Corsair SF600 600w SFX Powersupply

I got mine today. Installation was easy and when the computer is in idle fan don't spin. But little gaming and fan start spinning. I noticed that psu make something brii noise.

Edit. That noise coming directly from fan. When I stopped that sound end. Now after gaming fan is still spinning. I hope that will stop spinning at some point. Last game session ended about 40 min ago.

I am using Ncase.

It sounds promising so far but I want to see a review from JohnnyGURU or a site of that caliber. Shouldn't be too long I'm guessing.

Would be kind of weird seeing a reveiw from jonnyGURU no? Considering he works for corsair now and may have had a hand in testing or designing this psu.

I also received my SF600 today.
I am impressed with the overall packaging, better than Silverstone.
The 24pin atx and the 8 pin motherboard cable are exactly the same length as my Silverstone 45sf-g. I thought it would be longer.
However the power inlet on SF600 is upside down compared to Silverstone so the power cable in my Ncase has to bend around, and this is the only way you can fit in Ncase M1, fan intake facing outward.
The cables are quite stiff. Especially the ATX 24pin, there isnt much room for the cable in Ncase M1 so it is pusing against my radiator now. Some shorter/softer aftermarket cable definitely would help.
It is very quiet, but I do observe the fan will sometimes kick in below 50W (web browsing with 6700K oc 4.5G @1.28V with iGPU.
I'll see how is the noise under load when I get my GTX970 tomorrow.

IIRC he doesn't do the reviews on that site anymore.

They sell power cables that fit opposite way on the ncase website.

OklahomaWolf has editorial con at the JG site

I do not have direct information, but I would be pretty surprised if JGs current employment situation would prevent Wolf from fairly reviewing a product.

I also received my SF600 today to replace my silverstone 500W sfx-l. The packaging feels really premium, the psu itself and cables come in cloth bags like high end headphones.
The cables are stiff but not too bad. Easy installation overall. No ATX bracket included in my box.
As far as noise level goes, the SF600 is amazing comparing to the silverstone. The silverstone unit has issues with the semi-fanless controller and I observe a clicking noise as the fan goes on and off rapidly at idle. Unlike the silverstone's clicking fan noise, the SF600 doesn't have any noise at idle. My setup draws around ~430W under full load, and the psu does have a whining fan noise when benchmarking. But it's still quieter than the silverstone sfx-l. I use a silverstone rvz02 case so the psu's fan directly faces the open vents side panel. Even like this I have to put my ear <10cm of the case and turn off the air conditioning to barely notice anything.
Big thanks to people on this thread and I figured I have to sign up to post my feedback here.

Did anyone see the price update on these? It seems they raised the price for the PSU.

U1VWLgH.jpg

I asked them about the price jump of $119 to $149 (25% over the stated MSRP in their press release), and was told this today..

"..there has been a pricing error and the web team is currently working to get it fixed. The issue should be cleared up shortly."

Corsair US direct price is now back to $119.

I'd like to jump on this before they decide to raise the price back up again, but on the other hand, I'd really like to see some more reviews and hear some more feedback from users first. I did ask them for such an SFX back in 2013, so I do kinda feel obliged to buy one either way (even though they're just a little late to the party, lol).

(and hey guys, missed you all! :D)

My SF600 is out for delivery today, hopefully have it installed in the next few weeks.
I bought direct from Corsair's site to avoid the 2-4 week delay on Amazon.
I'm excited!

Received mine today. I'll hopefully have some spare time on the weekend to install.

The mail man rang today but I wasn't there to collect :-(
It is currently "on the way to the depot for collection by client". That kind of news always gets me worried with the postal system... wish me luck!

So it looks like I'll have to RMA my SF600 already. The fan will give out vibration noise when it start spinning fast. Imagine the noise that the harddrive will give when it is reading/writing, very distracting.

Do you have an estimate of what temperature or fan RPM the PSU is at when it starts making that noise?

I have no idea, but I guess it is quite warm inside Ncase M1 as the fan is on most of the time.
The noise started to kick in few minutes in Witcher 3 and after playing for an hour then quit the game it was very audible because other fans quiet down. The case of the PSU was just little warm throughout though.

In which orientation is the PSU fan? Facing outwards or inwards?

And what is opposite it within the case? HDD cage, 120mm fan?

I am going to build this evening and am thinking of facing the PSU inwards with a 120mm fan blowing at it instead of the 3.5" HDD cage.

Facing outwards, I believe this is the only way with the stock M1 PSU cable.
The back of the PSU is a 240mm radiator blowing in.

Hmm, well with your radiator that is probably the best orientation. Since I do not have a radiator, I would like to switch it around. But I obviously did not think about the PSU cable... damn. I will see how it goes in a few minutes.

I got my SF600 last night and got it installed in my NCase M1. I am quite happy with this power supply. The fan stays off when I'm doing light tasks, will turn on when I game and will eventually turn back off again once I return to light tasks/idling. Also the fan doesn't make any noises like my old Silverstone SX600 did, and no coil whine. Also when the fan is running during gaming I can't hear it over my blower style GTX 970 so no complaints there.

Anybody figure out how to connect two SSDs behind the front panel of the M1 using the Corsair SF power cables? I cannot connect them without forcing them in a LOT. I am worried there is too much tension on the connection of the SSD...

From the review I read, it seems the fan starts spinning at approx. 1000rpm, which doesn't inspire confidence that this is a silent PSU. 92mm fan at 1000rpm minimum?

Amazon updated mine to delivery date of 29th, hopefully it actually comes through then.

For those of you changing over from the Silverstone SX500-L, can you do a direct swap? I'm hoping I can leave my Silverstone cables in place and just plug them into the Corsair, saving me some extra work.

They have different pinouts. The cables from the SilverStone will not work with the Corsair.

Wtf, Corsair just raised their price back to $149 again today.

At that price, I'll just wait it out for some reviews first. Feedback here seems pretty good so far, thanks guys!

I was unable to install 2 SSDs in the front of my M1 using the Corsair cables. Eventhough I fliped the SSDs and managed to get the cabling in, the lid just wouldn't close.

Now I have the two SSDs on the rear side of the front panel.

Maybe some custome cabling would be a sollution. Any suggestions?

Can't think of any suggestions (other than flipping the orientation of the drives, like you tried), but just wondering.. are the Corsair cables longer than usual, and there's just too much to cram into that spot - or is it the position of where the cables connect to the PSU that is interfering with your dual SSD placement?

Iirc, even for my shortest combo of cables for the Silverstone SX600-G, I still had to fold a couple of them once or twice and squeeze them between the backside of the PSU and the 3.5" HDD rack.

No, it is not the cable length. The cable when connected to the SSD cannot bend fast enough and therefore becomes too thick. I took a picture trying to show how the cable sticks out from the SSD inside the case.

The only options I see if you want 2 drives in the front are 1. using the end piece of the SATA cable that has an L shape and point the cable inwards OR 2. buying new cables / buying a molex -> SATA adapter.

Have you considered SATA power extensions cables with left or right angle connectors?

How big is the SF450 and SF600 compared to the Silverstone SFX (not SFX-L) 450W psu?

Looking at getting one to quiet everything down. Not sure which one to get though, I don't need the extra capacity of the 600W unit though I am wondering if it stays fanless for longer than the 450W one

Can you post an example?

Amazon has a few: one , two, three.
Out of those, three looks the most promising.

Big? they're the same size... sfx is a standard and that includes standard measurements...

600W is fanless to 120w and 450 to 90.

Update regarding the SSDs in the front of the M1 case:

I can't even get a single SSD in the front of the M1 case as the Corsair power cables don't allow the bend without a lot of force. Has anyone else had any success?

It's not a huge deal for me as I can fit both SSDs on the inside of the front panel...

I'll be receiving my SF600 this week, so I can't help with any hands on experience.

It seems like a solution would be to create you own power cables and just use the existing power connectors.

And.......?

Will the fan start on different temps?
No. These controllers are at a set temp but that has not been stated anywhere. Unless the PSU outputs temp somewhere you'd have to get a probe and do it.
