I want to buy a good working condition X79 / 2011 motherboard. I'm not all that picky on the make model, but it must have:
  • USB 3.0
  • Xeon E5 v1 support (in motherboard CPU support list)
  • Gigabit LAN
  • Multiple PCIe 4x or wider slots
  • I/O Plate
Something like an ASRock X79 Extreme6, Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4 / GA-X79-UD5, MSI X79A-GD45 Plus, or equivalent is what I'm after. I know these aren't cheap, but I'm willing to pay a reasonable price for one.

Let me know if have one you're willing to sell!

I have an Asus Rampage Extreme with a few bent pins that doesn't seem to affect anything that I may part with cheap. It's currently in my main gaming rig so I don't have any pics. But, It's one of these:

It's running a 6-core I7-3930k OC'd to 4.5GHz at the moment. If you're interested in the chip with it, I can work something aggressive out for you. PM me any further questions. Thanks!

Asus only lists Xeon E5 v2 support for it. No Xeon E5 v1 support. Does it support the v1 chips?

Are you using all the RAM slots? The bent pins could correlate to an unused RAM slot or be duplicate power or ground pins.

Interesting... I couldn't find any confirmation that this can run a v1 Xeon, so I'll have to pass. Thanks for the offer though.

these rampage boards support the v1's, depending on how old the board is, you'd want to have him update the bios first, but i have a Rampage IV Gene (same board specs just mATX) and am running an e5-2670v1 in it right now. the asus site even lists the v2's for my board are supported but not the v1's. if anything sways you from buying the other dudes board, it should be the possible bent pins, not the processor support. :)

But what is this thread all about?

RIVE BIOS 4403 issue 5A with Xeon E5 2687w ES C0 [Archive] - ASUS Republic of Gamers [ROG] | The Choice of Champions – Overclocking, PC Gaming, PC Modding, Support, Guides, Advice

They say v1 support was never official and was removed after 1404. Was it put back in? What BIOS are you running?

That's engineering sample, they removed support for those when the retail comes out. What e5 cpu will you be using? If it's retail then you will be fine. The bios I'm using is 4901

I'm not quite sure yet, maybe E5-2650, maybe something faster, but it will definitely be non-ES / "retail".
