The Division - officially announced for PC!

Will you need to have people to work with to play this game well or can you just as easily run around by yourself?

I believe the devs said you can either solo or group up.

I'm guessing high levels/raid equivalents would need grouping though.

Yeeeah....I dunno, he's talking about how great it looks but the video isn't really giving me that impression. A lot of blurry/muddy looking textures abound.

Well you are looking at the console copy of the game. And massive youtube compression.

Does it look like what Ubisoft originally hyped it up to be? Don't think so.

This last week I have seen more of The Division then I have for years. I am more hyped for it now then ever before. I would say its living up to its hype and more. GFX don't make a game good.

I don't know if it's living up to the hype but it has potential...graphics look fine on PC but I still have questions about gameplay...hopefully next weeks beta is like the Battlefront beta which surprised a lot of people and had amazing graphics and fun (but repetitive) gameplay

Well then maybe Ubisoft should stop trying to use fake graphics as a selling point

it's not a selling point...anybody that is looking at early E3 videos and such is savvy enough to follow development all the way through and have seen the recent gameplay videos and screenshots...so they know what they are getting and no one thinks that the early videos are representative of actual gameplay (except the graphics downgrade people who can't let it go)

it's not a selling point...

Of course its a selling point, otherwise Ubisoft would go to the trouble of doctoring up footage that isn't going to be representative of the final product.

anybody that is looking at early E3 videos and such is savvy enough to follow development all the way through and have seen the recent gameplay videos and screenshots...

And of course are savvy enough to call bullshit on Ubisoft's practices, except for the white knights, apologists and apathists.

so they know what they are getting and no one thinks that the early videos are representative of actual gameplay (except the graphics downgrade people who can't let it go)

Which has exactly fuck all to do with calling out Ubisoft on these questionable practices, because I guarantee that if the original trailer was shown with the graphics as they exist now, there wouldn't be nearly as much pre-release hype up until this point.

And if graphics didn't sell, Ubi wouldn't still be pimping these bullshit screenshots on its own website at this very moment....

a trailer from years ago is not a selling point for any half way sane gamer who is still interested in the game...

If you don't understand the psychology behind marketing then there is no point in having this discussion with you because in your mind Ubisoft or any other publisher will always be vindicated in the end. No doubt you will be using the same lame excuse when it turns out that the Wildlands reveal trailer is also a load of bullshit.

I think you're the one that needs a lesson in the psychology behind marketing as you clearly don't understand how marketing works...getting people interested in your product is the first rule of Marketing 101...tons of consumer products go through revisions and changes from when they are first shown to their retail release...movie trailers show scenes that sometimes don't make it into the final cut...Nvidia showed off a dummy product to show off new tech...early demos are just prototypes...you clearly don't understand game development either...or maybe you do and just like to focus on certain aspects to feed your desire to stoke the fires of controversy

I don't know what backwater school you studied marketing at, but a cardinal rule is that it is impermissible for promotional material to be misleading in its own right.

...tons of consumer products go through revisions and changes from when they are first shown to their retail release...

And all that pre-release advertising is subject to very specific qualifications that spell out in unequivocal terms that the thing in question is subject to change.

movie trailers show scenes that sometimes don't make it into the final cut...Nvidia showed off a dummy product to show off new tech...early demos are just prototypes...

Seriously my brain just exploded from how inane and incomparable these analogies are.

No, the problem is you and your ilk bending over backwards to make excuses for this shit hole company. We saw the same bullshit previously where the Watch Dogs devs were literally caught categorically LYING about the graphics months before release, and yet the apologists still feebly defended poor old Ubisoft. Of course what you et al fail to acknowledge is that this controversy is repeatedly concerned with Ubisoft games whilst most of the other AAA publishers like EA, 2K and Bethesda are happy to release trailers more accurately portraying the final product.

There is footage in the Star Wars Episode 8 Trailer that isn't even in the final movie. It's a perfect example. polonyc2 is right.

Unity received no downgrades. And people still bitch about it. It's just typical Ubisoft hate. People did the same shit with EA years ago.

No, it was just broken as fuck, so broken that Ubisoft issued an apology, cancelled the season pass and gave away free games.

at the end of the day graphics downgrades aren't as big of a deal anymore as much as that might disappoint you...no one is saying that Ubisoft has not downgraded the graphics...of course they have...I'm not saying it's right or wrong but it's just the way it is these days with games...my point is also that graphics do not trump gameplay...The Division will succeed or fail based on gameplay...SW: Battlefront is probably the best looking PC game ever released yet is failing on PC because of the repetitive gameplay, lack of maps, lack of dedicated servers etc

I also have said numerous times that a game can be downgraded and still look phenomenal...downgrade doesn't mean terrible graphics...also as I've said before, something cannot technically be downgraded if it was never released to the public to begin with...early game footage is a prototype...game development is a complicated process which takes years from when it is first shown to the public to retail release...it can go through many changes during this time...people with technical backgrounds know this

Anyone else after watching some videos think that this is a nicer looking Defiance?

And now for something completely different!...

I may have missed it, but have they mentioned anything further about the ability to have a user with a tablet, be able to run support drones? Was this idea killed or perhaps for future expansion? I remember the early demo video showing it...

They didn't give away any free games. People that bought the season pass were given a free game rather then a refund. Does that sound like something good to you?

I played it from start to finish with zero issues. Not broken for everyone.

Looks like the same engine as watch dogs with little to no improvements. Ui design is horrible, does this game take place in a VR simulation or something?

That would be fine if they didn't release "gameplay" trailers in order to drum up pre-orders. If pre-orders didn't exist then it wouldn't be such a big deal.

I'm just glad that real gameplay videos usually get out before release so I know where not to spend my money.

In a video I watched about someone talking about the alpha/beta, it was nowhere to be seen. Doesn't mean it won't come out later but it sounds like they may have killed it.

Bullshit. Even I saw that game and wanted to get a next generation console. I remember seeing the footage and thinking "wow, I underestimated next gen consoles. Maybe I will pick one up". If I was almost sold from those videos alone, there has to be thousands who saw the video and now have an xbone wondering where those graphics are now.

Honestly if someone wants to make a purchase based on a video, knowing the game wont be out for awhile that is the gamble they have to live with.

They should know where that video came from and the risks involved.

It was a Video from Ubisoft, a publishers that is known to under deliver 90% of the time. Where a gem like Farcry 3 is few and far between. They have been destroying franchises left and right, or watering down experiences to cater to console users or the hardware involved.

You have to look at their presentation videos in full skeptic mode until the game is out and playable.

Same goes for something like Star Citizen, don't throw more money at something than you are willing to throw away.

I personally do not like what Ubisoft does with a lot of their games, and constantly refer to them as Ubishit lol.

I preorderd the $99 Gold digital version on Amazon, the game looks fun to me and it is different from most fps or 3rd person modern combat games as its more of an rpg when it comes to gear and the damage system which is not really something we have right now on pc or at least that i am aware of. I really do not care if it looks like the original presentation video, as long as it looks decent and plays decent i am willing to give even a company like Ubishit a chance.

Tho next weekends beta will be a good indicator if i should keep that pre order or if i should drop it down to the version without the season pass included or drop it altogether and just worry about playing Black Desert which i have pre orderd as well and should be out soon after the Division launches heh.

The thing is though.. we are talking about average consumers. The 99% of buyers who don't browse internet forums and discuss the technical details of video gaming. You have to keep in mind that most people who buy next gen consoles think that whatever system they get is the pinnacle of gaming at the time. They watch tv commercials, see videos posted on facebook, and make know that their friends are going to buy the same thing too.

Well that is their problem for not researching things properly.

Why should i feel bad if Ubisoft is taking advantage of people, by flashing a promo video 2 years ago and then them not keeping up with the project and just blindly throw money at it? and then they complain when something from 2 years ago is not the same as what they paid for now? They only have them selves to blame.

Its a marketing teams job to build as much hype for a product as possible, especially at an event like E3, it is not a new tactic to make a presentation video look better than the final product, Ubisoft has done it before it should not come as a surprise to anyone.

got my beta key so looking forward to trying the game out this weekend...

New The Division PC screenshots have been uploaded online, and the visuals show how the game looks like maxed out in 1080P with HBAO+...while the newly published screenshots don’t include effects such as Lens Flares, Vignetting, Chromatic Aberration, and Post FXAA, they do show Nvidia’s HBAO+ (ambient occlusion) tech in action – a feature that was missing in the visuals that leaked earlier...

Well this weekend we will see how the beta plays. Feels like its been for ever since we saw the first E3 trailer and now to be finally be playing it is odd. Yeah the whole downgrade shit pisses me off to no end but if Jack Frags said its good and he's played the PC version then I'm confident I will enjoy this game.

I just REALLY hope that it won't be like Destiny where they kept rinse and repeating missions quests or whatever you want to call them. That's what killed Destiny for me when I had a PS4.

the game looks pretty damn good...not the uber photo-realistic graphics from E3 but it still looks pretty good for a 1:1 scale reproduction of NYC...of course the 'graphics downgrade' crusaders won't admit it but with all the eye candy enabled this has real potential...but the real test will be the gameplay and why this weekend is so important...if it can match the positive reactions from the SW: Battlefront beta then Ubisoft will be happy

got the beta to see how well it will run on my laptop with a 4710QM and 850m. We will see :D

looks good to me. is it too late for lazy asses like myself to sign up for the beta?

I was expecting them to actually send a key based on the note that it has at the bottom of that.

But they don't actually send a key, they just activate the beta on your uplay account and auto added it to your games tab.

I checked it today and its preloading.

yeah they didn't phrase it right...you do need a beta key but once you enter it at the beta sign-up site you're ready to go...

Yeah from the way they worded it, it seemed like the "key" that you got from amazon ect was simply a reservation code, meaning you were guaranteed to be sent an actual beta code once they were sent out ect. which was not really the case at all.

Still looks pretty meh to me, I have to say...those textures do not look good for the most part.

I tried to sign up for the beta the other day but they had already stopped, or the website crashed or something.

those screenshots are missing a bunch of graphical features so it's going to look even better with all the eye candy enabled

got my Beta preloaded, looking forward to it, just wish they had a FPS option.

I feel like a derp. I thought i had to put a beta code in the box marked xxxxxxx.....and not just skip it to get on a list.
