Dark Souls 3

I bought mine on CDKeys (very similar to GMG) and am still waiting on my Steam unlock. Not like I care that much since I'm still in the middle of a DS2 playthough.

Did you already receive your key from CDKeys? Anyone else purchase via CDKeys get your key yet?

Still waiting on mine and I pre-ordered back in Dec/Jan. Considering the game goes live tomorrow at 7pm EST, usually CDKeys emails them out 48hs prior -- especially if their is a preload.

I tried to play DS2 blind as a SL1 character. basically did not go well. all I had were broken weapons by the time I reached the second bonfire in the forest of lost giants. Little estus... Anyway I'll be doing this blind again, but I think.... Hrm. Probably mage will be the easiest, typically they have a lot of powerful casts. But the mana pool thing might change things a bit. :)
Anyway that will be the fun of discovery

That statue is amazing!

I can't wait. It's scheduled for delivery in July. By then I'll have waited 2 years for it (announced 2 years ago, pre-order began a year ago).

Anyway Amazon shipped my DS3 Collector's Edition. I know I have the PS4 version but the guys in the console forum don't yack about these games as much as the PC players. I won't be playing it right away though since I'm in the middle of Divinity: Original Sin, that and they always announce timed DLC right about the time I'm 3/4 through the games and I don't like waiting for that stuff to continue playing (I never do NG+).

I would just call in for Work for this since I hate one of my boses to the core I just reported him to corporate for being a dick.

I guess you need to solo the first boss then you get the White Soapstone off a NPC women for Summons I'm going to summon Help for all the bosses.

Nope, nothing yet. I checked the DL link this morning and it still tells me that it will be available either on or slightly before 4/12.

You will probably see them today or tomorrow, depending on when they get keys or retail boxes and copy all of those keys to people's accounts.

I suck at these games however i play the heck out of them. Anyone know which build makes the game the easiest? Like how Magic made a lot of DS1 and DS2 a joke? And don't give me that shit about doing whatever I want to do, that never works because end game builds need to be specialized to do any decent damage.

Pyromancer will still probably be the go-to starting class for those of us that are not great at these games. It's hard to tell because a lot of early PC coverage showed off the Knight since that was the only class that worked with breaking the game during the early patches.

While Pyromancy is a nice bonus for non-magic users, I found that just having a bow as a secondary weapon works much the same way. I my two most recent runs, I've barely used any pyromancy spells and have used a whole lot more arrows. The time those pyromancy spells take is usually just long enough to put you in constant danger.

pyromancy was really strong in DS1, I used it to complete a SL1 run. I never used it in DS2. They nerfed it by tying the strength to attributes, which was kind of a bummer.

for the preloads, I have found steam to be pretty stupid. You will probably want to restart it after release time. It is still not showing "hours" :)

I never pre-load anymore as I heard it's better (for those with fast internet connections) to just download the game the moment it unlocks...I forgot the reasons why...but since I have a 50/50 connection it's not an issue..as far as a good starting class you can't go wrong with the Knight/Warrior...you can still use pyro and such no matter what class you are

Depending on how fast your internet is vs your CPU, it may be faster to download than to decrypt the files. 50/50 gets you around 6-7 MB/s down, right?

While I like the idea of pre-loading, it does seem that with so many huge "day 1" patches that it's often pointless.
It isn't common, but sometimes companies blame issues on pre-loads, too. Hasn't stopped me from always doing 'em though. I think it just feels good to have the game on your machine :p

The only issue I ever had with unlocking was on Witcher 3 which I got through GOG. The file didn't want to unlock and there was a bunch of crap to workaround to get it to work.

Steams have always been good.

Amazon cancelled my preorder for some reason, so I just bought it through gamesplanet and it's downloading now.

Looking forward to playing tonight after work.

I never played a Dark Souls game in a Higher Rez on PC so I hope it looks immersive.

yup 6-7 MB/s is exactly my usual download speeds

Looks better than on the consoles, that's for sure.

it's more about the feel of the game with 60fps that makes the biggest difference...the graphics are best on PC for DS3 but it's not a night/day difference

The reason why a fast connected computer can be faster is only based off of 2 things, Speed of your CPU and HDD. Remember the preload is a glorified encrypted zip file. So if your HDD is slow and everything is on a single drive (zip + install directory) it will slow things down. Add to that a slow CPU or if Steams unzipping utility is well multi threaded or not can impact the decryption and unzipping. Still in my experience my PC is faster decompressing/decrypting preloaded files than a release day download speeds on any popular title. On release day of big titles I generally don't get more than half my full 4MB/s download speeds. It generally starts at 4MB/s then drops off to between 1-2MB/s.

for starting class, probably any will work fine, but you don't want points put into things you would never use. I like a more agile character with shield for blocking. Anyway this gunna be good :)

DAMN IT! They changed the requirements to a 7950 ATI. I can't play it on my 7700, and I was so close to buying it :(

Yep, 300Mbps here, so I never preload since it takes way longer to unpack.

So Steam is not slow as hell on big title release days for you? I am surprised cause it can't even saturate a 35mbps connection on release day for any popular title for me. Though to be fair it is speedy any other time, I have installed and uninstalled ARK like 3 times @ 43GB.

lol, you must not have a bandwidth cap. I hate stuff like gta V, which sucked up 1/6th of my cap, goddamn greedy comcast

CDKeys is down for a bit. Hopefully they'll have my key in place when they come back.

So I just realized no Steam Cloud support on this game.

That sucks, as I split my playtime between 3 different PCs :(

You can just copy the save file manually though. Save on a network share then copy the latest version from there. If you have a sync program you can even do it all automatically.

Yeah no cap for me. I'd probably go over the cap constantly if I had one. I just bumped my speeds to 75/75 starting Wednesday, if I had a cap I'd be trying to lower my speeds because it makes no sense to have fast internet with a cap. To me the only cap is (Max Speed * 24/7 download and upload). If that cap is lower than that number then your max speed is nearly useless.

I think you can fake steam cloud support, by making a link from the saved game area into the folder where steam does its cloud thingy.

Got my key from CDKeys as well. Steam Cloud support can be faked on most games. Find where the game stores the config files and copy your save in there. It's a manual process, but at least you can play it on multiple machines if you want.

Just got my key from cdkeys, preloading as we speak :)

Same. Although I had to use he original purchase email that contained the 'download' link. Good thing I still had that email but I imagine they will be email the codes out anyway.

Will the PS4 version release around the same time or is that for the PC version only?
