Comcast “Cares” On Twitter. What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

I thought this was a joke when I first saw the hashtag. Why would the winner of the 2014 Worst Company in America knowingly open itself up to the hate train like this? Obviously Comcast didn't expect this to blow up in its face like it did but I think they'll know better next time.

If there is one lesson that large corporations really, really need to take to heart about the 21st century, it is this: unless you are universally beloved (and maybe even then), probably don’t self-promote with Twitter hashtags. It will not end well for you. And who would be the latest business to fall for this trap? It’s Comcast, the cable company America loves to hate.

Too bad they dont care enough to fix this:

Its great when you have a monopoly and can just shit on your customers and they can't leave.

HAHAHAHA, they deserve all the hate they get.

I will qualify that by saying it completely depends on where you live on how bad or good their service is.

As for the area that I am now:
1st house - took them at least 7 times coming out to "fix" the connection to the point of where it would work most of the time. Then the last time they came out they blamed it on a "test filter" that "they had installed a few months prior" Only problem was that the box on the side of the house they put this "test filter" in had only been on the house for a few weeks.

2nd house - took them 6 times to get the connection working mostly ok. And even then, if the modem would lose connection it would sometimes take a few hours for it to connect again.

3rd house - installed Comcast modem/router even though they were told before install that customer wanted to use their own. Then when they called in, the Comcast people said that they would have to send somebody out to hook it up because they couldn't get it working over the phone. So they come out and then tell the customer that the modem they have will not work with Comcast.

So, Comcast in Huntsville, AL is utter and complete crap... well, the customer service and installers have no clue. When the service itself works, it is mostly ok.

I will never move to a place that is Comcast only.

Edit: Had to swap 2 words since I am apparently lisdexic today.

After looking it up, it doesn't seem as savage as I was hoping. How many deleted tweets I wonder....

$4b to purchase Dreamworks, but good luck getting infrastructure improvements. #ComcastCaresAboutYourMoney

Do they though? I mean, lots of places are stuck with comcast alone, do they really care, when you're almost strong armed to give them your money anyway?

Comcast cares alright, as long as you're a new customer and want a triple play package.

Didn't these fuck stains just buy Time Warner? If so I'm already pissed off... I moved into my house 3 years ago, and Time warner has been an absolute dream in terms of price and what I get. I currently pay 46 dollars a month and get 120Mbit down, 12Mbit up (it's really 100/10) but they allow for 20% overspeed just to make sure you get what you pay for .

Never had a billing issue, only one outage for maybe an hour or 2.... I'm going to be so angry if the shittieness that is comcast oozes into Time Warner.

Regulators Approve Charter Communications Deal for Time Warner Cable.

My in-laws can get 300 down, 30 up for $57 US/month. "Vivo Fiber" & crappy exchange rate...

The Comcast/TWC deal was nixed. So wtf are you guys talking about... Charter isn't Comcast.

In honor of #ComcastCaresDay I'm also going to put everyone who calls me on hold for 20 minutes and then eventually hang up.

LOL, best comment on the list.

They did buy dreamworks though, and that money used to buy them could have been used towards infrastructure upgrades, by why the fuck should they care about the customer experience when they have a potential cash cow on their hands now. Gotta get some of that sweet streaming money.

I guess I'm the lone dissenter here--we've had Comcast for a year, and we have yet to experience a problem except for a couple brief outages.

FWIW, if you're a current customer coming to the end of a promo period, call them up and tell them you want to disconnect your service because the price is going up. They might ask a few questions about why, but then they'll offer you the new customer discounts. I just did this last week. Our bandwidth requirements are pretty low, so we got 10Mbps for $20/mo. This is in an area where AT&T isn't bothering to upgrade their network, and we can only get 6Mbps on DSL for $57/mo, so it's not like Comcast have much competition.

I, wow, that's nice... Comcast gives us 30Mb down and 6Mb up, with outages for a couple hours every week or so. Of course, being Comcast, speeds never come close to those above. They also apparently throttle speeds further at night, if the people on my game servers are to be believed. Not sure on price, but I wouldn't imagine it's cheap.

Ah, the fun of a complete monopoly in the marketplace.

FWIW I always get the full speed I pay for over Steam, but the service they offer is definitely not worth the asking price. If Google Fiber ever came to my town Comcast would be done.

While it is debatable if they truly care, I participated in this event at my daughters school. They provided equipments, food and drinks and a matching donation for every individual who volunteered their time. So it was on the medium side of charitable acts, but they did indeed donate and volunteer people and resources for school maintenance.
