?

No worries though -- because I put insurance on the whole thing through FedEx. It's there for situations like this. He was apparently moving (at this point I doubt that) and was in this big huge rush to return the item and get a refund. I was very clear to him that I was happy to give him a refund minus the 30 dollars it cost me to ship. (it was actually 38, but I'm a man of my word)

I was also clear to him that a better option would be to let me put in an insurance claim for the item, that way he wouldn't have to ship it back to me. He ignored all of this and sent it back via FedEx to me. Panel arrived and I tested it with the right ICC profile, and the panel is flawless, no dead pixels perfect color even when put next to my S2716DG and U2711 Dell panels.

Funny kicker -- he was adament that the buttons were "broken". He's so ignorant of the design of these things... the speaker as it comes from korea has 2 very crappy 2W speakers in the housing, since i debezeled the whole thing, obviously the buttons that control the speakers will do nothing. He couldn't understand this. He claimed the brightness adjust buttons don't work, I explained to him the design of the panel means you have to hold down the button and the levels adjust slowly. (Tested this again when panel returned) of course it worked fine.

Funny kicker 2: The monitor cycles through a full screen red/green/blue test sequence on power up. The retard actually thought this was a sign of it being broken.

I have the whole paypal communication exchange where I was helpful, professional, and trying to resolve it so nobody loses money. After i sent the refund offer of 135, (165-30 shipping) he acted shocked that he wasn't getting a full refund.

Imagine if you sold a TV to someone, paid a chunk to send it across the country, and they were too stupid to plug it in, then expected a full refund. He was too anxious to go through the proper insurance channels since he kept claiming it was damaged.

Of course paypal sided with him -- I'm actually the one that escalated the issue after it became clear he doesn't read or comprehend any of the messages I sent him.

He bought a Korean 1440p monitor and didn't have a clue how to set it up, he honestly expected it (and he told me this) that it's supposed to be plug and play in terms of color. Anyone that spends 5 minutes on the display forum knows these off brand (even though it's a samsung panel) all have quirks and require a proper color profile/calibration. He spent 160 dollars expecting it to work exactly like a 600 dollar monitor.

Basically I had to foot the bill because he was too stupid to configure a monitor, and too impatient to use the insurance I paid out of pocket for.
 
Yeah, sounds completely stupid on his part.

I will say, though, that he did have 8 posts. That's a huge red flag in my book. You seem like a good dude, just avoid any noob HardForum posters from here on out.

BTW insurance is your problem, not his. It covers the shipper who paid for it.

While he could have been a bit more polite with his wording, I can understand his frustration. As sellers on forums, we aren't Best Buy or Walmart. Returns cost people money, and it can be infuriating when the return is simply because someone didn't do their research or didn't want to put work in to fixing an easy issue.

Add in the fact that the buyer holds all the power to charge back or file a claim on a whim, then it can get pretty crappy pretty quick.

I would have loved to go through insurance -- however since he was so eager to send it back directly to me and not go the insurance route, FedEx isn't going to pay out if the monitor is shipped again (which is was) and not covered. They require pictures and proof of the damage for the trip that was covered, he wasn't interested in this even though it would have saved us both money.

And before the true nature of the buyer was revealed I never once was rude/snarky/name calling to him... business is business and you keep it professional. No one has infinite patience for stupidity though, and after all my attempts and solutions were ignored yup... I got mad. You'd probably be pretty mad if someone out of sheer ignorance or laziness cost you money despite your best effort to resolve it and especially when you paid for insurance but can't use it due to them not wanting to go the proper route.

Overall I paid 40 dollars to learn the lesson of never dealing with a noobie.
