VAT = Value Added Tax, which is a tax used by all nations in the EU on most non-commoditized goods. Being that the tax is the difference between wholesale and retail pricing, the USD price usually lies somewhere in between. I've seen some sites say that we can expect the USD price to be around $1,300 before sales tax.

any update on when is this coming out in US?
When the PG278Q was released, ASUS was shipping the displays by boat across the Pacific to keep final retail cost down. It would probably be safe to say that the release in the US will be between the UK release of February 26 and two months after that. So don't be surprised if we Americans don't see any samples until going into the beginning of May.

I believe it's the same panel, but the stands is better on ASUS. Back is matte vs glossy and still need to overclock to 100

I've been holding out on buying a new monitor but I think this will be it...hopefully it doesn't take forever to actually release like I know it's gonna

someone got one

it's pretty sexy. i just dont like this reso for a lot of reasons if it were my one and only monitor.

What happened to clean lines? Is this over the top Transformers-looking design what market research told them to go with? Looks good otherwise, though.

I'm not really a fan of the design. Somehow Acer beat them in the design department this time. The X34 looks a lot cleaner minus the Predator logo on the bottom bezel, but it doesn't stand out that much thankfully.

interested in ordinary user reviews on this one when it becomes available.

Incidentally I like how google translate translated some of that Filipino review page's text to " explosion eyes ". lol

It looks like it doesn't fix any of the issues from the X34.

From what I've read in user reviews on overclock.net - some people experience coil whine still, scanlines are still a lottery.

The only plus I see is a better OSD.

Sounds like there is zero reason to buy the Asus with the price premium then.... Was really hoping for a new 21:9 this year with 144hz and DP 1.3, but I guess this will be it :\

I've been looking up this and the 21:9 35" VA 200hz ones (acer predator Z35). The 21:9 , 35" 200hz VA has much too poor of a response time for 200hz but is decent/"ok" at 100 - 120hz supposedly. I've also read reports of color banding too unfortunately.
It's contrast ratio (combined with the slightly increased size) sounds great for some HD video content duty however, and it's 2560 x 1080 would result in the capability of some higher frame rates/gfx settings.
If I were to opt for a 3440 x 1440 100hz I'd prob wait for this asus one. I've had good luck with a lot of asus hardware so if going that route would wait for this one to show up on amazon.

Reading Vega's review now. I wasn't in the market before so hadn't really paid attention to it I guess. Definitely the type of comparison I'm interested in . Very much appreciate the post, thanks (Vega).

It's like half these monitors I see nowadays are never even for sale, just talked about a lot online. I need a new monitor and cannot for the life of me ever find anything decent

It's usually even longer before one will show up on amazon, especially with amazon/prime as the seller but often worth the wait as long as you already have something decent to use in the meantime.
I'm still debating between the two considering it would be for a rec-room couch monitor gaming. I was planning on using it on a rolling stand at the end of a coffee table rather than using a tv since I hate gaming on tvs, even for story mode games like WalkingDead, Tales from Borderlands, Wolf among us, and action oriented scenematic story mode ones like Witcher3. I'd also be using it for some HD movies and streaming services so that makes me lean more toward the 35" VA for the better black levels/detail-in-blacks.

STAY AWAY from anything 2560x1080, I used the BenQ for about 3 hours before putting back in the box, that size and resolution is really really jarring.

I like this monitor but that laser on the bottom would drive me completely bonkers, I have a glass desk.

Just ordered one from Amazon, says they'll ship it when it becomes available....got a feeling I'll be waiting months and months

I figured I'd wait until they are in stock.
Dug up another video preview review. Looks great on her desk.

Yeah, that's my fault for not jumping on the Amazon one. I was waiting for the Newegg listing to show up since I have Premiere with them.

Best I can tell, the short list of Amazon pre-orders have all recevied theirs (U.S.A.).

My Amazon order from February is still open but no sign of a monitor yet :( Last I heard from them was an email checking I still wanted to keep the order open a week or so ago.
